Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 97: Planting a Little Young Mr. Sterling in the Belly (Part 1)
Seraphina Thorne never expected that Nathan Foster would suddenly ask about her marriage to Ethan Sterling.
"Well..." She lowered her lashes, hiding a smile, "Marriage is just marriage, what else could it be?"
Nathan stretched out his right hand and tapped on the documents on the table.
"These documents show that you two got married recently and didn’t even hold a wedding. Did I get it right?"
Seraphina shrugged her shoulders, deliberately sounding relaxed.
"It seems that nothing can be hidden from Attorney Foster."
"Seraphina!" Nathan frowned and stared into Seraphina’s face, "How could you not even tell your brother about such a major thing as getting married?"
Seraphina’s expression suddenly became tense: "You... you told my brother?"
Nathan gently shook his head: "I just mentioned Ethan Sterling. Your brother asked me who Ethan Sterling was."
As a brother, he didn’t even know his own brother-in-law.
Nathan sensed something odd about the situation and didn’t rashly explain Seraphina’s marriage to Caleb Thorne.
After returning, he immediately looked into Seraphina and Ethan Sterling’s situation and only then found out the time they got married.
"Seraphina!" Nathan softened his tone, "Don’t you think you’re being too hasty?"
Seraphina lowered her face, pondering for a moment.
"Nathan, I know you’re concerned about me, but... marriage is my personal affair. I hope you focus on my brother’s case instead of these trivial matters."
"Of course, it’s your private matter, I have no right to ask. I just feel..." Nathan furrowed his brow, "Seraphina, marriage is a lifelong affair. You should be more careful. After all, I’m your brother’s friend, I don’t want you to get hurt!"
"Ethan Sterling hasn’t hurt me, and I won’t regret my decision."
Seraphina raised her face, returning a smile to Nathan.
"I hope you continue to keep this secret for me, until my brother’s case is over, I will personally explain it to him."
Seeing her unwillingness to discuss it further, Nathan nodded and didn’t continue to press.
Nathan’s inquiry was also out of concern.
As Seraphina said, marriage is indeed her private matter.
He’s just Caleb’s friend and naturally doesn’t have the authority to meddle.
"Alright."
Seraphina gratefully smiled at him, "By the way, Nathan, is Chloe’s hand okay?"
When she mentioned Chloe Foster, Nathan’s tone immediately turned nervous.
"What happened to Chloe?"
Seraphina briefly explained what happened during today’s recording to Nathan.
Hearing that Chloe’s hand was injured, Nathan stood up from the sofa and grabbed the car keys on the table.
"Seraphina, let’s wrap up our chat here for today. I want to go check on Chloe first."
Without waiting for Seraphina’s response, Nathan had already turned around and left the office in a hurry.
Seraphina came out of the office, watching his departing figure and gently shook her head.
This brother certainly cares deeply for his sister.
"Seraphina!"
Ivy Langley just returned from outside along the corridor.
Seeing her, she immediately jogged over and pulled Seraphina into her office.
Poured a glass of water and handed it to Seraphina, Ivy sat beside her, blinking with an ambiguous look.
"How is it?"
"What do you mean, how is it?"
"You and President Sterling!"
"Us... what could it be?"
"Don’t pretend!" Ivy grinned mischievously, reached over to pull open her coat collar, poking at her neck, "This evidence of crime is still on you, was the speed a bit high last night?"
Seraphina blushed, busy tidying up her collar.
"Aren’t we husband and wife?"
"Wow... look at that shy little expression." Ivy leaned in closer to her, "Be honest, did President Sterling confess his feelings to you?"
Seraphina pressed her lips, "Sort of!"
"What did I say?" Ivy laughed leaning back against the sofa, "These big eyes of mine never see wrong."
Seraphina also laughed, "Yes, your insightful eyes, right?"
Just while they were talking, Ethan Sterling called, and upon hearing Seraphina was at Nathan’s law firm, he offered to come over and pick her up.
"Alright, I’ll wait for you downstairs in a bit."
Ivy saw Seraphina to the elevator entrance and held her hand.
"I know, Adrian Chamberlain’s incident hurt you deeply, but there’s no need to give up on all men because of one. I also misunderstood Ethan before, but I can see he’s serious about you. Seraphina, don’t miss such a good man!"
Seraphina gently nodded, "Then I’m off?"
"Go on, go on, enjoy your sweet date." Ivy smiled pushing her and then held onto her, whispering a reminder, "By the way, if you’re not ready, remember to use contraception, don’t end up planting a young Mr. Sterling in your belly!"
"So improper!"
Seraphina shot her a glance before entering the elevator.
Remembering Ivy’s words, she subconsciously touched her belly.
Last night, Ethan Sterling didn’t use any measures.
But soon, Seraphina relaxed.
It was just one night, how likely could it be?
She took the elevator downstairs, stepping out of the office building.
"Honey!"
At the bottom of the stairs, Ethan Sterling was already waving at her.
Seeing him, Seraphina immediately broke into a smile, running towards him. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"So soon."
"I was nearby."
Ethan opened the car door, settling her in the front passenger seat, then circled around the hood, sat in the driver’s seat, and started the car.
"Where are we going?"
Ethan turned his face, winking at her.
"You’ll know when we get there."
"So mysterious?"
"Of course, it’s our first date as Mr. and Mrs. Sterling, I have to plan it well."
Upon hearing the word "date," Seraphina couldn’t help but break into a smile.
"By the way." Ethan pulled out the set of keys Seraphina had previously left at The Paramount Gardens and placed them in her palm, "Little forgetful, don’t leave them behind next time."
Last time, because of a misunderstanding with him, she had wanted to separate.
Thinking about it, it was entirely her own doing.
If she had asked him one more question back then, maybe things wouldn’t have turned out this way.
Clasping her fingers around the set of keys, Seraphina nodded lightly.
"Don’t worry, from now on... I won’t do such foolish things again."
Ethan started the car, driving onto the road.
It was already rush hour, there were many cars on the road.
Ethan focused on driving, while Seraphina sat in the passenger seat, looking at him.
Her mind flashed over bits and pieces of their time together over the past few days.
Ivy Langley was right, she shouldn’t give up hope entirely because of Adrian Chamberlain.
Ethan stopped at the red light, glancing at her expression.
"Staring at me like that, am I that good-looking?"
Seraphina didn’t avoid his gaze, nodding gently.
"Very handsome, very good-looking."
"Good, then keep looking." Ethan restarted the car, "After all, a lifetime is so long, you can look for as long as you want."
A lifetime?
Seraphina smiled.
She hadn’t thought that far ahead.
Initially, marrying him was indeed impulsive, partly out of anger with Adrian Chamberlain.
But...
She doesn’t regret it.
Just like she told Nathan upstairs.
No matter what happens between her and Ethan in the future, whether they can truly be together, Seraphina won’t regret marrying him in the first place.
