Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 210: Memories of friendship 5
"What’s the matter with you? What’s wrong with your eyes?" River noticed Cyrus’ maniacal stare at him with those strange eyes.
"You don’t understand, do you?" Cyrus scoffed, tightening his grip on River’s shoulder until she saw River’s face etched in agony and heard a crack of bone that made Cyrus smile.
His dark and demonic states had merged, which meant he wasn’t thinking at all while emitting an impossible power that was supposed to exist.
River yelled in pain and gritted his teeth, unable to bear the pain any longer. The little one still didn’t understand what was going on with Cyrus, and Cyrus himself wasn’t in the right frame of mind to explain anything.
"Stop it! "What’s the matter with you?" River vegan struggled against Cyrus and succeeded in pushing him away, then glared at him when he saw murder intent in those strange eyes.
A wicked smile curved those lips, and for a brief moment, Cyrus appeared in River’s eyes as a being of destruction and death, which terrified him.
"You are not Cyrus," River snarled angrily.
Every time his mother tried to force him to sleep, he remembered the stories she told him. Draco, the cursed dragon who feasted on other dragons’ souls. That story had always forced him to sleep because it was nothing more than a terrifying nightmare, but at that moment, he appeared to be staring at Draco.
"Are you still interested in being my friend?" Cyrus inquired again in a singsong tone, approaching River with his double-colored eyes blazing ominously.
"Keep your distance from me." River grunted in pain from his dislocated shoulder.
"No one wants to be near me. They all fear me and see me as a nuisance, a curse, except you! Do you think you can fool me by claiming we’re friends?!" As the mist around them began to fill the darkness, Cyrus yelled and glared at him dangerously.
River was taken aback by Cyrus’ words. "What?" That was the only thing that came out of his mouth.
"Deceiver! You want to become my friend so that you can easily murder me later! I was poisoned by my own subject, with whom I had done nothing wrong previously!" Cyrus screamed those words with rage, but River felt... Pain.
The mist in the darkness was making it difficult for him to see Cyrus, who was ostensibly standing in front of him.
"Cy..."
"What exactly did you say?" Cyrus cut off River’s words with a spine-chilling laugh. "No matter what you do, I will never end our friendship," he said as he mimicked River’s voice and burst out laughing again, only this time his actions caused River to frown and clench his fists. He was hurt.
"You.."
"Let me show you what I’m capable of!" Cyrus abruptly yelled, cutting River’s words again.
The mist completely obscured him from River’s view, and River gasped, his eyes darting around in panic, hoping to spot Cyrus.
A powerful force formed from the dark mist blasted him just as he turned around. Hard. And he landed hard on his back, out of the mist.
He yelled in pain and coughed up blood.
The force of the voice that pierced his chest was too much for him to bear. He stood up, clenching his fist and narrowing his eyes at Cyrus, who was now walking out of the mist that was entering him like a sponge absorbing just the right amount of water. But that wasn’t Cyrus, the ice dragon who had saved his and his sister’s lives and treated them as equals.
"Draco." Through his teeth, he growled. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Cyrus came to a halt, tilting his head to the side. "You are brave, and I admire you for it, but you will not last long." He laughed, those strange eyes glimmering darkly, and his cute dimples visible even though his laughter didn’t reach his eyes.
"River!" River heard Ophelia call out and turned to see her on the ground, covered in bruises, her clothes tattered, revealing that she had been in a fight.
There was still a battle going on between the armies of Antica and Fireria, but what drew his attention was seeing Esteban, still in his dragon form, breathing fire at Ashton and attacking him.
Esteban abruptly reverted to his human form, and the battle between him and the demon became more intense.
"Permit me to tell you something." River’s attention was drawn back to Cyrus when he suddenly whispered.
River wore a solemn expression and rested his hand on his aching chest.
"I’m going to kill everyone here, but don’t worry, I probably won’t hurt Ashton."River’s eyes widened in surprise as Cyrus ended his words with a deep hiss.
"You’d never do it." River snarled.
Cyrus nodded and then vanished from view. River gasped as he felt a tap from behind him, and when he turned, he was hit with another blast that sent him flying straight to Ophelia, where he coughed up blood.
"River?!" Ophelia exclaimed in surprise.
"Be quiet." River snarled at her, and as he stood up, Cyrus appeared in front of him, ready to blast him, but River caught his wrist and bent his hand until Cyrus’ wrist cracked.
Cyrus’ eyes blazed with rage as he took a step back, held his broken wrist, and glared menacingly at River. The mist oozing from him suddenly spread, and his body sucked it back in.
The mist in front of him began slipping out of him and forming into a ball, swirling continuously until it began to grow larger, mixing with a sharp light of sapphire glow.
"You are not my friend!" "You were planning to leave!" Cyrus yelled at the top of his lungs, his pain audible in his voice.
River was stunned and froze. He tried to figure out whether Cyrus was acting this way because he had been poisoned or because River was about to return home.
"That’s right, I’m Cyrus’ friend, not yours!" River responded with a yell of her own.
Cyrus’ face sagged. In disbelief, he scoffed and rolled his eyes. "I’m going to send you to Ashton’s father." He muttered and released the dangerous force he had built towards River, but just as it was about to hit Ashton, Ophelia appeared out of nowhere and took the powerful blast that sent her flying into the sky while she was rendered completely unconscious.
