Chapter 163: Looking like him

Her head felt heavy as she slowly opened her eyes. She sat down and dug her fingers into her hair, recalling everything that had happened earlier.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she slowly rose from her bed, taking shaky steps towards the mirror, and burst into tears when she saw her reflection.

She took a deep breath in an attempt to control her emotions, but it was futile. She sat on the ground, drew her knees to her chest, and buried her face in her knees.

Her shoulders felt a lot heavier.

She was supposed to be happy, right?

She was relieved that Cyrus’ normal state was still alive, but she couldn’t stand the fact that it was temporary.

She couldn’t deny that she was relieved he was still alive, whether in his dark or normal state, but all she wanted was for him to be safe, complete, and one with her.

She raised her head and sniffed, wiping her tears away with her hands. "Screw that! Crying is not going to help my situation." She growled at herself and stood up, still wiping her tears.

"I need to find those mages and figure out how to heal Cyrus’ soul." She sniffed and whispered.

Her chest rose and fell heavily, her eyes were puffy, revealing that she had cried, but she was going to do her best.

She changed into a green knee-length dress, fitted pants that matched the dress, and black boots.

It felt comfortable. She was confident enough to fight knowing the fact that she would surely meet danger.

She sighed and put on a black furry coat before going to the mirror to check her reflection and tie her hair into a pony tail.

"Hmm." She smirked and chewed her lower lip as she turned her gaze to the door, where she saw Snowflake in his dark state, seated in front of the door, his nine tails spread out and swaying out of sync, but it was so alluring to look at.

Sage couldn’t help but be intimidated by the unending dullness in his eyes.

"Cyrus said you were sick." Sage said calmly, taking cautious steps towards the fox.

"What are you here?" She inquired, looking down at the fox as she approached him.

He immediately raised his threatening gaze to her. The dark glint in his silver eyes glowed with rage.

Sage smirked, feeling less threatened by the cute menacing fox.

"Your presence here indicates that you are aware of my desired location." She squatted to the height of the fox and whispered. "Are you here to stop me because you want Cyrus to stay in his dark state?" Sage inquired, her eyes turning fiery red and her pink lips parting slightly in an intimidating manner.

"You may be a guardian beast, but I am not going to let you stop me from saving my husband; after all, isn’t that your job? Are you upset because I took your job?" Sage inquired, smirking as if she had overheard a dark joke.

Snowflake’s eyes were no longer dull, and he actually appeared impressed. He cocked his head to the side, and Sage realized he wanted to accompany her.

"Oh?" Her brow furrowed, but she quickly picked up the fox and stood up with him in her arms.

She was curious how the fox got to Leimpia, but since Cyrus was just an ice dragon, the nine-tailed fox wasn’t just a guardian beast.

She walked out of the room, the door slamming loudly behind her.

She went straight to the library and saw Arthur standing there, dressed in all black, his hair a little messy but it also highlighted his attractive face.

When he saw Sage, he smiled, but when he saw the nine-tailed fox in her arms, he jerked back in surprise.

"Why in the hell is he here?" He exclaimed. "He is supposed to be in the castle!" He added as he tried to catch his breath.

"Can we go now?" Sage inquired immediately.

Arthur nodded slightly. "We are waiting for someone. Don’t we need more help?" Sage cocked her head to the side, her fiery eyes narrowing at him.

Arthur swallowed. "Every day, you act more and more like him." He muttered, rubbing his neck and clearing his throat.

"I do not want to wait for anyone." Sage hissed angrily.

"Trust me, you will need my assistance." A familiar female voice said behind her. It was the same voice as the hooded warrior she met when she first arrived in Leimpia.

Sage’s lips twitched as Arthur’s words echoed in her head.

"Every day, you act more and more like him."

"You speak of him as if he is dead." She scoffed, and Arthur smiled brightly.

Sage turned to face the warrior and nodded slowly. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

She was a fiery golden-haired beauty with slightly light hazel green eyes and a small mole beneath her left eye.

She bowed slightly, intimidated by the queen and the nine-tailed fox in her arms.

"I am Freya, my queen." She introduced herself and stood up straight.

Sage smiled. "Hello, my name is Sage." Then walked out of the library, past Freya.

Freya smirked and shook her head in disbelief. "She is really..."

"Really?" Arthur inquired with a deep chuckle.

Freya sighed and glared at Arthur. "I am surprised she is so close to you. She is unaware that you are a coward who only cares about yourself." She growled at him, turned away, and walked out of the library.

Arthur’s smile vanished, and his eyes flashed in their thick black dragon reptile form. "Am I?" He inquired as he walked out of the library.

Sage exited the mansion and closed her eyes as she walked down the few steps stairs. She clutched Snowflake, who was now wearing a glum expression.

’Is he really sick? He does feel hot... he has always felt as cold as Cyrus,’ she thought as she walked down the last step of the stairs.

Freya was a dragon, and Sage recognized her as a weak dragon, which piqued her interest in the warrior.

"Why would a weak dragon be a royal warrior?" Sage questioned herself and turned to face the mansion, where Freya and Arthur were walking down.

"How do we find the mages?" Arthur was the first to ask.

Sage let out a long sigh as the warriors approached her.

"Darren." She called out, and the halfling appeared beside her, drawing glares from the warriors.

"We must meet with the earth mages." Darren informed them.

Sage chewed her lower lip thoughtfully as Arthur and Freya exchanged glances.

"Stop doing that! You are starting to look a lot like him!" Aurora’s voice abruptly reprimanded Sage harshly, causing her to gasp in shock, drawing everyone’s attention while the nine-tailed fox in her arms frowned deeply.
