Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Cousin-Chapter 317: Soft-hearted Towards Him (5)_1
Chapter 317: Chapter 317: Soft-hearted Towards Him (5)_1
"Looks like you have a pretty good impression of her." Qi Cheng’s tone dropped.
"I didn’t mean anything by it." Knowing he had misspoken, Assistant Gao quickly apologized. But it still didn’t quell the anger rising in Qi Cheng; the matter regarding Ms. Xingwei left him seething. He hated anyone who spoke on her behalf!
Ji Yunhuan came up from downstairs, only to hear the sound of things being thrown inside.
She opened the car door and saw Assistant Gao standing on the side, with the cup that was on the table now lying on the floor.
Ji Yunhuan walked in and looked at the scene, "What happened? Why are you so mad?"
"Nothing." Qi Cheng didn’t really want to mention Ms. Xingwei in front of Ji Yunhuan.
"Then I’ll leave." Assistant Gao lowered his head and left the room.
Ji Yunhuan glanced at his back. Qi Cheng usually trusted Assistant Gao quite a bit; what happened today?
In Assistant Gao’s view, Ms. Xingwei genuinely treated Qi Cheng well, even better than Ji Yunhuan did. What she did yesterday was because she felt too unworthy.
Ms. Xingwei originally belonged to Qi Cheng. Now, it didn’t seem to matter much. But Assistant Gao really couldn’t understand why Qi Cheng treated Ms. Xingwei like that—he completely ruined her reputation and any chance of her staying by his side.
Because Qi Cheng could never touch a woman who had been with another man.
Assistant Gao still remembered Ms. Xingwei’s expression when he sent her away yesterday.
Ji Yunhuan sat on the side, staring at Qi Cheng, "What’s the point of getting angry when you’re sick? Assistant Gao is so good. If it weren’t for him..."
"If it weren’t for him, what?" Qi Cheng interrupted her, annoyed.
Ji Yunhuan didn’t hold back either, "If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be here to see you. I’m here for his sake."
"You care about him that much?" Qi Cheng found it hard to believe Ji Yunhuan came here to see him just because of one of his subordinates?
Ji Yunhuan said, "He dragged me here. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have come to see you."
She glanced at him, not wanting to bring up Ms. Xingwei.
But she knew Ms. Xingwei had been in this house because the photo she sent her on WeChat that day was taken in this room.
Qi Cheng said nothing. His heart turned cold by Ji Yunhuan’s words. Ji Yunhuan asked, "Can someone get me a change of clothes? I’ve been wearing this nightgown all day."
All because of that Assistant Gao.
He didn’t even give her time to change clothes.
As if he was afraid she’d run away.
"Clothes?" Hearing her request, Qi Cheng frowned.
"You’re not going to give me any?" Ji Yunhuan felt a bit disappointed looking at his expression. Was he really that stingy?
Qi Cheng gestured towards the dressing room, "Inside."
Ji Yunhuan walked in the direction he pointed. When she reached the door, she heard Qi Cheng sitting on the bed, speaking in his gruff voice, "You’ve been away too long. You don’t even know your own home’s things anymore?"
This sentence made Ji Yunhuan pause.
She pushed open the dressing room door and found it was still the same as before she left. The dressing room was large, filled with Qi Cheng’s clothes, ties, watches, shoes, and socks, all neatly arranged.
On the other side, there were feminine items. The clothes Ji Yunhuan used to wear were almost untouched, and those she hadn’t worn were replaced by new ones.
Seeing this, she didn’t know how to describe her feelings.
Especially with Qi Cheng’s words echoing in her mind, "You’ve been away too long, you don’t even know your own home’s things anymore."
When she came back last time, she thought there was no place for her in the Qi Family. But standing here now, it felt as if she had never left.
Ji Yunhuan randomly picked an outfit and changed. She walked out.
The maids had already delivered the food.
Ji Yunhuan stood aside, feeling a bit awkward, looking at Qi Cheng.
Qi Cheng’s eyes turned to her and froze—
The clothes she wore were ones he had seen on a trip abroad his last time. Standing on the foreign street, he saw the clothes in the window and suddenly missed her. He couldn’t help but imagine how she would look in them, so he bought them. Not only that, but many of the new clothes inside were bought similarly.
He knew she wouldn’t be back, so no matter how many clothes he prepared for her, she might never wear them.
Each piece in there was something he personally bought for her, solely to vent his uncontainable longing.
Seeing the clothes on Ji Yunhuan, Qi Cheng’s fingers instinctively tightened. Waves of emotion stirred within him.
"Is it really that good-looking? Your eyes are glued." Ji Yunhuan found it odd. The clothes weren’t that spectacular. She had worn better ones. Did he really need to react like this?
Maybe her nightgown was so ugly it hurt his eyes, and he was refreshing his vision now?
Hearing Ji Yunhuan’s words, everyone’s gaze fell on Qi Cheng. They all curiously looked at Qi Cheng as if to confirm if he really was as fascinated as Ji Yunhuan said.
Qi Cheng snapped back, not about to let them see him act out of character.
He calmly said, "Everyone, leave."
The servants knew Qi Cheng liked being alone with Ji Yunhuan, so they left.
Ji Yunhuan looked at Qi Cheng. "You sent them all away. Who’s going to help you eat?"
His eyes fell on her, making it clear she was the one. There was no one else. Ji Yunhuan said, "I am not your maid."
But she still walked over to his side.
No matter how he usually behaved, no matter how much he angered or deceived her, she didn’t want to treat him too harshly when he was sick. Because every time she was ill, no matter how reluctant Qi Cheng was, he always treated her very well.
She was a cold person. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t one to repay kindness.
Ji Yunhuan sat on the stool by the bed, picked up a bowl, and handed it to him, "Do you want to eat?"
A severely ill person has little appetite. When the doctors gave Qi Cheng IV fluids, they included nutrients, so he could absorb them without eating.
But eating is a natural urge. He hadn’t eaten for so long. He probably wanted to taste something.
Qi Cheng nodded. Ji Yunhuan said, "Then hold it yourself."
He was awake now. He had the strength to lift a bowl.
Qi Cheng looked at Ji Yunhuan, seemingly not expecting such an incredulous demand from her.
Ji Yunhuan saw him not move, "Don’t want to eat?"
"Feed me," he said hoarsely.
Ji Yunhuan laughed, "No."
