Chapter 184: First Official Date (3)

"This one?" Daisy raised the light pink one, then turned slightly in front of the mirror. Her lips rounded a little at the sight before she shook her head. "Can you bring the shock pink one instead?"

The staff nodded instantly and rushed to bring the one Daisy pointed at. Meanwhile, Theo stood two steps away, smiling as he watched her.

"I think the light one suits you more..." He tilted his head, eyeing both the bag and Daisy. "Or if you want, you can just take all of them."

Her eyes widened slightly. "Can I? Can I?" She jumped in excitement before rushing to hug his waist, pouting. "I’ve been fasting from buying handbags for almost a year now..." she added with an exaggerated snort.

Theo laughed, his chest rumbling lightly as he wrapped an arm around her. "A whole year? That’s practically a miracle. Someone should give you an award."

Daisy tilted her head up with a mock glare. "You think I’m joking? Aurora even said she should email the Guinness World Records about it."

Theo laughed louder, then softened his expression as his hand slid gently through her hair. "That must’ve been hard for you..." he murmured, looking down at her face while she looked up at him. "Since I’ve got the money, use it. Buy whatever you want... that’s what a husband’s for, isn’t it?"

Daisy blinked up at him, her heart skipping for a moment. "You’re going to spoil me," she said softly, though her smile was already betraying her words.

"That’s the plan," Theo grinned, then tapped her nose lightly. "So, which one are you taking? The light pink, the shock pink, or... both?"

She laughed and leaned her head on his chest. "That’s one dangerous question..."

Theo smiled widened. "Then since it’s been a year, how about all the pink ones here?"

She covered her mouth in surprise, "Really? Realy—really?!" She jumped again in excitement, then turned around looking at the neat row of handbags around her but then her smile faded and she suddenly stopped moving before she turned back to him, "Why pink? Do you remember anything?"

She then squinted her eyes and moved closer to him, "But... as long as I remember, I never told you that I like pink..."

Theo leaned down and tapped her nose. "You’re easy to read. And honestly, honey, your things in the dressing room are all in that kind of color—pink, peach, white, or pearl white."

Daisy blinked, then let out a small laugh. "You’re not wrong... I guess I just like soft colors. Anything close to pink is loveable to me."

Theo smiled, brushing her cheek gently. "Then I made the right guess."

Theo’s eyes softened as he looked at her. "Then choose anything you want," he said quietly but with that confident tone that always carried weight. "I’ll buy them all."

Daisy’s eyes sparkled, and she almost squealed, but the staff’s amused looks made her cover her mouth with both hands, giggling instead. Theo chuckled, brushing a strand of hair from her face before heading to the counter to settle the bill.

Outside the store, behind the reflective glass wall, Joana stood still among the passing crowd. Her phone was raised, capturing a few photos of Daisy and Theo inside. Her lips pressed into a thin line with no smile, no hint of friendliness left.

She lowered her phone slowly, her gaze following the couple with something unreadable, as the boutique lights shimmered faintly in her cold eyes.

"I thought you’d never smile again," Joana muttered under her breath. "Never knew this was your happiest day..."

Her thumb hovered over the phone screen as she opened the gallery, scrolling through the pictures she’d just taken. A small, bitter smile curved her lips. Carefully, she selected a few shots where Theo’s face wasn’t visible and sent them to a group chat.

"Let’s see how long that smile lasts tomorrow," she typed, her expression hardening as the message sent with a soft chime. She then turned and left.

They walked out of the boutique, Daisy practically glowing while Theo’s hands were full of shopping bags. He exhaled and amused, glancing at her. "Happy now?"

Daisy grinned, linking her arm through his. "Happy!"

"Great... we should head for food now, I’m hungry..." Theo chuckled and turned slightly, spotting Alex standing not far from them. He raised his hand, signalling him to come and take all those shopping bags.

Alex immediately approached, but instead of reaching for the bags, he leaned closer to Theo’s ear and whispered something quietly.

Theo’s expression shifted instantly, his smile fading, his eyes narrowing just a bit. "When?" he asked in a low tone.

"Just a few minutes ago," Alex replied under his breath, his tone calm but urgent. "We’re checking the person’s background, should we detain her?"

Daisy blinked, her cheerful expression dimming. "What’s wrong?" she asked softly, noticing the change in Theo’s face.

Theo straightened slowly, his hand tightening slightly around the shopping bags. "No," he said after a beat, his voice firm but quiet. "Don’t detain her yet. Just keep your eyes on her and find out what she wants."

Alex nodded once, stepping back without another word.

Daisy tilted her head, concern made her brows knitted together. "Theo... what’s happening? Who are you talking about?"

He turned to her, forcing a small smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. "Nothing for you to worry about, honey," he said softly, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face. "Just... work things."

Daisy didn’t look convinced. "Work things? You’re not even working these days, don’t lie."

Theo exhaled and leaned closer, resting his forehead briefly against hers as if to calm her. "I’m not lying... Something has been happening at the office and it is nothing big, so don’t let it ruin our date, okay?"

Her lips parted, as if to press further but his tone and the warmth in his eyes made her pause. She nodded slowly. "Okay..."

Theo smiled faintly, "Let’s go... time to eat." He passed all the shopping bags to Alex and clasped Daisy’s hand, "I’m starving..."
