Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 121: You’re the Purest Girl in the World! (Part 1)
Gazing at the torn divorce papers in Ethan Sterling’s hand, Seraphina Thorne bit her lower lip and silently picked up her bag from the sofa.
"I’ll talk to you when you’ve calmed down."
Walking through the living room, she opened the door to leave.
Since she had decided to divorce, she shouldn’t continue to stay here.
This place used to belong to the Thorne Family, but now it’s Ethan Sterling’s house.
"Seraphina!" Ethan chased after her, grabbing the handle of her suitcase, "Where are you going?"
"That’s my business, none of your concern."
"As long as we are not divorced, you’re my wife," Ethan stepped forward, closing the door tightly, "Without my permission, you have to stay here."
Seraphina gritted her teeth, dragging her suitcase, and turned back up the stairs.
Listening to her footsteps disappear upstairs, Ethan turned around and sat back on the sofa powerlessly.
He grabbed the cigarettes on the coffee table, fished one out, and lit it in his mouth.
Frowning, he leaned back on the sofa, slowly exhaling a puff of blue smoke.
Upstairs.
Seraphina dragged her luggage back to her bedroom, grabbed her phone and flicked through it, feeling restless, so she simply pulled back the quilt and lay down on the bed.
Tossing and turning, she couldn’t fall asleep.
Her empty stomach soon growled uncontrollably.
Flying all the way back from Elysia, she hadn’t touched the in-flight meal, and after landing, Ivy Langley invited her for dinner, but preoccupied, she barely ate a bite.
Now, she was already starving.
Climbing out of bed, she rummaged through her room, but found nothing to eat.
She opened the door and went downstairs, stepping into the living room.
The living room lights were off, and the smell of smoke hit her.
Choking on the smoke, Seraphina raised her hand to cover her mouth and nose, unable to hold back a cough. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Sitting on the sofa smoking, Ethan hurried to stub out the cigarette in the ashtray already full of butts.
"Who told you to come downstairs?"
Seraphina ignored him and turned to the kitchen.
Opening the fridge, she took out milk and bread, found a small pot to heat the milk, and placed it on the stove.
Just as she lit the fire, Ethan came over and snatched the milk pot from her hand.
"Go upstairs."
"I’m hungry, can’t I eat something?"
"Go upstairs!"
With a heavy thud, she placed the cup on the counter, turned around, and went upstairs, frowning and sulking.
A moment later.
Soft footsteps, someone knocked on her room door.
Knowing it was Ethan, Seraphina pretended not to hear.
Ethan pushed the door open and came in, Seraphina quickly pulled the quilt over her head.
Placing the plate in his hand by her bed, Ethan turned and left.
Pulling the quilt aside to peek, Seraphina glanced at the nightstand.
Seeing the steaming dumplings on the plate, she couldn’t help but swallow.
"Hmph, I won’t be tempted by your fake kindness!"
Turning over, she covered her head with the quilt again.
Yet, the aroma of dumplings kept wafting into her nose.
In the end, hunger won over, and Seraphina sat up, picked up the plate, and began to eat without reservation.
Finishing the entire plate of dumplings, she contentedly patted her now full stomach.
Getting up to brush her teeth and lying back down, drowsiness overtook her, and she fell asleep without realizing it.
When Seraphina woke up, it was already the next morning.
Opening her eyes and getting up, she went to the bathroom to wash up, feeling something amiss, she glanced at the nightstand—
The empty plate was gone.
Guessing that Ethan had quietly come in to remove it, Seraphina pressed her lips together and entered the bathroom.
After washing up, she changed into her clothes to go out.
Seraphina carried her violin downstairs.
Immediately spotting Ethan Sterling asleep on the sofa, leaning back in his thin shirt, the ashtray on the table before the sofa overstuffed with cigarette butts.
Feeling a chill, she glanced around.
Noticing a window ajar on one side of the living room, she hurried over to close it tightly.
Leaving a window open on such a cold day, has he gone mad?
Her gaze fell on Ethan on the sofa, she took two steps away, then turned back, grabbed his coat from the rack, and carefully draped it over him.
Picking up her violin and bag, she quietly changed her shoes and opened the door to leave.
The doorbell suddenly rang.
Seraphina opened the door, startled to see Nathan outside.
"Is Ethan home?" Nathan’s voice was hoarse, looking as if he hadn’t slept all night, appearing somewhat haggard, "I need to talk to him."
Seraphina opened the door wider and let him into the living room.
Meanwhile, Ethan, sleeping on the sofa, was awakened by the doorbell.
Rubbing his face with both hands, he stood up from the sofa.
Seeing Nathan, his face darkened.
"There’s nothing for us to talk about!"
Nathan stormed over, standing before Ethan.
"Why did you hurt Chloe?"
"I hurt her?" Ethan yanked his hand away, "I saved her life, I took care of her, and I still hurt her... Nathan, even if you like Chloe, you can’t just side with her. Just because she likes me and I don’t like her, does that mean I hurt her?"
"You..." Nathan glanced at Seraphina, "Get dressed, let’s talk outside."
"No need." Seraphina held her violin, "You two talk, I’m... I’ll be going."
"Stay!" Ethan shouted at her, "Anything I say to him, you can hear. I, Ethan... have a clear conscience!"
"A clear conscience?" Nathan grabbed his collar, "If you don’t like Chloe, why did you lead her on, why did you get involved with her, and say those things?"
"What are you babbling about, when was I involved with her?"
"Chloe said it herself!"
"She said it and you believe it, but you won’t believe me?" Ethan’s voice rose, "Just because she’s your sister, you believe her even if she lies. Fine, call Chloe here, I’ll confront her face to face. I want to ask her, when did I ever touch her, when was I ever with her!"
"You!" Nathan clenched his fist angrily, "Don’t think that because you saved her, I won’t dare hit you!"
"Go ahead, hit me right here!" Ethan pointed to his face, "In your eyes, it’s like only your sister matters, everyone else is irrelevant."
Nathan raised his right hand, then shoved Ethan away.
"I misjudged you!"
Spinning around, he stormed out of the living room.
"Misjudged? Yeah, I’m a damn bastard, it’s all my fault!"
Cursing angrily, Ethan stormed to the bar, grabbed a bottle of liquor, filled a glass, and gulped it down.
Watching him pour a second drink, Seraphina couldn’t hold back any longer and walked over to snatch the bottle from him.
"I didn’t want to interfere in your matters, but... I think it’s necessary to tell you, Chloe attempted suicide."
Ethan’s hand holding the glass froze mid-air.
"Chloe attempted suicide? When did this happen?"
"I’m not sure when exactly, I only know she was still in the hospital yesterday under emergency treatment."
Placing the liquor bottle on the bar, Seraphina shouldered her bag.
"No matter what, you two had something, if you still have any sense of responsibility, go see her!"
