Chapter 371: Travel and Travel Beyond Chapter Two Lakeside_3

Zilvra tightly held the Mage’s arm: "Lynch, when can I always gaze at this beautiful sky?"

"Very soon," the Mage replied, holding Zilvra’s hand and placing it in the crook of his arm. "Before we reach the nearest town, you’ll be able to enjoy the scenery here as much as I do. But during this time, you must be obedient and not strain your eyes too much; it wouldn’t be good if they got damaged."

"You must lead me there," Zilvra said. "No objections allowed on this matter."

"Of course, when I promised you a delightful surface world, I already considered this possibility," the Mage said, leading the female Drow towards his friends. "In the Underdark, you guided me through damp and treacherous paths. Now, I’m merely doing the same as you did back then."

Deluo watched them approach slowly, letting out a "haha" laugh. He nudged Nimo next to him with his elbow but hit the Dwarf’s head instead. "Nimo, look, a rare sight indeed..." fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm

Lynch looked at Deluo, naturally hearing his words. However, the Mage did not comment on it. The little angel Soka above them kept urging everyone towards the lake, and Lynch asked her to land and advance together with them.

"Soka, near the exits from the Underdark to the surface, there may be groups who hate underground creatures. They work hard to prevent those underground evil beings from reaching the surface." Lynch felt Zilvra’s hand in his arm tighten its grip. "Though you’re a little angel, it’s not good if they accidentally harm you."

Soka listened to Lynch with some understanding, being not yet at the age to fully grasp such complex relationships. However, walking on the surface had its perks - sweet berries from the bushes and mushrooms under the shade fell into the pockets of Soka and Nimo. The little angel cheerfully hopped among tree branches, as agile as a squirrel, even without using her wings. The Dwarf Nimo, though only skilled at cooking Underdark food, was already adept when it came to mushrooms.

After crossing a couple of small hills, a lake appeared before them, the still waters reflecting the distant crisp mountains. A gentle breeze stirred the water, blurring the reflection — only then could one distinguish where the water ended and the sky began. The pebbles by the lake had been worn smooth, their sleek touch surpassing even the finest gemstones, exciting the little angel who squatted there selecting her favorites but got dazzled by the colorful stones.

Deluo moved some boulders to set up a temporary cooking station, and Felps gathered dry wood. Lynch initially wanted to catch some fish from the lake, but Zilvra held onto him tightly, not wanting him to leave.

"It’s okay, let’s go together." The two stood by the lake, the Mage’s Powerful Wand waved in the air, creating a force wall underwater.

With willful control, the force wall formed a cage-like enclosure, and the Mage waved it upright. The water flowed out through small holes deliberately left at the base of the force wall, trapping larger fish that couldn’t escape, falling into the Mage’s hands.

Soka watched Lynch’s unique fishing method, giggling all the while. She bounced over to help the Mage find a big fish, leaving the rest back into the water.

Zilvra didn’t quite understand what Lynch did, but she continued to smile, straining her ears to listen carefully to the sounds around her. The rustling leaves, the lake water lapping against the shore, birdsongs, and cicadas’ calls were all like beautiful music to her.

Nimo cleaned the fish by the lake, saying it was bigger than any he’s seen in the underground rivers, and admitted he didn’t know the exact cooking method. Felps, being an eating expert of the Halflings, told Nimo to simply boil it in water, and he’d handle the other ingredients. Deluo assisted Nimo with the fish, as, for the Little Dwarf, the fish exceeded half his height, making it difficult for him to manage alone.

"If I haven’t guessed wrong, we should be located southwest of the Five Realms Mountain," Lynch said, lighting a piece of paper he carried with him with the Fire Stone and then igniting the dry wood to start a fire. "We are at the juncture of Haisas, Yim, Holy Pate, Gunn’s Hammer, and the Southern Lords’ territories, hence the mountains behind us are called the Five Realms Mountain Range."

"Given so many choices, where should we go?" Felps asked. "Should we first go to the Holy Pate to find Wislin’s whereabouts, or to Gunn’s Hammer to find Dwarf Morgan?"

"Both are quite elusive, hard to track down. I feel we should go find Anna, who will surely stay in the Elf Kingdom across the sea — Moon. There might be news of the others, making it easier to plan our next move," Lynch said. "However, crossing the sea before us is not an easy task. Though I can navigate, I’m not good at rowing a boat. As for building one, it’s actually not too difficult for me." The Mage thought for a bit. "Since we’re not in a hurry, let’s proceed along the coastline, which is safer for now. Haisas is our next stop."

"I’ll just follow where you go," Zilvra voiced her opinion after hearing Lynch’s words.

Felps selected some mushrooms, washed them, and tossed them into the water, then cut the fish into large chunks to cook together. Nimo took out spices he bought from the Dwarf City, carefully handling the fish’s flavor. Lynch also used Magic, enhancing the taste of the fish soup.

However, the Mage had another task to do. During their underground adventures, they primarily used grilled meat as food, eating directly off clean slate. But for fish soup, bowls were essential. Picking up some pebbles from the ground, "Creation Law" and Transforming All Things Spell, both long-established magical techniques for Lynch, created several beautiful small bowls in no time.

The fish and mushroom stew made everyone’s mouth water; even Soka, who didn’t eat meat, couldn’t help but rest on Deluo’s shoulder, staring at the pot of fragrant soup, incessantly asking Nimo when it would be ready to eat.

At this tranquil lakeside, a delicious meal was the best reward for everyone returning to the surface. Zilvra and Soka tasted such food for the first time and praised it continuously. They quickly finished their share and soon asked for another bowl. Lynch had to pick out the fish bones and feed the female Drow since Zilvra was still unable to see.

Several birds landed near them, with one bold white bird even perching on Soka’s wings, tickling the little angel and making her giggle. She placed a piece of fish onto her palm, gently blew it, and then fed it to the bird, watching these small, similarly winged companions joyfully gobble up the fish, and Soka felt especially happy.
