Chapter 145: Chapter 145

Sebastian’s eyes widened. He hopped off the bed and grabbed his phone immediately. He called 119 for an ambulance and then rushed to his wife’s side to calm her down because she began to wince in pain.

"Yes! Hurry up! My wife’s about to give birth!" Sebastian yelled at the phone before ending the call.

"Let’s go, Winter. I’ll carry you down, the ambulance will arrive shortly!" Sebastian said as he carried Winter in a bridal style.

Winter clung to him tightly, as she was in so much pain right now. She closed her eyes in the hope of numbing the pain a little.

Sebastian kicked the door open, and then yelled at the caregiver, "Tell Gina that Winter is about to give birth! I’m going to the hospital right now!"

Sebastian rushed out of the penthouse and used the elevator to go down. His chest rose up and down, and he was heaving, which Winter noticed.

So she opened her eyes and stared at her husband who looked tense.

"Seb... you can put me down... I’m too heavy..."

"What are you talking about? You’re about to give birth!" Sebastian yelled in panic. "Don’t worry, you’re not heavy. I’m just... panicking right now."

Winter had a grimacing smile as she replied, "I will be fine... it’s just a little painful..."

Sebastian was distressed hearing Winter grimacing in pain. Once the elevator door was opened, there was already an ambulance parked at the front, and a stretcher was already prepared for her.

Thus, Winter was put on the stretcher, and they went directly to the hospital.

Sebastian was holding Winter’s hand the whole time. He didn’t want to say anything as he knew he’d only yell at the hospital staff nonstop about his wife’s pain.

He silently followed as Winter was put in a room and the nurses were getting ready for her to be in labour.

...

One scream after another from Winter was enough to make Sebastian feel like he was in a nightmare. He knew it was natural for women to feel pain during labour, but it made him begin to wonder if one child would be more than enough for them as he didn’t want to see Winter in so much pain.

Thus, he kept on wiping the sweat on Winter’s face in silence while allowing Winter to clench—even clawing his arm when she was pushing the baby out.

She looked at Sebastian who got even paler than she was, and couldn’t help to chuckle, "Are you alright? It looks like you’re about to faint."

"I... I didn’t know it’d be this difficult for you to give birth. I’m sorry..." Sebastian muttered.

Winter couldn’t help to laugh despite the pain, "You better be. It’s really painful. You should take responsibility and treat this child nicely."

"I will," Sebastian said. He wiped the sweat on Winter’s forehead and kissed it. "I love you, wife."

It took eight hours for the baby to finally come into this world. The piercing cry of the baby marked the end of Winter’s labour, and she closed her eyes and took many deep breaths as it was the second most painful experience she had in her life.

Her first?

Of course, everything that happened in her previous life.

The midwife cleaned the baby, and before placing him on Winter’s chest. Winter could feel the baby’s skin on hers, a sign that she wasn’t dreaming.

"Congratulations, Mr and Mrs. Saenz. It’s a healthy baby boy."

Winter stared at the baby who was still crying loudly on her chest. The piercing cry hurt her ears, but it warmed her heart.

Never in a million years had she ever thought that she could finally give birth to a healthy baby.

After all, she went through many miscarriages with Aiden and committed suicide before her baby was born in her previous life.

The baby’s skin was still reddish before he slowly opened his eyes, and the cry grew even louder than before.

"It seems little Saenz is hungry, you should breastfeed him, Ma’am," the midwife helped Winter to sit on the hospital bed, and Winter naturally breastfed her baby for the first time.

Sebastian was staring at his baby in silence. He had been trying to process what just happened.

He also had this dream of having a baby with Winter many times in his previous life, but he never thought it would be possible.

"He has a lot of hair for a newborn," Winter commented. "And a little heavy. He resembles you a lot, Seb."

"I can see that..." Sebastian nodded. However, he was unsure if he should be happy with that information because he thought he wouldn’t make a cute baby. It’d be better if their baby resembled Winter more.

Winter glanced at Sebastian who was still trying to process everything. She smiled and asked, "Didn’t you tell me that you already have a name for him?"

"Yes, if it’s a girl, her name will be Summer Saenz, but if it’s a boy, his name will be... Gabriel Saenz," Sebastian said. "Because he is our angel."

"Gabriel Saenz, I like that," Winter smiled. She looked at her son and said, "Do you hear that? Your name is Gabriel Saenz, and you are Mama and Papa’s dear angel."

The baby fell asleep after he had enough milk from his mother. Thus, the midwife helped to wrap his body and allowed Winter to sleep.

"Have you ever held a baby before, Mr. Saenz?" The midwife asked as she held the sleeping baby in her arms.

"Never," Sebastian replied. "I never expected myself to have a baby either."

"Then, you should relax first before carrying the baby," the midwife said before gently putting the baby in Sebastian’s arms.

Winter said that the baby was quite heavy, but he was very light for Sebastian, which made him scared that he would accidentally hurt the fragile baby.

’My precious son... I failed you in my previous life. But I promise I will be a good father for you and a good husband for your mother,’ Sebastian vowed in his heart before he looked at Winter who was still sleeping. ’You two are my reasons to continue living in this world."
