Married to the loveless CEO-Chapter 116: Nine lives
"Answer me Cia, don’t lie to me...tell me the truth!" Silvia demanded.
"He is alive but in critical condition," Cia responded. It was heartbreaking to hear about the death of Mrs Elizabeth but Silvia couldn’t help but feel relieved to hear that Davian was alive.
"He is currently in the ICU. He is in a comatose state," Cia continued.
"Mrs Elizabeth is dead, this... that’s..."
"Awful. It will break Davian if he hears the news," Cia jumped in.
"Can I just see him? Please..." Silvia pleaded.
Sentencia sighed, "Fine. But it’s at a distance. You can’t go into the room,"
Silvia nodded.
She stood up slowly from the bed in which she had been sitting on the edge. She held the drip stand with wheels and she left the room with Cia.
They were soon at the intensive care unit and Silvia stood outside Davian’s room with Cia. She stared at him from the glass walls, tears began to walk down her cheeks.
It broke her heart to see him that way, all those machines and breathing aids connected to him. He was unconscious but it was as if she couldn’t help but imagine how much pain he must be in right now and it was also as if she could feel the pain too- His pain.
"But I have some good news too. He is responding well to treatments and once he is completely out of danger. We will be able to move him out of the intensive care. Though, we are not yet sure when exactly he is going to wake up," Sentencia explained further.
Silvia held the glass wall, tears clouded her vision, she just nodded at Cia.
She hopes so...
That he will be out of danger completely, that he will be able to wake up and get better. But then... there’s breaking the news of his mother’s demise to him.
Silvia sighed.
She went back to her room after standing there, staring at Davian for more than an hour. She wanted to hold and hug him, so much.
When she got to her room, detective John Parker visited her after some few minutes.
"Hello Ms. Reyes or sorry, Mrs Randell," he smiled at her.
"Hi," she responded weakly.
"Sorry about what happened. I’m also sorry for not coming to see you earlier," John apologized.
"It’s okay," Silvia responded.
"Well as for the case, we got to see the surveillance cameras of that place and we got a footage of a man who lingered around your car on that night for a long amount of time.
"The footage also caught him red handed tampering with your car but the problem is, he was hooded and wearing a face mask. So we couldn’t recognize him but we are still working on it." John elaborated.
"We’ve got the best of our teams to handle this issue and I promise you Mrs Randell, we won’t disappoint you. Do you happen to have any suspects in mind? So that we can bring them in for questioning. Do you think Gabriel Yul could be responsible for this?" John asked. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Silvia thought for some while, "I... really don’t think so," after all the torture she had given to that scumbag, he wouldn’t have the guts to go against her again or pull this kind of stunt or do such a thing.
Then there’s some of their old nemesis in the underworld but even them too will not be capable of doing such, because her family was still feared and they still have great influence there even though they have left that life behind.
Those people can’t possibly be responsible for this. But they also can’t be too complacent.
"From the look of things and from all the statements we have gather so far including yours which my partner had taken. I think you were the main target in this but your husband and mother in law so happened to be in the car on that night," John informed.
Silvia thought about it, Becca and Leah came to her mind, but were those two really capable of this? She didn’t want to point fingers yet without concrete evidence.
"(Sighs) I... really can’t think of anyone for now detective and I don’t want to just point fingers without proof, so..." Silvia replied.
"Alright, but if you have anything that might help with the investigation, don’t hesitate to share. I’ll leave you to rest now," John responded, Silvia nodded and he was out of the room.
She lied back on her bed and sighed once again.
...
Davian was soon out of critical dangers as predicted and so he would be moving out of the ICU, though he hasn’t woken up from his coma.
Silvia pleaded that he should be brought to her room as it was large enough to contain multiple beds, she just wants to be close to him and watch over him. She wants to be the first person he sees when he wakes up and she definitely was.
Cia had come to check on both of them as usual that day. Silvia stood by her as she attended to Davian. Silvia’s hand went to his and she squeezed on it gently.
"Please wake up soon...I love you," she whispered. Sentencia couldn’t help but smile bittersweetly at her friend.
"He will wake up soon. As you can see, though he still needs the heart monitor so that we can monitor his heart and pulse rate. He is already breathing on his own without the breathing aids. So we are sure he will wake up very soon," Cia informed. Silvia was more than happy to hear that.
When Davian’s eyes opened slowly that day, Cia was no longer in the room. His eyes walked around the place until it landed on Silvia who was lying on a hospital bed close to him and she was asleep.
His mind immediately miscalculated that she was in dire condition because of the bandages on her head and right arm and the breathing pipe connected to her nose.
Tears fell from his eyes which ached for being shut for a long time. His throat felt so dry as he manages to whisper.
"I’m sorry... I’m so sorry Silvia,"
Her eyes immediately opened when she heard his voice though it was in a very low tone.
"Davian," she voiced and she forces her tired body to stand up, she went towards him after pushing the buttons to request for a nurse and doctor, and she brought her drip stand with her.
"Davian, you’re awake," tears started falling from her eyes as she held his hand again.
"You’re okay Silvia? I’m sorry... I’m the reason you are currently in this pain right now, I couldn’t prevent the accident from happening," his tears continued to fall. She wiped it off with her fingers.
"Don’t blame yourself, it wasn’t your fault. It is the fault of whoever that tampered with my car and I promise you they wouldn’t get away with this," she replied.
"How are you feeling? I thought I lost you," he inquired.
Silvia smiled, "I should be asking you that. I’m all fine now, don’t mind the breathing pipe and drip- Cia said I still need them. I might look like I’m in so much pain but I’m not, okay? It just hurts a little so you don’t have to worry,"
"I’m fine Silvia. This husband of yours has nine lives," he jokes and she chuckled. The sound of her chuckle, being able to hear it again made him to managed a smile.
She returned the smile.
Sentencia and two nurses walked into the room and they started checking up on Davian.
"You are doing quite fine Davian, keep up with this rate and you will be able to recover soon," Cia assured.
"Oh, thank you Cia. I do feel a little sore and dry though, everything stings and I can’t move a muscle especially my legs, almost can’t even feel them anymore," Davian related.
"Don’t worry Davian. That was how I felt when I first woke up too," Silvia mentioned.
"Yes. Yes that’s right," Cia seconded.
"Silvia, can I have a word with you for a sec?" Cia requested after some while.
"Okay," Silvia agreed and they walked out of the room.
"Davian...will be unable to walk temporarily," Cia started.
"What? What do you mean Cia? What are you talking about?" Silvia reacted.
"He experienced some fractures in his spine and waist. Though a lot of cases this leads to complete and permanent paralysis of the legs, Davian’s lucky," Cia explained.
"Are you trying to say my Davian will be on wheelchair?" Silvia questioned.
"Not permanently Silvia. It’s just temporary and after much treatments and therapies, he will be walking soon. But it will be frustrating to him as it will require a lot of patience and perseverance.
"We will all need to support him in this moment, especially because he would be finding out soon that his mother is dead," Cia answered.
"How many more things are you keeping from me concerning this, Cia?!" Silvia demanded.
"I’m really sorry Silvia. Nothing more, but...I was just watching out for your well being and Davian’s too and that’s why we are not going to tell him yet that his mother is dead and he will not be able to walk again for the meantime.
"It could have adverse effects on his condition if we break the news to him now," Cia responded. Silvia managed to nod and they returned to the room.
"By the way, how’s my mom doing?" Davian inquired.
