Married to the loveless CEO-Chapter 57: Loveless
Silvia was speechless. She didn’t know how to respond. He caress her cheek once more.
"I knew I always had something for you, I expected it to die off but instead, it grew day by day the more I spent time with you.
"And after kissing you that day at our engagement party, I knew that what I was feeling was beyond mere affection. I was already deeply in love with you." he explained. He has had feelings for her for that long.
He brought her head to his chest and rested it there. He knew she was taken aback by his confession and things might not be the same after this.
"You don’t have to say anything today. Let’s just sleep," he added.
She didn’t object, she was too speechless right now, she didn’t have anything to say about it today.
...
Silvia woke up slowly. She had slept like a baby close to him despite her discomfort from his confession.
She looked over to her sides, he wasn’t there. Where could he be?
She was on his shirt and beneath the blanket. He must have wore it on her and tucked her in. She sat up, everything from yesterday came rushing into her mind.
’Davian is in love with me,’ she thought.
How true was it?
If it was true, then...
She face slapped herself. What’s wrong with her? Why did she sleep with him?!
Wait...
They had forgotten to use protection, but it’s okay, nothing to panic about. She recalled he didn’t ejaculate inside of her and she wasn’t in her fertile period anyway.
But she will still do other precautions later, she doesn’t want to get pregnant. She shouldn’t, their relationship was complicated enough already, so better careful than sorry.
She sighed. She was asking for too much, first a contract marriage with no intimacy and now yesterday, what was she expecting?
A sex life with him without leading him on, without any of them harbouring feelings for each other? Why did he fall for her?
She hugged her knees. Does she share his feelings? This is so not how this should be going and it’s her fault for not controlling the situation, for letting herself go.
Does that mean...she likes him too, because no one can control love and that was why it was scaring her.
What you can’t control might destroy you, it was the very reason why she was so against getting married when she was being pressured to.
She knows it isn’t too fair generalizing it but all the people close to her, that she has known all her life, weren’t experiencing the best of marriage. Cia’s parents were dead, Olivia’s parents... don’t even go there, theirs was even worser than her parents.
Her parents? Her mind began to drift off to some happenings in the past.
One of those days in the mansion, she was just fourteen then. Her parents’ room was close to hers and she could clearly hear them fighting even without eavesdropping.
"You told me you wouldn’t do it again but you still went ahead to do this! What did I ever do to you?!" she heard her mom say, from her tone it was obvious she had been crying.
"I have needs Janet. Needs that you certainly can’t give to me," her father responded calmly, not a hint of remorse in his voice.
Silvia immediately understood what was going on and what they were fighting about.
"What exactly are those women offering to you that I can’t offer? I’ve been with you, supported you, gave you a child. Even if you don’t think of me anymore, don’t you think of her before you do all these?!" Janet asked.
The fights became so frequent that her dad sometimes doesn’t come home, for ’his peace of mind’ he would say.
Her mom became so depressed that there was a time she even attempted suicide. She cut her wrists but was seen in time and was taken to the hospital.
"Why would you do this mom? Do you really want to leave me alone? With who? Dad? So that he can bring in one of his mistresses someday to the mansion to live with me!" Silvia cried close to her mother in the hospital bed.
Her mother held her cheeks; "I’m sorry. I let my depression win but it won’t happen again. You are right, I will never attempt to leave you again Silvia, I promise," her mother replied.
"Don’t you guys love each other anymore?" Silvia demanded.
"Love?" her mother repeated and forced a small laugh despite her weak state.
"It was love that got me into this mess. Into this depression and into this hellhole of a marriage," she answered.
"Then why don’t you guys just get a divorce? It’s okay with me, it’s better than you both living in a prison you call marriage," Silvia suggested. Her mother smiled weakly.
"It’s not that easy, Silvia. It will affect the family’s image greatly," her mother replied.
Silvia almost rolled her eyes. It was still all about the family’s reputation, what family? It was clearly an unhappy one. Why do they have to sacrifice their happiness and peace of mind all because of what the public might think.
"We can’t get a divorce. But I promise you Silvia, from now on...I don’t care how many mistresses you father keeps, I’m going to live for you and myself."
And she really did but what Silvia never expected was for her too to start cheating. She found out one day when her mom and her were chit chatting at her room.
Her mom decided to use the restroom. Her phone made a ding sound once she left and Silvia decided to take a look, I mean it’s her mom what could she be hiding.
That prospective changed once she saw what was sent to her mother. It was a photo from a ’Collins’, blood rushed to her cheeks and ears.
"Hey Silvia, what the heck are you doing with my phone?" Janet grabbed it from her.
"You received something and I decided to check," Silvia responded.
"It doesn’t give you the right to go through my phone, don’t do it again next time just ignore it," Janet reprimanded her, her eyes went to the photo, she couldn’t hold back herself from biting her lower lip. She called up someone.
"I need to take this Silvia. I’ll be back," Janet said once the line started ringing. She began to walk towards the door once the person picked up the call.
"You are so naughty. I told you not to send things like these to me anymore," Janet told as she walks out shutting the door.
She was back soon.
"Who was that mom?" Silvia didn’t hold herself back from asking.
"Just a friend. Where were we again?" Janet asked, inquiring about their previous conversations.
"Are you sure mom? A friend wouldn’t send you a nude photo mom. Who is he?" Silvia pressed on.
"What is this? A police interrogation?" Janet asked.
"Are you cheating on dad?" Silvia questioned.
Janet was silent for some while. Her silence was Silvia’s answer but Silvia searched in her eyes deeply wanting to believe that she was wrong.
"And what if I am? Your dad is still cheating, it’s just levelling the playing ground," Janet finally responded. Silvia was hurt.
"The playing ground?" she asked, was that what this was to her mom?
"Yes," Janet replied.
"Because dad is cheating, doesn’t make it right for you to cheat," Silvia said.
"Look Silvia. I want to be happy, I deserve to be and I can’t be happy with your father anymore, if you want me to be sane then don’t judge or question me about my cheating.
"I don’t want to be depressed over a man who doesn’t even care if I am and is just enjoying his life with his mistresses." she laid emphasis.
"Were you guys ever in love? Is this how love is?" Silvia asked, tears starting to form in her eyes.
"We were, sweetie but love tends to grow cold and we just fell out of it at some point," Janet answered.
"I’ll tell dad if you don’t cut ties with that man," Silvia threatened and her mother laughed.
"Go ahead, that’s the door," Janet replied.
"I’m not bluffing. I’m serious mom, I will," Silvia continued.
"No one’s stopping you," Janet said.
With creased brows, Silvia stood up and walked out of the room. Her mother thinks she can’t do it, well she can. How will her father react to it?
She got to her dad’s study where he was and knocked on the door. She opened it when she heard him say come in.
"Sweetheart, what brings you to my study?" her father smiled at her.
"Dad..." she hesitated. This might be what will finally break her family.
"What?" Alan asked and so Silvia continued.
"Mom’s cheating on you," she said and he scoffed.
"That’s old news," he responded.
"W-What? You knew about it? And you’re cool with it?" she inquired.
"I don’t really care what your mom does with her life. It’s her life, I have mine and you have yours." he replied.
Silvia couldn’t believe her eyes and ears. What is this? Were these people are parents?
The sound of the door of the room opening, jolted Silvia out of her thoughts. Davian came in with a tray of breakfast in his hands.
"Good morning sleeping beauty," he smiled at her, she didn’t respond. He sat on the bed facing her, putting the tray in between them.
"I made breakfast," he continued. He was all freshened up in a woven black turtle neck long sleeve t-shirt.
Her eyes were so fixed on him. Will Davian turn out like her father? Will their marriage end up well if she gives her loveless self a chance to love?
His hands reached out for her; "Are you okay?"
She flinched moving away from his hold.
