Chapter 92: Trust Me Bro

Damian stared at him for a long moment, then looked away, muttering something under his breath.

Zara spoke up then, her tone cautious. "So what happens now? We just do whatever Mr. L says?"

"No," Liam said firmly. "We work with him. We share information. But we don’t trust him. And if he tries to screw us over, we end it."

Camille tilted her head, her smile returning. "I like the way you think."

Liam turned his attention back to the group. "I’m not here to change everything. I’m not here to turn us into something we’re not. But I am here to lead. And that means making hard calls when I have to."

He paused.

"Shay built this crew to be a family. I’m not going to mess with that. But I’m also not going to sit around and watch you all get killed because I was too scared to make a decision."

Damian let out a sharp breath, shaking his head. "Fine. I still think this is a bad idea. But if Shay trusts you, I’ll give you a chance."

He pointed at Liam. "But you better not get us killed."

Liam met his gaze. "I’ll do my best not to."

Damian didn’t look convinced, but he didn’t argue further.

Zara was nodding slowly. "Alright. I’m in."

Liam nodded. "Cool."

Camille stood and walked closer, her smile widening. "I’m in too. But you owe me a drink sometime, boss."

Liam raised an eyebrow. "We’ll see."

’I’m absolutely in for that drink!’

Liam looked around the room one more time. "One more thing. We’re changing the name."

Shay sighed and shook his head, though there was a hint of acceptance in his expression.

Zara grinned. "Thank God. Berserk Gang is terrible."

Camille laughed. "Agreed. What are we calling ourselves now?"

Damian grunted. "About time."

Shay looked genuinely offended. "Is it really that bad?"

"It’s as bad as the tattoo," Zara said without hesitation.

Shay’s face fell. "The tattoo? Come on, the tattoo’s not that bad."

"Show him," Damian said, rolling his eyes.

Zara stood and lifted the side of her tank top, revealing her toned waist.

There, on her left hip, was a tattoo of a cartoonish berserker face with wild eyes and fangs, rendered in what looked like someone’s first attempt at tribal art.

Liam tilted his head, studying it. "Actually... that’s kind of cool."

Shay perked up immediately, standing a little straighter. "See? The new boss gets it!"

Zara rolled her eyes. "You’re both insane."

Camille smirked and shifted her blazer to the side, pulling down the neckline of her low-cut top just enough to reveal the upper curve of her left breast. There, inked on the soft, smooth skin, was the same terrible berserker face.

Liam’s eyes widened slightly.

’Is she seriously showing me her tits right now? In front of everyone?’

"Why there?" Liam asked, genuinely curious now.

Camille’s smile turned wicked, her voice dropping to a sultry purr. "I figured if I was going to brand myself, might as well put it on the best part of me. Something worth showing off." She traced a finger along the edge of the tattoo, her eyes locked on Liam’s. "Besides, it makes things more... memorable."

Liam nodded slowly, his throat dry. "Yeah... that’s actually pretty cool."

Shay grinned wider, clearly feeling validated now. "Thank you! Finally, someone with taste."

Damian sighed and turned around, lifting the back of his shirt. On his lower back, just above his waistband, was the same ridiculous tattoo.

"Do you understand how much I regret this?"

Liam bit back a laugh.

Shay threw his hands up. "Fine! But for the record, I still think it’s cool."

"It’s not," everyone said in unison.

Liam paused, then shook his head. "I don’t know what we’re calling ourselves yet. But it’s not going to be Berserk."

Damian muttered something under his breath, but didn’t protest.

The meeting ended shortly after that. People started filing out, heading to their cars or wherever they were going next.

Zara stopped by Liam on her way out. "You did good in there. Damian is tough, but he’ll come around."

Liam nodded. "Thanks."

She grinned. "And for what it’s worth, I think you’re gonna be a good leader."

She moved closer to him, her arms pressing her boobs together as she adjusted her tank top strap, the movement impossible to miss.

Liam’s eyes flicked down for half a second before he forced them back up to her face.

’Focus.’

She walked out, leaving Liam standing there with Shay.

Shay looked at him. "You handled that better than I thought you would."

Liam let out a breath. "I’m still figuring this out."

"Yeah," Shay said. "But you’re figuring it out."

They stood there in silence for a moment.

Then Liam’s phone buzzed.

He pulled it out and looked at the screen.

Liam stared at the message, then slipped the phone back into his pocket.

"What’s that about?" Shay asked.

"No idea," Liam said. "But I’m about to find out."

---

Liam pulled Tasha’s Civic into a spot in front of his apartment building, the engine ticking as it cooled.

The evening sun was sinking low on the horizon, casting long orange and purple shadows across the cracked pavement.

Kelvin was leaning against a lamppost across the street, his hands shoved into his jacket pockets, his expression serious for once. That alone was enough to put Liam on edge. Kelvin was never serious.

Liam locked the car and crossed the street, and Kelvin pushed off the lamppost, jerking his head toward the corner. "Let’s walk. Don’t want to talk here."

They walked in silence for a block, passing a convenience store, a laundromat, a group of kids playing basketball in a fenced-off court under the dimming light. Kelvin didn’t say anything until they were far enough away that no one could overhear them.

Finally, Kelvin stopped and turned to face him.

"Alright," Kelvin said, his voice low. "So I did some digging like you asked. And man, I found a lot of shit. Way more than I expected."

Liam crossed his arms. "Like what?"

Kelvin glanced around, making sure no one was nearby, then continued. "The Big 7. They’re not just rich families sitting around counting money, man. These people run everything. And I mean everything. The stuff they deal in... it’s insane. I was shocked when I started piecing it together."

He pulled out his phone, scrolling through some notes he’d taken. "So you got the Rothschilds, right? Banking, investments, venture capital. But it’s not just about money. They control debt. They own people. Politicians, judges, cops, you name it. If you owe them, you’re theirs."

Liam nodded. "I know."

Kelvin blinked. "You know?"

"Yeah." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Kelvin frowned, his finger hovering over his phone screen. "Okay, well what about the Morgraves? Security firms, private military contractors, arms manufacturing. They’re basically the enforcers for the other families. When someone needs to disappear, the Morgraves handle it."

"I know that too," Liam said.

Kelvin’s frown deepened. "The Sterlings? Healthcare monopoly, drug trafficking, illegal medical experiments?"

"Yep."

"The Hiltons? Shipping, logistics, smuggling operations?"

"Uh-huh."

Kelvin stared at him. "Bro, how the hell do you already know all this?"

Liam shrugged. "Elena told me."

Kelvin’s jaw dropped slightly. "Elena? As in, Elena Ashford?"

"That’s the one."

Kelvin let out a long breath, shaking his head. "Of course she did. Of course she got to you first." He muttered something under his breath that sounded like "always showing off," then looked back at Liam. "Cool, cool, cool. So she gave you the rundown. That’s great. Really great."

Liam raised an eyebrow. "You good?"

"Yeah, I’m fine," Kelvin said, though he sounded slightly annoyed. "It’s just... I spent two days digging through sketchy forums and talking to people I definitely shouldn’t be talking to, and you’re telling me you already knew all this."

"She took me to see something," Liam said.

Kelvin’s expression shifted, curiosity replacing the annoyance. "Took you to see what?"

"A guy. In a psychiatric hospital. He used to be a journalist who tried to expose the Big 7. They broke him. Left him catatonic. He’s been sitting in a chair staring at nothing for fifteen years."

Kelvin’s face went pale. "Jesus."

"Yeah."

They stood there in silence for a moment, the weight of that image settling between them.

Then Kelvin grinned.

It was sudden, unexpected, and completely out of place given the conversation they’d just had. But it was classic Kelvin.

"Well," Kelvin said, his grin widening, "she definitely didn’t show you what I’m about to show you."

Liam frowned. "What are you talking about?"

Kelvin turned and started walking back toward the street where he’d parked. "Come on. You’ll see."

Liam followed. "Kelvin, where are we going?"

"You’ll see," Kelvin repeated, still grinning.

They reached Kelvin’s car, a black Range Rover. Kelvin unlocked it and climbed into the driver’s seat. Liam got in the passenger side.

Kelvin started the engine, the sound rumbling low and smooth, and pulled out onto the street.

"Seriously," Liam said, buckling his seatbelt. "Where are we going?"

Kelvin glanced at him, that grin still plastered on his face. "Just trust me. You’re gonna want to see this."

They drove in silence for a few minutes, the city passing by outside the windows. Liam watched the buildings shift from residential to commercial, the streets getting busier.

"You gonna give me any hints?" Liam asked.

"Nope," Kelvin said cheerfully. "That would ruin the fun."

Liam leaned back in his seat. "You’re enjoying this way too much."

"Damn right I am," Kelvin said. "Elena got to play tour guide, now it’s my turn. And trust me, what I’m about to show you? Way better than some sad dude in a hospital."

They continued driving, leaving the busy commercial areas behind and heading into an older, more industrial part of the city.

The buildings here were different—warehouses, factories, storage facilities, most of them looking abandoned or barely operational.

Kelvin turned onto a side street, then another, navigating through the maze of structures until he pulled into a parking lot behind a large, nondescript building.

The lot was empty except for a single black SUV parked near the building’s rear entrance.

Kelvin parked next to it and cut the engine.

"Alright," Kelvin said, opening his door. "We’re here."
