Chapter 32: A New Look

"Ungh.." Azariah woke up on the floor, feeling a mild headache inside his head.

’Guess I survived again.’ He chuckled lightly as he stood up.

Immediately, he felt the changes in his body. It felt like his breathing was sharper and his vision was much clearer.

The mana intake and progression in his body had improved as well.

Moving to the mirror, he took a look at his physical features, and it was safe to say he was impressed.

His skin was much tighter now, and his muscles were much more refined and toned. His facial color was better, and the signs of tiredness were gone from his face.

’Damn.’

He wasn’t expecting this much of a change.

He took a quick look at his status, and suddenly his eyes lit up in elation.

He was an Intermediate Synapth now!

’Holy shit.’

No wonder he felt this stronger. It was only then that he noticed the huge pile of impurities on the floor behind him as well.

Due to his senses being sharper, the stench of them was much worse than before.

Before examining his status further, he was quick to clear them all up. He didn’t want to faint again after just waking up.

Once he was done, he went back to his Status window and noticed the huge change in his Node Capacity as well.

It was safe to say that Azariah was brimming with happiness.

An average Intermediate Synapth’s node capacity was 5200, so he wasn’t that far off!

But now, it was time for the main focus.

Azariah’s eyes rolled down to the bottom of his Status window where a new section had taken hold.

Foundations:

﹂ [★★★★★] Sumeragi Art ❉ Beginner

There were 4 levels to a weapon foundation, no matter what its rank was.

Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Complete.

The more you practiced and delved deep into the understanding of the foundation, the higher levels of mastery you would achieve in it.

Focusing on the Foundation, Azariah tried to open it and immediately a flush of information flooded his brain.

"Ungh!"

Azariah clutched his head, but fortunately, the wave of pain only lasted a few seconds.

However, when he opened his eyes, Azariah had a whole new light shining in them.

It was as if he had gained an understanding of what the Foundation was, what it represented, and how to use it.

He knew it was just the tip of the iceberg and he had already started, but Azariah had a huge smile on his face.

The Foundation was truly sensational and powerful.

’The possibilities are insane.’

Excitement welled up inside Azariah to start practicing it right here and now.

However, he had to calm down and save it for later. He was sure nobody would think it was normal to hear gunshots going off inside a dormitory early in the morning.

’Wait, early in the morning?’

Azariah turned to the side, and his face twisted in horror as he saw how late he had gotten.

The sun was already up, and he was still yet to get ready for class.

’Fuck.’

Leaving everything else, Azariah instantly hopped into the shower to get ready.

***

"Huff.. huff.."

Azariah rushed to the academic block entrance, sweat running down his face.

Wiping it off, he was about to rush inside when he suddenly saw Alyssia in the distance. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

’I can’t believe she left without knocking the door today.’

As he was walking up to her, Azariah took notice of the multitude of stares he was getting.

’Huh?’

It was normal for him to get stared at, so Azariah didn’t normally mind, but it was unusually high today.

Especially because most of them were girls whispering to each other.

’Who is he?’’Is he a new student?’’I can’t lie, he looks hot.’

Azariah was initially surprised at how he could hear them much better now. Probably because of his evolution.

But what surprised him even more was their topic of conversation.

His looks. Not only that—calling him hot.

’That’s crazy.’

When Azariah came to this world, he already knew he had that kind of royal or noble beauty to him.

White hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. It was everything he had read about and designed to make someone look attractive to the opposite gender.

But then again, Azariah was built like a lanky stick with his skin hugging his bones, so he never considered himself that beautiful.

He was proven right when nobody took that much notice of him as compared to Ivan or Igor.

Sure, he got some stares, but that was it. However, now that his skin was much clearer and he had some muscle mass on him, what he saw was normal.

’I guess I’ll have to get used to this.’

Catching up to Alyssia, he was about to call her from a moment away when he was suddenly interrupted.

"Excuse me."

The voice not only caught his attention but Alyssia’s as well, who thought the voice was for her.

Turning, Azariah saw that it was a girl.

’Are we being serious?’ he thought with a deadpan look on his face.

The girl’s face was red with shyness, and she seemed to be looking around to avoid eye contact with him.

But then she finally looked forward at Azariah, and the latter almost shivered at the intensity of her stare.

"Uhm, I wanted to ask if we could be friends!?"

She blurted that out like it was a rehearsed line.

Even Alyssia had a look of ridiculousness on her face at what was happening.

However, Azariah was quick to clear any drama.

"No."

He shook his head, and the girl stared at him with wide eyes, speechless.

She stood there for a second as if waiting for an explanation, but Azariah just stared at her until she got embarrassed and ran away.

"Well, that was unusual." Azariah turned to Alyssia, who stared at him with an incredulous face.

"Who are you?" she asked, her eyes going up and down.

Azariah looked at her with a deadpan expression.

"Seriously?"

Alyssia said nothing in response, just observed him silently for a second before Azariah had to say something.

"It’s not nice to let your neighbor sleep late and almost miss the class."

It was on those words that Alyssia then also started staring at him coldly as if trying to say ’that’s not my job.’

And she was right, but at least she could be considerate.

Azariah sighed and let the matter go as she turned to leave.

However, as they walked forward and Alyssia was about to enter the academic block, he heard her say from the front,

"It’s not nice to block people and ignore them for 2 days as well."

’Oh...’

It clicked inside him why she was acting like that.

’Damn, she’s still pissed about that.’

In a sense, she wasn’t wrong for reciprocating the same way.

’Wait, I think I still have her blocked.’
