Marvel : I'm in Westview Town-Chapter 173: Easy To Deal With!
Chapter 173 - 173: Easy To Deal With!
At that moment, Finn felt a slight gust of wind stir beside him. A surge of black magical energy suddenly condensed and blasted toward his left side. The strike was as fast and abrupt as a thunderbolt.
A man appeared, cloaked in a black robe, his face hidden save for a pair of eyes as cold as death. Just looking into them made the air feel like it was plummeting into an abyss.
Finn narrowed his gaze and spoke in a low, hoarse voice. "Who are you? Another version of Mephisto?"
"You don't interfere in the matters of the Angelic Orders, and I won't trouble you this time," the figure said coldly.
Without further words, he approached Mephisto, seized him, and threw him into the swirling black hole behind him.
"Then I suppose I should thank you," Finn said with a cold smile. "But I hate being threatened."
As the words left his mouth, Finn's body suddenly launched like a cannonball. Kicking off with his right foot, he rocketed forward, his fist swinging with a howling gust of wind straight at the cloaked figure's face.
The man responded with a smirk of contempt and countered just as decisively.
BOOM!
The two collided mid-air. Finn was blasted back several meters before he stabilized, landing hard but upright. His eyes widened slightly in shock. "That power... it's at least 883 times stronger than the Mephistos I've fought before."
The cloaked man's eyes flashed with interest. Clearly, he hadn't expected Finn to take the hit and stay standing. But he didn't waste even a second, immediately launching a second assault.
Swish!
He extended his palm, black mist curling from his fingertips until it formed a spear of pure darkness. It crackled with destructive force as it shot toward Finn.
"Damn it!" Finn cursed under his breath. Instead of dodging, he rushed directly toward the weapon, his form exploding on impact into a cloud of flesh and blood—
"No!" the man hissed. He scanned the aftermath rapidly, his eyes narrowing. "Too fast... That wasn't him. It was an illusion!"
Suddenly, four afterimages of Finn materialized in front of him, each radiating a terrifying aura.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The man quickly summoned his defenses, but the blows still forced him back a step. Cracks splintered across the magical armor that shielded his body. He scowled.
"What a powerful illusion."
"You're only figuring that out now? Too late!" Finn growled, no longer holding back. This had escalated into a critical stage, and letting the cloaked figure escape would tip the scales far out of balance.
Dealing with two versions of Mephisto had already pushed his limits. Even with his mastery of dark magic, he couldn't handle four elite-level threats alone. Unless he obtained greater power, he wouldn't last much longer.
He launched himself like a meteor toward the cloaked figure.
But the man hesitated only for a moment before making his decision. He wouldn't get drawn into a prolonged battle. This opponent was more dangerous than expected, and even now, he held no real advantage.
Deciding swiftly, he grabbed the defeated Mephisto, carved a void portal with a slash of his arm, and vanished from the battlefield.
Finn tried to give chase, but the opponent's speed was beyond him. He had no choice but to stop.
"Looks like I'll have to pay them a visit next time," Finn muttered. His face turned solemn.
Tonight's battle had gone completely off-script. First, the appearance of two Mephistos. Then, the emergence of an even more terrifying mystery attacker.
"Why didn't you keep chasing?" came Stephen Strange's voice as he and the others arrived, clearly exhausted from their own battles.
They had already exerted themselves to their limits but still hadn't wanted to let their enemies escape. So when they saw Finn standing still, they couldn't help but ask.
"That guy's strength is unreal," Finn answered with a sigh. "We don't even know how deep his power runs." He briefly recounted everything that had just happened.
The others fell silent, the weight of his words sinking in.
"What now? Do we strike again?" Stephen asked slowly.
"Not yet," Finn replied, shaking his head. "I have other things to take care of. When the time is right, I'll join you."
Stephen nodded. "We need backup. We can't afford delays. This is getting too dangerous."
"Agreed."
The emergence of Mephisto and these other beings posed a real threat to the Prime Universe. No one disagreed.
The fight had made one thing clear: the enemy's strength was beyond expectations.
Fortunately, it didn't seem like there were many of them. If there were more... things could have ended very differently.
"Then you should head back," Finn said decisively.
He turned to Stephen once more. "Go back for now. When I'm ready, I'll find you. Then we can deal with the situation across the Stellar Convergence."
"Alright," Stephen agreed. They needed time to regroup. Even with all their efforts, they hadn't been able to bring the enemies down.
"And we still have to consider the Angelic Orders. They might make another move soon," Finn added.
"We'll deal with that when we can," Stephen replied. He opened a dimensional portal with a wave and disappeared into the multiverse.
Night had fully fallen. The sky above was pitch black, not a single star visible. Below them lay utter devastation.
The battlefield looked like the aftermath of a world war. Craters lined the ground. Trees were reduced to splinters. Rivers had been erased by the overwhelming energy released during the battle.
"Finn... what do we do with all of this?" Wanda Maximoff asked, surveying the wreckage with a haunted look.
There wasn't a single structure left intact. Dust filled the air. Ash coated everything.
Finn exhaled slowly. "No other option. We'll have to report this to S.H.I.E.L.D. Let them clean it up."
Wanda gave a reluctant nod. The sight was too heavy to look at for long.
"Alright, let's move," she said quietly.
Finn and the others agreed. They didn't return to their temporary base.
Tomorrow marked the seventh day of the cycle. If they failed to check in by then, their standing in the interdimensional operations unit could be compromised.
It was why Finn had told Stephen to retreat for now. Everyone was worn thin. They needed to regroup. Future battles would come—and they had to be ready.
