Martial Arts Worlds-Chapter 312: Montclair High vs. Tiamut High
"Yeeeeeeeeeees!"
Jonathan and Julia jumped off the bench and ran over to Kiernan with smiles spreading across their faces.
"We did it…"
Coach Jin touched his balding head, grinning from ear to ear. It felt unreal, as if they were living in some kind of dream world.
This kind of thing was unthinkable only two years ago.
Yet, here they were, in the finals of the nationals!
At the opposite bench, it was silent, with tears running down the cheeks of the defeated team. The taste of the defeat was bitter and heartbreaking.
"Hell yeah!"
Karma's friends cheered as they held up a banner that read "Kiernan!"
"Why the hell did you guys bring that banner?"
Karma asked with a twitching eyebrow, but he was also smiling at the sight of his son's victory.
It was unreal to him how much his son had actually changed from that timid young man who trained in his backyard to the confident and skilled warrior standing before him now.
They were almost like two completely different people!

…
Kiernan left the ring and high-fived the excited teammates of his, who gave off such joyful energy that it made even him smile.
He didn't really think that his victory was ever in doubt, as he believed that there was only one person in the entire nationals that could pose a challenge to him.
Therefore, he didn't really celebrate yet even though they had reached finals, which was an amazing accomplishment.
'I still have to defeat him…'
At that moment, someone put a towel over his head, and he turned around to see who did it. It was Julian, with an expression that said, 'You're daydreaming again.'
"Smile, why won't you, Kiernan?"
Julian showed a broad smile.
"Here."
Kiernan forced a smile on his face, but it didn't reach his eyes, and then wrapped the towel around his neck.
"One more match, huh?"
Julian hopped with the crutches and turned to look at the large screen, where the next matchup was already being displayed.
It showed Zachary's face, smirking as if he were the god's chosen child or something.
"You're most likely to be fighting against that bastard. Do me a favor and punch his teeth down his throat for me."
Kiernan chuckled at Julian's words, and then, amidst the cheering of the crowd, they retreated back to their locker room.
They only had a few hours of rest before the finals.
…
Irio, Dooh Bar.
"Free drinks for everyone!"
The owner of the bar shouted.
"Yeah!"
The patrons cheered and raised their glasses in celebration, spilling a little bit of the beer, but they didn't mind since their next drinks were free either way.
Through the television screens all around the bar, they just finished watching Karuza High reach the nationals finals!
It made them all proud of being Irio's citizens, and they couldn't wait to cheer them on in the championship match.
"Hmm~"
Jordan massaged his chin while looking at the screen, deep in thought. The beer on the table was starting to get warm.
"Jordan, what'cha thinking about?"
His friend, Maurits, asked.
"It's just about this kid on the television. I remember meeting Kiernan a while back. That was like two or three years ago."
Jordan said.
"Oh?"
Maurits looked curious and asked more about it.
"I was taking my dog for a walk near the park when I came across Kiernan doing his morning jog. He was just a scrawny-looking kid back then and looked like throwing a single punch would be difficult for him.
"He wasn't anything like the one you're seeing on the television these days. I just remembered that meeting out of sudden…"
"Right, I remember there being stuff about Kiernan, about how he lost in the first round of the local tournament, but then shortly after that loss, he led Karuza High to the nationals quarterfinals."
Maurits said with a chuckle and enjoyed his foaming beer.
"A late bloomer, I suppose."
Jordan said and took a sip of his slightly warm beer, which had lost quite a bit of its taste and fizz.
…
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Fireworks exploded across the sky of Tiamut, and with the roaring of the audience, the two teams walked to their respective benches.
It was loud as hell, and over half of the cheers were for the home team, Tiamut, and the banners of Ariadne, which included her name and face, flapped in the wind.
"Ariadne! Ariadne! Ariadne!"
"Crush that muscle monster!"
"You can do it, our queen!"
Marquise, the coach of Tiamut High, got seated on his bench and looked coldly towards the opposite bench, where everyone was standing except Zachary and Alabaster.
The rest of the team looked like their servants, but they didn't dare to say anything and just kept their mouths shut and hung their heads low in fear of getting smacked.
'The mood in that team is very off. It is clear that the rest of the team is being abused somehow, but this Alabaster guy doesn't seem to care enough to put a stop to it.
'I've heard that Montclair High used to be a high-class school with a great reputation, but now it's going downhill fast. The downfall is being spearheaded by their new coach and their ace student, Zachary…'
At that moment, the referee arrived at the ring and told the two teams to bring forth their first fighters.
Everyone turned their focus on Montclair High, wondering if they were doing the same plan as in the rest of the matches so far.
And just as expected, Zachary stood up with a smirk and arrived at the ring while flexing his muscles.
"And Montclair High's first fighter is Zachary Lokiah, their ace! It looks like he is planning to take down Tiamut High all by himself!
"Is he perhaps underestimating Tiamut High a little bit too much?!"
Zachary scoffed at the words of the commentator and cracked his knuckles.
"Rose Marie, be careful."
Marquise said with a deep voice.
"Oh?"
Rose Marie, Tiamut High's vanguard, looked at their coach with a look of surprise, then nodded and went to the ring.
But, as soon as she arrived at her corner, Zachary's cold shadow loomed over him like a cloak of death.
Rose Marie looked way up to catch Zachary's eyes, but when she saw his emotionless state, she felt a chill run down her spine.
