Chapter 12: The Hunter becomes the Hunted

—‐Puuu

An arrow flew through the sky and pierced a tall pine tree. Following this, the body of a young man flashed by that same tree at an incredible speed. This young man was Leon, and his assailant was a young man with pitch-black hair and amour of the same likeness of the hunters.

"Don't run away, little bunny, I only want to pet you on the head!!"

The young man chasing Leon said with a slight twisted smile on his face. He was enjoying the chase very much. Back in their territory, he would usually hunt wild boars, and He was well known in their territory for his hunting talent.

However, if there was something he wanted more than anything? It was to hunt actually humans. He had begged his Lord father many times, and eventually, he was allowed to join the campaign against the Warlocks. But because of his pesky bodyguards he didn't have much fun, so any opportunity he got, had to be savored.

"Annoying kid"

Leon muttered while running through devil wood forest. This guy had popped out of nowhere and began chasing him, it wasn't part of his plan, and was the fault of the old man for delaying him.

— Puuu

Another arrow came flying, it cut through the blanket of the night and flew towards the back of Leon's head, threatening to impale it.

This time, Leon used the force of his momentum to grab the trunk of a nearby tree to circle around the tree and grab the arrow from behind before flinging himself to a completely different direction.

"Hmm? That was good, not gonna lie"

The young man praised. Leon was much better than anything he had ever hunted, Leon was able to easily dodge his arrows while maneuvering through the terrain of devil wood forest. This wasn't something just anyone could do, unless, they were used to being hunted.

—woosh

—woosh

Leon kept dodging and ducking, escaping every single arrow thrown at him. In his past life, he had been hunted down by countless people who sort to end his journey. This was not so different, he only needed to survive once again.

—Shooooooo

On the horizon, Leon heard the sound of water rushing violently, causing him to smile. A stream was in front, the best way to wash his scent off from pursuers was to go through a stream. All he needed to do now was to lose this guy then proceed to cross the stream, at that time he would be home safe.

"Follow me," Leon smirked before increasing his pace by 2 folds. This change in speed caused the young man to frown. "He still has some hidden strength?"

After all this running and dodging, Leon still had strength? That didn't make sense, or was he a powerful Warlock of the blood serpent clan?

"No, that's impossible...." Shaking his head, the young man put that possibility at the back of his mind. He had used a special treasure he got from his father to scan before chasing Leon, and it revealed that Leon could barely use magic.

"Hmp!!, you're only making if more entertaining"

The young man sneered and continued his chase, but even with his occasional shots of arrows. Leon was able to dodge every single one with little effort

However, this didn't mean it was going according to Leon's plan, Leon's main goal was to lose him before crossing the stream, but with each passing moment, it seemed more and more difficult to achieve this.

— Woosh

With one push, Leon jumped out from the shroud of bushes and trees that was devil wood forest And onto the bank of the stream he had sensed.

—Shoooo

The stream of glistening water resounded in Leon's ear, and the cold from the water splashing on rocks chilled his skin. It had been a long time since he saw running water, it was very nostalgic. Though, he didn't really have time to take in the atmosphere.

This was because he was still being chased by a hunter. A second of inactivity could lead to his death.

—Woosh

Leon rushed towards the stream in an attempt to cross over before the hunter could catch up. However, he was a bit too late....

—Puu

An arrow came flying past him and struck the ground in front of him. "This guy" Leon turned his head and looked up at one of the trees In the distance. There the hunter sat with his bow drawn, on his face a look of delightful bliss.

The speed Leon assumed on this last sprint nearly threw him off, it was astonishing for someone who looked so frail and weak to be so fast and nimble. However, it was over now. Leon had reached a dead end.

"Dead-end rabbit," the hunter smiled and drew his bow, Before Leon could successfully pass the stream he would be impaled by arrows.

"No choice" Leon smirked bitterly, then Before the hunter could react, he dashed back into the forest and directly into a dense pocket of shrubs and leaves.

"Hm? Futile!!" The hunter quickly trained his bow On the dense pocket of leaves. As soon as Leon exits, he would pierce him with his arrows.

Unfortunately, that was not Leon's plan.

—shhh

The sound of a blade being unsheathed rang from the opposite side of the tree the hunter was standing on.

"Huh?"

A flash shone across his eye, making him flinch. An arrow had just narrowly grazed his left eye. He didn't have time to think at all, as soon as the arrow flew past him, a slight breeze blew across his neck, this instinctively made him jump backwards onto a tree beside him.

"Huuu, huuuu" The hunter breathed heavily

Within a brief few seconds, he had seen his life flash before his eyes twice. The first was from the arrow head and the second was from Leon, who was currently standing with a dagger in his hand on the tree he had just jumped from.

Leon had used the arrow to distract him while he used the opportunity to climb onto the tree and attack him.

"You f*cker!!!" The hunter immediately drew out another arrow.

But to his surprise, his bow had been split into two by Leon's previously attack.

"This person....."

He was stunned as he realized this.

(This person isn't normal, from stealing one of my arrow heads, so he could distract me to cutting my bow in two the first moment he got.....he must be a seasoned fighter)

The hunter couldn't help but become serious after having this thought. Leon was thinking 3 steps ahead of him, it was terrifying. This wasn't the normal boar fights he was used to.

(You wanted to play, right? Let's play.)

Leon thought in his mind before launching himself at the tree the hunter had retreated to. "Hmp!!" Seeing Leon's action, he pulled out a short blade adorned with elegant designs from his waist.

(You think you can defeat me head on because you could get a few sneak attacks in? Keep dreaming!!)

—Clang!!

The first strike came in with Leon aiming for the hunter's head, but that strike was easily blocked. The second strike soon flashed forward, cutting at the hunters' Arms. Again, it was countered abet it being a closer call.

—Clang

In just a few seconds , several attacks were exchanged between both parties. Each showing a great level of close quarter attack prowess.

However, at the end of the day, there had to be a winner. And not surprisingly, the person with the most attacks landing was none other than.

Leon.
