Magical Girl with Demonic Time Magic-Chapter 55: Victory
Ayane places me on the ground while averting her gaze, and I look at the monster. The spike made of barrier along with the impact and speed caused a very serious perforation in the area near the monster’s chest.
Since Ayane had enough time and concentration, she was able to shape and fortify the barrier to its maximum, creating a strong enough barrier to withstand the damage.
"Ayane, don’t undo this barrier, or this monster might try to escape," I say as I approach the barrier.
"..." I look at this monster that is still alive even with this spike piercing its body. I imagined it would survive, so I made it clear to Ayane how the shape of the spike should be.
If this monster tries to get out, it will be very painful, and due to the damage, I doubt it can break the barrier that Ayane made with preparation and time.
"N-Not bad at all," it says. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard this, and it’s already getting annoying.
"I can say the same, my arm is in a terrible condition." I need to be healed by someone, and even after being healed, my arm will remain like this for at least a week.
’Hexael...’ I look up, seeing a black cat with a bizarre smile, and I imagine that the magical girl I asked for help is currently being raped, just as Hexael told me, someone would need to replace Ayane.
Ayane wasn’t raped today, so someone had to take her place. If what this monster said is true, the girl I brought with me must be the replacement.
I didn’t do it on purpose. I thought I could save Ayane without many risks, but the risks and difficulties were much greater than planned.
"You lost, do you have anything to say?" I ask.
"N-No... but I’m quite weak among the monsters... haha... you’ll have a lot of difficulties being so weak," the monster says mockingly with a laugh.
’He’s right...’ I need to train, I need to use my powers as efficiently as possible. If I knew how to use what I have properly, I wouldn’t need to take such risks.
Ayane also needs to learn to use her power properly, or she’ll be practically a dead weight that will only make everything difficult. I feel sad to consider her a burden, but I’m being realistic, and this situation proves that we need to get stronger.
"Why is the number of monsters increasing?" I try to get something good out of this.
"W-Who knows? Why would I tell that to a cruel magical girl like you?" He insults me with a mocking smile.
"H-Hey, cowardly girl... you shouldn’t trust someone as cruel as this girl," he says with a distorted smile while contorting a bit.
"Ayane, don’t listen to this monster. I may have thought of something ’cruel,’ but this monster is much worse. He does horrible things to regular people and magical girls."
"Setsuna is right," Ayane agrees. It’s obvious she doesn’t want to look at the monster’s body, but I’m glad she trusts me.
"Hehehe... I’m a Human-Class monster," when he says this, Ayane and I are shocked.
’...’ The silence is really disconcerting. We had so much difficulty with a Human-Class monster? He seemed so strong. It’s obvious that it could just be a lie, but it seems to be the truth. He doesn’t appear to be lying.
It’s as if he’s telling the truth just to humiliate us, and it’s working perfectly.
Moreover, he didn’t use much magical power, and the destruction caused by him is really limited to small parts of the structures, meaning his destructive range is low compared to the power he has demonstrated.
I find this completely absurd. Ayane and I had so much difficulty with a monster that is not even of the Colossal-Class. This shows why an intelligent monster is much more dangerous than a stupid and strong one.
If this monster had been truly of the Colossal-Class, Ayane and I wouldn’t have had a chance to win.
"Ayane, please call the magical girl base to report our location and also to tell them to take help to the other magical girl," I say, sitting on the ground and looking at the monster that seems to have stopped moving.
It appears to have finally died, probably because the host’s life has been completely exhausted.
"O-Okay," Ayane says nervously, picking up her phone. This makes me think about the difference between this monster and others.
The Colossal-Class monster that Lenore and I fought didn’t bother to dodge most of my shots, even though they caused some damage. The monster just dodged a few.
This current monster, however, tried to dodge most of them whenever possible, showing that one considered my attacks a real problem, and the other practically didn’t care about my attacks.
I look at my broken arm and the place where Hexael was, but it’s already gone. I’m much weaker than I expected.
As soon as Ayane finishes the call, I decide to talk to her about something important for both of us.
"Ayane, we should stop fighting monsters for at least 1 month." If we continue going into battles like this, sooner or later, we’ll only have serious problems.
"W-What!?" Ayane says, surprised.
"Please listen to me and evaluate what I’m saying. We are weak, very weak, and this fight shows it." I don’t like to say this, but it’s the truth. Both of us are too weak for the current challenges.
"It’s no use just wanting to help people and becoming a burden to other magical girls." This was one of Ayane’s mistakes in the past. She continued to act as a magical girl even when she was losing, she didn’t stop to evaluate that she was only exhausting herself and hindering more than helping in the beginning.
"We should train intensively for 1 month and master our strengths. The magical girl base has training facilities. If we get stronger, we’ll be able to defend more people, but if we continue trying while we’re weak, we’ll only get in the way."
"Now we won. But next time, we may not be so lucky..." I say, which leaves her in silence.
"..."
"I know the truth is not sweet to hear, but it’s a fact that the way we are now, we’ll only be a nuisance..." Nothing will change this. Lying to ourselves will only make things harder.
"I know..." she says, discouraged.
"But I’m not saying we don’t have talent. We can evolve a lot during this 1 month of training together. We can improve our teamwork and use of our abilities."
"You and I can always train together because we trust each other. We’re a great team, we just need a little more training."
"And we also have school to take care of. We can’t neglect the present while thinking too much about the future." It’s advice for me and for her. I can’t stop enjoying the present before the chaotic future arrives.
"You’re right! We just need to get stronger... Let’s train together then!" She says with a little more confidence, which makes me gain a soft smile.
"Yes... but first, I need to go to the infirmary." I say, holding my arm, which is in terrible condition. Ayane looks at it, seeing the not-so-good state.
"I-I’ll try to help." She tries to use magic, holding the wand while a faint glow occurs. I feel the pain reduce a bit, but nothing extra happens because she doesn’t know how to use the healing ability well.
"Thank you, it helped a little." I say to her while looking at the monster’s body, which dissolves into white particles. I don’t fully understand why the bodies disappear, but it’s interesting to observe.
"S-Setsuna, even if I’m bad at this... can we still be a team? You don’t mind that I’m weak?" She asks as if she were a burden.
"Of course we’ll be a team. You’re my friend. First, we’ll get stronger together, and then we can go save many people."
I say to her while I hear sounds indicating that they are arriving.
"We’re both weak, but nothing prevents us from getting strong. We just need dedication." And Ayane needs stronger determination, so I’ll try to be the person for whom she’ll be filled with determination.
"Yes! You’re right," Ayane says, feeling a little better with the small encouragement. Soon, Lenore appears, jumping down here from up there.
"I see you two have been through difficult times," Lenore says, looking at my broken arm.
"Yes... but experience is always something welcome," I say to her as she extends her hand to help me up.
"Your arm looks terrible, but we should be able to get it healed soon, and in a few days, it will be as good as new."
"Of course, if your school goes after data, it will be described that you had a minor accident, and our branch hospital took care of it," she says while Ayane joins us.
"We need to take you to the base, and about the other girl Ayane reported, a team has already gone after her... Setsuna, we checked the cameras, and I’m curious... how did you know Ayane was in danger?"
"I just felt something bad..."
"...Of course..." Lenore says, not really believing it, but leaving it as is, while Ayane doesn’t understand the strange exchange of words.
The three of us start to go, with Lenore providing support so we don’t have further difficulties. It was a very crazy night, but I’m satisfied that I saved Ayane and also managed to arrange a training commitment together without seeming strange.
I need to work very hard to learn and master all the physical and weapon capabilities I have. If I learn to use all my power, a weak monster will never give me so much trouble again.
