Marvel: Hunter-Chapter 343: Accomplished
The first thing Blaine saw was a massive star core, about two meters in diameter.
"What the hell..."
"System, is this thing a tenth-level star core?"
[Yes.]
"This is really the first time I’ve seen such a huge star core."
"This should be the most impressive star core I’ve ever seen."
"Is it because it’s protected inside Sakaar,"
"That its energy isn’t being consumed?"
"If it retains the most energy, can it be exchanged for more money?"
"Even if it’s used as upgrade material, can it achieve twice the result with half the effort?"
For a moment, Blaine couldn’t help but fantasize. There was no helping it—the star core was simply too captivating. The feeling of seeing something you had long dreamed of right in front of you was truly wonderful.
[The exchange rate remains unchanged.]
[Upgrade materials can indeed allow upgrades of more than one level.]
[However, it’s not without consumption.]
[There is still daily consumption.]
[It’s just that this is the original form of a tenth-level star core.]
[As for why the Infinity Gems are so small,]
[That’s because without the protection of a planet’s outer shell, they were long ago eroded by space and reduced in size.]
[In addition, from time to time, when encountering other universe-level bosses, they would take them out and shave off a bit.]
[That’s how what you see now was formed.]
[Also, this isn’t meant as an attack on the host.]
[The star core you’re seeing now]
[Is actually the lowest-grade among tenth-level star cores.]
Before Blaine could even be happy, the system poured a bucket of cold water over him.
Blaine didn’t react much at all. Instead, he wore an expression that clearly said, go on, I’m listening. After hearing the system’s mockery and cold remarks countless times, Blaine seemed somewhat accustomed to it.
In short, no matter what the system said, he had obtained a tenth-level star core—that was what mattered.
"Oh, right."
"System, you said this is the lowest level among tenth-level star cores?"
"What kind of absurd principle is that?"
Every time he listened to the system’s long explanations—analyzing this and explaining that—Blaine gained new knowledge. Each time felt like a baptism of understanding. It could only be said that in his previous life, Blaine’s understanding of the Marvel universe had been far too shallow and one-sided.
However, the system also seemed eager to enlighten Blaine as quickly as possible. Every time Blaine unleashed a barrage of questions, the system would intentionally or unintentionally weave in other information, as if deliberately luring Blaine to ask even more questions—only to answer them again.
Could this be some hidden mechanism that allowed Blaine to learn the secrets of the Marvel universe in advance?
[Because Sakaar hasn’t existed for very long.]
[It could even be said that the formation of this tenth-level star core doesn’t rely on Sakaar itself.]
[It’s because of the cosmic environment here.]
"Because of the garbage dump?"
[Because of the wormhole, the space here is extremely special, and time flows very slowly.]
[So it appears that this tenth-level star core has existed for tens of billions of years.]
[But in reality, it’s only been hundreds of millions of years]"
[In this way, you should understand how depreciated this star core is.]
"Depreciated?"
"Isn’t that what you’re implying?"
"Are you planning to discount money exchanged for this star core?"
Although the system’s explanation was straightforward enough, Blaine still felt like he was being tricked—like a trafficker anesthetizing their target before committing the crime.
"Hey, forget it."
"Whatever."
After speaking, Blaine stretched out his hand and placed his palm against the star core. Spiritual power surged out, enveloping the entire core. In the next second, the two-meter-wide star core was taken into the Hunter space.
The instant the star core disappeared, Sakaar’s inner core seemed to collapse. Magma surged in from multiple directions, the soil above flowed rapidly, and massive rocks shattered for no apparent reason. It was like the end of the world.
Seeing this, how could Blaine dare stay any longer?
"Grandmaster, Grandmaster,"
"Not only did I pass by your metal key,"
"I also took your tenth-level star core."
"I’m taking the star core and running."
As soon as the words fell, Blaine’s body appeared on the surface.
When he had entered earlier, soil resistance had slowed him down considerably. But now, with the energy shield fully activated and instant movement at full speed, he escaped in less than three seconds.
Aside from a slight tremor beneath his feet, the mountain-like garbage heaps piled up in the distance suddenly collapsed without warning.
Seeing this, Blaine felt like a startled bird, like a child who had done something wrong. He felt uneasy, as if he ought to shout something loudly to reassure himself.
Fortunately, after waiting a short while, there was no apocalyptic scene of mountains collapsing, skies splitting apart, or rain pouring from the heavens. Only then did Blaine let out a sigh of relief.
It seemed that Sakaar’s collapse had begun internally. At least, there were no obvious changes on the surface.
"Metal key, tenth-level star core..."
"All secured. Let’s go."
This trip had truly been worthwhile.
Next, Blaine planned to head back to Earth. He had been away for many days, and it was time to go home and rest. After all, the original creed of a Bounty Hunter must not be forgotten—after completing a task, one had to rest for a week or two.
Although this interstellar wandering mission was rather special, Blaine had gained immensely from it.
As he thought this, a sudden gust of wind rose from a garbage dump somewhere on Sakaar. A black shadow shot upward at extreme speed, and moments later, it broke through the atmosphere and vanished into space.
As for the return journey, Blaine would naturally handle it himself—figuring out how to get back from coordinate.
It wasn’t that he feared space wormholes. With the energy shield, what was there to be afraid of? The real reason he wanted to hurry back was that Blaine hadn’t forgotten the purpose of this trip: collecting star cores and making money.
Since the journey back was long and there was no telling how much time it would take, why not take this opportunity to pass through more planetary belts and collect additional star cores, so he could return with peace of mind?
After all, Blaine remembered every coordinate along the route. So, aside from using paths outside the Milky Way, he intended to find a new route. Since he had already checked the way here, why not take a look?
After an unknown amount of time, Blaine finally returned to the coordinates where he had first ventured into space with Gali—and where he had first encountered the planet devourer.
