Magic Monopoly: Reborn as the Sole Magic Tower Master-Chapter 253: Episode
Yusin charged in, using Devastar. Albert raised his left wing to guard.
The wing bent back under Devastar’s shockwave. Yusin immediately planted his foot on a Devastar circle on the ground and lashed out with his other leg.
This time, his right wing rippled under Devastar’s power.
“GRAAAAAAAAH!”
Yusin’s berserk body moved so violently it was hard to follow with the naked eye.
Left foot down, right foot out. Right foot down, left foot out.
His legs shot out, leaving countless afterimages. Albert had no choice but to bring Icarus fully to bear and turtle up on defense.
First strike. Second. Third. Fourth. Fifth.
Every single hit carried the power of Devastar.
“What the hell...!”
The feathers of Icarus, harder than any metal in existence, were being ripped out, shattered, and shredded. Soon both wings were ruined, forced back, and Albert’s body was left wide open. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Yusin seized the opening and leaped.
Albert tried to retreat out of the kick’s range, but the final Devastar was different.
<Devastar – Cutter>
Yusin’s leg swept down on a diagonal, and a matching diagonal cut opened across Albert’s chest, spraying blood.
Albert clutched the wound and panted. The blow had torn through his hunter suit’s force field and landed clean.
“I’m not done yet!”
Landing, Yusin stomped his right foot hard and gripped Specter’s hilt on his back.
“I’m nowhere near done!”
With his eyes blazing, he looked like a demon of war. Even Albert faltered under the sheer force of his presence.
Just as Yusin activated Devastar on both feet again and was about to rush in—
CLANK.
His stance collapsed. His body had finally blown past the limit of how much dark mana it could endure.
Like fire on oil, his entire body was engulfed in searing dark magic.
Soon, even his face was swallowed by black flames, leaving it completely obscured.
—Tower Master!
[Meshara. Meshara.]
—Get a hold of yourself, Tower Master!
The voices in Yusin’s ear grew more and more distant.
’Focus.’
Dark mana to normal mana ratio: 99 to 1.
This was what he had been waiting for.
Yusin exhaled slowly and fixed his gaze straight ahead.
Then he raised his charred black arm and began drawing a magic circle over his own chest.
He had only one shot.
The structure of the magic circle came to him with perfect clarity.
As he drew it with dark mana, Yusin let out a low chuckle.
’Roist. In the end, things turned out exactly the way you wanted, huh.’
So he had planned to apply this to all of humanity?
That was insane.
He alone would be enough of a sacrifice for this research.
Yusin finished drawing the circle and activated it with dark mana.
And with that, the dark mana ratio hit one hundred percent.
As the magic circle activated, a skin-crawling screech echoed out.
A pitch-black space opened in midair, and chains burst out from within, wrapped around Yusin’s body, and dragged him inside.
Yusin thrashed in agony as his entire body burned. He looked like a condemned soul being dragged into hell.
The space warped and twisted, undergoing a series of transformations.
“What in the world...?”
Even Albert, who had experienced more anomalies and monsters than he could count, had never seen anything like this.
The ominous black mana leaking out made his entire body tremble in instinctive rejection.
The space that had swallowed Yusin’s body shifted into the shape of a “coffin.”
From a human perspective, it looked like a coffin, but there was no way to know what that object truly was.
Just then, a human arm punched through the coffin.
SNAP! RIP!
Though made of darkness, the coffin was a foreign object, a space containing its own small universe. Something tore it open and emerged.
<Body Surgery – Titan>
It was unmistakably Yusin.
But the aura he gave off was fundamentally different.
He felt like a completely different species, something that did not belong in this world.
Yusin’s mouth stretched into a long, wide grin, revealing rows of white teeth.
His jaw had split far beyond what a human mouth should be able to do. It was downright grotesque.
“He has lost his mind and gone berserk.”
Albert clicked his tongue and unleashed his mana.
A massive surge of mana poured out of his body. The wings on his back slowly regressed and were sucked into him.
Then feathers began to sprout from his back and spread across his entire body.
The feathers twisted like braided ropes and compressed, and the same phenomenon occurred all over him. Before long, Albert’s whole body was covered in dense feathers, marked with strange patterns.
In ancient times, Icarus ability users had been priests who served a god.
Their wings had been modeled after the form of the “god” they worshipped.
And the ultimate form of the Icarus ability, as embodied by Albert, was that very god itself.
<Incarnation – Garuda>
“What a pity, young hunter.”
Covered head to toe in feathers, Albert raised his arm.
“To lose your mind and rampage like that is not true strength...”
In that instant, five pitch-black lines snapped into his vision. His body tilted, and the back of his head swung toward the ground.
Without a hint of presence, Yusin’s hand had clamped down over his face, gripping it savagely.
"Who exactly lost what?"
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The entire Sky Castle shook as Albert’s body was driven into the ground, carving out a deep crater.
Through the gaps between Yusin’s fingers, Albert saw it.
The horrific smile on his face, and the black waves radiating from beyond that palm.
<Devastar>
With a violent detonation, Albert’s head was rammed into the earth.
<Devastar>
<Devastar>
<Devastar>
<Devastar>
<Devastar>
<Devastar>
Still gripping Albert’s head, Yusin triggered Devastar over and over like a madman.
Albert screamed as the impacts rattled his brain. At the same time, he thrust out his right arm, conjuring a gale that blasted Yusin away.
“Ghh...!”
Hauling himself out of the crater, Albert groaned and summoned his mana.
The feathers covering his body stood on end, whipping up green whirlwinds all around him.
"Pathetic."
Watching him, Yusin gave a crooked grin and snapped his fingers.
Holes punched open in the sky one after another, and pitch-black black holes began to form in rapid succession.
Chains erupted from the black holes that had completely surrounded Albert.
“Hrgh!”
Albert unleashed the green gales he’d prepared, sending them blasting in every direction.
At a thrust of Yusin’s arm, the chains shot forward with a harsh metallic screech and slammed into the gales.
It wasn’t even a contest.
The chains tore the gales apart in an instant. Albert frantically shot upward.
The black chains streaked after him, and a high-speed aerial chase began.
Albert flew at supersonic speed, leaving green trails streaming from his body. The black chains pursuing him drew long, dark streaks across the sky as they closed in.
’Do these things have no length limit?!’
Even after flying thousands of feet into the air, the chains kept coming.
Then, a chilling killing intent flared beside him, moving at the same supersonic speed. He turned his head.
He froze in shock.
Yusin was crouched casually on one of the chains, looking down at him with indifferent eyes.
The moment Albert met those bottomless eyes, an indescribable terror seized him.
“Hrrrgh!”
Albert wrenched himself in the opposite direction, pushing his speed even higher.
But something even faster caught him. A violent pain exploded in his waist, bending his body sharply downward.
<Devastar> ×10
Stomping down on Albert, Yusin’s body became a black comet, plunging straight down and slamming into the Sky Castle island.
Everything on the island shot into the air, and the entire landmass rocked back and forth like a wobbling toy.
“Aaaaaah!”
“Wh-what kind of fight is this?”
The hunters and the Fourth Floor Team watching from afar could only stare in shock.
This was no longer a battle between humans.
BOOM!
A green vortex erupted from the massive crater, followed by a flash that split the air. The two figures tangled, trading a flurry of punches and kicks.
Blocking Yusin’s attacks, Albert was horrified.
At this level, Yusin was beyond an officially ranked 1st-class hunter—no, his power was so overwhelming that the very concept of ranks felt meaningless.
Having transcended the need for a magic circle, Yusin triggered Devastar with his entire body.
Every step, every extension of a limb, every crack of his knuckles or twist of a joint triggered Devastar.
This wasn’t human movement.
There was no way to fight back.
Driven back to the ground, Albert panted for breath. In the distance, Devastar flared behind Yusin.
One step, two, three.
In just three steps, Yusin closed the distance and appeared behind him.
“Ghhhk!”
Albert launched his feathers, but they were incinerated the moment they touched the black mana shrouding Yusin’s body.
Reflected in his wide, shocked pupils was Yusin’s approaching right leg.
Albert threw his arms up to guard, but black ripples surged along Yusin’s leg as it shifted its trajectory from Albert’s head downward.
He gasped.
The ripples spread to Yusin’s waist and shoulders. His body twisted, transforming the high kick into a low kick.
His leg knocked out from under him, Albert was flung into the air. The movement defied all laws of physics.
“Grrrgh! This isn’t even a fight anymore!”
Yusin flashed into existence midair and stomped down on Albert once again.
<Devastar> ×20
Once more, Yusin drove Albert down, boring a new crater into the ground.
Drilling mindlessly through the earth, the two finally punched a hole through the Sky Castle and burst out the bottom.
“Guhk! Khh!”
As he plummeted, Albert looked down.
He saw the sea. It was the Black Sea, ringed by Turkey, Romania, and other countries.
At that moment, Yusin raised his right arm. Specter materialized in his hand.
"Let us end this."
<Devastar – Chain Hole>
A massive black sphere swelled along Specter’s blade, incomparably larger than the one he had used before.
Yusin swung his sword and hurled the giant black hole.
“Damn it!”
Albert tried to flee, but he couldn’t gain speed.
In fact, he was being dragged in faster than he could fly.
That black sphere was sucking in everything around it.
In the end, the Chain Hole swallowed Albert as he tried to escape and continued its descent.
The raging sea rose in a towering waterspout, sucked into the sphere. When the sphere finally touched the water, the surrounding ocean poured into the Chain Hole.
A hole opened in the ocean, a single blue hole forming in its place.
Yusin spread his arms wide.
With a deafening roar, the Chain Hole that had bored into the sea triggered a Big Bang.
The seawater that had been drawn inside blasted outward in all directions, shoving aside the surrounding ocean and carving out an even larger void.
A colossal scar, as if left by a meteor strike, appeared on a portion of the Earth.
With a mere gesture, Yusin mocked the very forces of nature, and he did so without hesitation.
