Lunar Awakening-Chapter 49: Old Blood
"You have got to be kidding me." Leo said as he watched the hover car finally get to its destination.
His eyes trembled visibly not with fear but in shock as he saw a huge white mansion with a very unique design, but what took him by surprise was not the building itself but where it was located.
The mansion was situated on the top of a mountain covered in snows, there were a number of trees in the area too showing that a forest had once been there.
Leo had never seen snow before or experienced it since the part of the city he was in never snowed.
The car landed in a parking lot populated by many other cars of different designs and sizes. Not long after they both alighted from the car to be bathed in a world of icy coldness.
Leo shivered, he had never once experienced such levels of cold before. It made it had to believe anyone in their right minds would want to leave somewhere so isolated.
Gerald looked at him and spoke in a clear-- crisp voice. "My dear, did you not bring your coat young master Hall?"
Leo did not know whether to feel infuriated or mocked, "Lets get out of here before I freeze to death."
The butler gave a light nod before waking towards the huge mansion, the walk seemed longer than Leo had anticipated. Or perhaps it was his joints freezing off.
Hopefully he was soon in a spacious living room, that gave of futuristic vibes even by his standard. There was a lot of beautiful furniture and even a mini at with a counter that had a large assortment of drinks.
What Leo came to love more than anything was how warm the room was compared to the outside world. The cold outside somehow remained-- outside.
’The marvels of technology I guess’, Leo told himself.
He cleared his throat and signalled to Gerald. "So where’s my gool ’ol pal, Kevin?"
Gerald gestured to one of the sofa before, "He should be here any moment now, would you like something to drink?"
Leo ignored the butler and looked at his time, it was already late. Luckily he had called his father on the way, he hoped Trish would not be mad. He simply hoped that this venture would prove to be eventful.
He did not have to wait long before another figure appeared down a set of floating steps that seemed to will itself into existence forming a circular row of silver stairs that fell from tie roof itself.
Leo made sure to get a good look of the person in hopes that it would jumpstart his memory. The man walking towards him was about his age, which made Leo a bit envious that he was this rich at such an age while he was barely getting by-- while also putting his life on the line every time.
The man had soft blond hair with a crisp clean cut on the side, his face was smooth and radiant with light blue irises, he also had one of his ears punctured with a small silver ring embedded there.
His outfit was nothing short of elegant, it looked like the material was made from the finest fabric in existence. One thing that threw Leo off was that he has barefoot.
"Ah, is that my old friend I see. I am so happy to see you again." His voice was crisp and clean, almost like that of an oscar level actor.
"Curses", Leo cursed under his breath.
Try as he might seeing this man barely struck a chord in him, he did not even remember a thing. He was beginning to doubt he knew the man.
"Um, hey there." Leo said with a forced smile.
Kevin approached him with his hands outstretched for a hug, Leo rolled his eyes backwards-- remembering how much he hated hugs. ’Somebody kill me now.’
He decided not to fight it, at least till he got what he needed from him.
However he did not expect what would happen in the next few seconds.
As Kevin approached him and threw his arms for a hug, it never landed. What did land-- was a blow.
Leo received a fist to the face, so powerful it sent him spiralling through the air by several meters before crashing into the ground with a huge explosion of debris and smoke. It had happened so suddenly that Leo had dropped his ground-- what would he expect to be attacked by someone who claimed to be his friend.
He climbed out of the debris and growled softly, behind a superhuman he quickly shook off the attack. However he could not shake off the fact that it still stung, or that a human’s blow should not have been so small.
"What the heck", Leo barked as his eyes fell to the pair of silver gauntlets clad on Kevin’s arms. He could have sworn that they were not there seconds ago. "What did you do that for?"
Kevin dismissed Gerald with a nod before turning and facing him with a straight face, "Oh please don’t whine like a baby, you’re a goddamn superhuman. It will take a lot more for my babies to put a dent in you."
"Babies, what babies?" Leo snapped. His own hands balling into fists, "Why did you attack me, haven’t you been sending me texts for like-- forever?"
Kevin started to advance towards Leo slowly, "I’m so glad you finally came Nardo, I can finally beat you senseless."
Leo’s eyebrows twitched as he started to advance forward, feeling his rage boiling. "Nardo? You called me here to beat me, you’ll regret it. The gap between us should frighte you."
Kevin chuckled darkly, "You still make dry jokes."
In a few short seconds Leo watched pieces of metal fly into the room from somewhere else and begin fitting themselves unto the man, they slowly took the shape of a humanoid metal suit that had a serious look on it.
Leo could feel his confidence stagger slightly and the silver plated suit of hammer Kevin was encased in. "Listen up, dude. I don’t know why you are getting all serious, I don’t even know you."
Kevin started towards Leo at superhuman level speed, "Then allow me to jog your memory."
Leo evaded the first blow from the metal suit and kicked it in the side sending it flying in the air, to his surprise he watched it hover in the air-- suspended by theaters on its back and legs.
"What the fuck dude, what’s this all about?" Leo screamed.
Kevin screamed back—
"Knocking some sense into you!"
He opened out his palms, sending our a beam of red hot laser in Leo’s direction.
Leo jumped back and avoided the blast by a huge margin-- and watched the ground melt. He did not know what grudge he had with Kevin to drive him so cash that he would wear a suit and burn down his own house.
"Hey, why don’t we talk about this?" Leo said as he tried to buy more time to come up with a plan while dodging all the beams of lasers raining down on him. "Surely we can come to an agreement."
Kevin stopped for a brief second and scoffed. "Now you want to talk you asshole."
But that brief second was enough—
Leo finally reached the sofa and tossed it in the direction of the flying metal suit with as much strength as he could muster within that time.
Kevin caught sight of the sofa before it could get close to him, he aimed his palm at it and shit a powerful beam of laser that caused the sofa to explode. He was however too late to see the silhouette of a man emerging out of that smoke and reaching out to him.
Using the smoke as a diversion Leo had managed to close the gap, he would have summoned the red needle but the time it would have taken to do that would have been detrimental to him.
This left him to resort to another method—
Charging up himself with fuel he snapped his palms open-- feeling his black fangs grow out by several inches. He slashed forwards and tore through the chest armour of the suit with surprising ease, he watched thin streaks of blood filled the space between them.
He heard Kevin scream as they both fell to the ground.
Being an awakened Leo was quick to recover from the fall while Kevin cried out in pain at the attack-- as his metal suit of armour fell to the ground with a loud thud.
Before he could raise a finger Leo was on him ripping his armour to shreds with alarming ferocity, till he reached the defenseless human underneath.
"Fuck, I should have used the stronger armour." Kevin hissed out in paid as he barely stood up, clutching to his chest wound and looking up at Leo.
Leo was fighting back the instinct to tear the man open as the scent of blood attacked his nostrils, it took all of his willpower to just look at him. "What is your problem?"
The sound of both of them breathing heavily could be heard from a distance, "Don’t you really remember me?" Kevin asked in a pained voice as he tried to reach to a pill several feet away. "Well I guess you still haven’t gotten over it."
Leo felt his claws retract as his anger slowly cooled down, his head felt much lighter allowing him to think again. "What the hell are you talking about you maniac?"
Kevin slumped down to the ground, his back resting on the pillar as he looked directly at Leo. "Your mother’s death."
