Chapter 257: Fix the problem

"I can’t believe your plan actually worked; we got her," Matthew exclaimed with excitement as he walked over to Vixen.

A chuckle escaped from Vixen’s lips as he observed Matthew carrying glasses of champagne, each filled halfway.

Matthew then started handing them out to Vixen, John, the lawyer who was supposedly representing Abigail Camino, and, naturally, the sheriff overseeing Vixen’s case.

"Thank you," Vixen expressed with gratitude as he accepted the cup handed to him.

Afterward, he turned his attention to the other men gathered around him.

"I believe it’s only fitting that we raise our glasses in a toast to celebrate this joyous occasion, don’t you agree?" Vixen proclaimed with enthusiasm, prompting everyone to join in the gesture.

With their glasses raised high, they all took a sip from their cups, savoring the moment together.

"So, regarding Miss Abigail, have you come up with any ideas on how we’re going to extricate her from Mia’s custody?" inquired the sheriff, breaking the silence with his question.

Vixen let out a deep sigh before shifting his focus to the large window in the sheriff’s office. This expansive window offered a panoramic view of half the city, capturing his attention momentarily.

The sheriff quickly picked up on the troubled look on Vixen’s face and, with a note of concern in his voice, asked, "Is there anything we should be aware of, Mr. Vixen?"

"Before Vixen was introduced into the room, we actually received a message, sir." It was Matthew who took the initiative to inform him.

The sheriff’s face clouded with a frown, and he inquired, "What could this message be about that seems to make you uneasy about it?"

In the following moment, Matthew reached into his pocket and handed the sheriff his phone for him to review.

"This is quite overwhelming," the sheriff remarked, visibly astonished.

"Mia recently took action; she snapped a photo of Abi and forwarded it to us, anticipating we would abandon the case immediately upon receiving it," Vixen explained, shifting his attention toward the sheriff.

"But Mr. Vixen, haven’t our officers managed to pinpoint her location?" John inquired, observing as Vixen directed his gaze toward him and gave a nod in response.

"She will return before the evening sets in. For the moment, I need her to believe that Abi remains under her control; without a doubt, she will reach out to her people immediately to confirm that Abi is still in their possession."

"Therefore, whatever actions we take, it is crucial to ensure she continues to believe she has achieved victory," Matthew stated with unshakable confidence.

"Moreover, considering she has already understood that this situation extends beyond just Mr. Vixen," remarked the lawyer handling Abigail’s defense case.

They all gave a nod of agreement, and with a deep sigh, Vixen reached for the champagne and took a sip.

"It will be interesting to see what she intends to do next. Mia has already faced defeat once, and she is well aware of this."

"There is simply no chance that she will manage to harm my family as she did in the past," Vixen declared, his voice icy and his gaze fixed on nothing in particular, lost in thought.

Mia let out a low growl as she was being urged to move forward, with the officers having to physically guide her to take each step.

Her reluctance was evident, as she resisted the attempts to make her walk in compliance with their instructions.

The officers found themselves compelled to apply pressure to get her to move as they directed.

This resistance on her part was perhaps due to the fact that she was being led to her cell.

Mia could not suppress the grinding of her teeth, a clear sign of her determination not to forgive whoever was responsible for her predicament.

Her thoughts were particularly focused on the lawyer who was representing Abigail in this matter.

As she navigated the corridors, she was eventually shoved into a cell, and the shackles on her wrists were taken off.

Mia, filled with rage, was on the verge of kicking the cell bars when a voice interrupted her.

"I advise you not to bring that fiery temper of yours into this cell. Believe me when I say it won’t be as intriguing as the world beyond these walls," said the person whose voice seemed strikingly familiar, prompting her to turn her head to look behind her.

Among the individuals she had directed to eliminate the bald-headed man, this one now found himself detained.

Yet, despite his precarious situation, did he truly possess the audacity to address her with such disrespect?

"You," Mia snarled, advancing towards him with the intention of grabbing his collar with force.

However, in a swift motion, he landed a slap on Mia’s cheek, causing her to gasp and clutch her cheek in shock.

"How dare you?" Mia thundered, preparing to retaliate, but just then, the other man present in the room intervened, stepping between them to prevent further escalation.

"Ma’am, he sincerely apologizes. He often loses his temper and was likely frustrated by being incarcerated," the other man attempted to reason with her, but was taken aback when Mia abruptly slapped him as well.

"Stay away from me! Do you have any idea how valuable this dress is? Even if you worked tirelessly for your entire life, you still wouldn’t be able to afford it," she exclaimed at him, only to notice his expression shift to one of bitterness.

In the next instant, he advanced towards her with a chilling, intense stare.

Mia tried her best to look like she was not affected by their sudden movement towards her because her heart was terribly pounding because of their closeness.

She knew she had hired these men to kill the baldheaded man but then if hey let her stay with these men any longer, for sure they were going to get her killed.

"Hey, what do you think youre doing. I’m not going to spare you once I get out of this place," she warned him as he moved closer and she stepped backwards not until she hit her back on the wall.

She was shruddering from within.

"If you really had the money to get out of this place then tell me why you’re in this place. You may have money but then unfortunately for you ma’am, you got no respect. You should be behind bars for the rest of your life," The guy straightforwardly stated.

" Hey, how dare you," Mia who was agitated because of his words found herself raising her hand to give him a slap but then unlike before he held her hand making it impossible for her to lay a hand on him.

"Didn’t you hear what I just said? You should be grateful that I don’t slap women back or ma’am you would be lying on the ground with your cheek burning from the slap i’m going to give you."

"Trust me, i’ll make sure that you stay in this jail all your life. Just trust me, ill make sure you wouldn’t find another day outside this place," Mia threatened.

"Well, that would be good to hear at least I would be better off staying here, but then do you know one thing ma’am, you would also follow us because you know your actions can’t be spared." The guy told her making Mia frown.

"What do you mean by that?" Mia said in shock but then she managed to remove her hand from the man’s grasp.

Her hand began to burn because of the hold on her hand.

The red bruises began to reflect on her wrist.

"Why don’t I just take care of her, after all she’s not useful," The other guy who stayed quiet for a while tried to head towards Mia but then the guy close to Mia stopped him before he could come forward and then shook his head.

"Leave it, man. You’re just going to hurt her," the guy calmly said.

At the next moment the bar of the ceil opened and then with an eye conniving and excitement, Mia hurried towards the police officer who stood in front of the ceil.

"Officer, can you see what they are doing to me?" Mia said as she showed the bruises mark that was on her cheek.

"They both are trying to kill me," Mia complained but then she noticed a frown on the police officer’s face.

Then the woman said; "I thought you hired them to commit your crime, so why would they think of hurting you? You’re their boss."

"I-" Mia looked at her in shockand said; "Why do you expect me to know?"

"Well, then, you have a vistor." The policewoman said and then excitement former on her face acknowledging that it must have been her lawyer or her aunt who came in to bail her.
