Chapter 22: CH 21: Peter x Gwen P2

Peter and Gwen were on their way to the school when she looked up at him "So how did it go? Was it a success?"

Peter nodded with a smile "Yup, it was. Not only did my already existing powers get enhanced, but I also got a new set of powers."

She smiled excitedly "Oh?! What are they?"

"Organic Super Webbing Generation and Manipulation!" He got to explaining, smiling excitedly himself "I already had organic webbing before, but this is like an extreme version of it."

"A stronger version? How much stronger?"

"Multiple times stronger. And by that, I mean a lot stronger. You see, my webs' stiffness, or tensile strength, is 3.12 gigapascals. One Pascal equals 1 Newton applied over a square meter, in case you didn't know. So that means a total of 3,120,000,000 pascals or Newton applied over a square meter!"

How did he calculate something like that? It wasn't even a challenge for his 980 IQ. He really loved his Superhuman Intelligence. He didn't keep it active all the time, only setting it at 250 like normal Peter's. But still, he wasn't afraid of completely releasing it.

Since he had Tobey Maguire Spider-Man's web, he had decided to use his amazing feat of stopping that train to measure the strength of his webs.

First, he calculated how much four R160 New York City subway cars — packed with a total of 984 people — would weigh (about 200,000 kilograms, or roughly 10 Atlas V rockets).

Then, he calculated how fast the train was going (24 meters per second, or about 53 miles per hour) and how much resistance the track would have offered as it charged forward (negligible).

From there, he could work out how much force the webbing would have needed to exert upon the train to stop it: about 300,000 Newtons, or about 12 times the amount of force exerted by a large American alligator as its jaws snap shut.

After considering the relative geometry of the train, webs, and buildings used to anchor the silk, he calculated the amount of stiffness, or tensile strength, required to hold the train in place without snapping.

That value was known as Young's modulus, a measure of the stiffness in elastic materials, and works out to be 3.12 gigapascals (one Pascal = 1 Newton applied over a square meter). He had calculated the entire thing the moment Gwen had asked.

But now? Now, the strength of his webs was simply absurd.

"3.12 gigapascals?!" Gwen's eyes widened "How is that even possible? Wait, if that was your original web's tensile strength, what about now?!"

"Now?" He grinned smugly "Hahahaha a whopping 15 gigapascals!"

"15- what?! That's just... wow... Wouldn't that be enough to stop a train going at full speed with just your webs?"

Peter was left speechless by her comparison "...Yup, definitely. In fact, even the old version of my webs would be able to pull that off, although with a lot of struggle. But now, it'll be easy peasy! And you know what's the best part?"

"What?" She truly was shocked, but she also couldn't help but smile at how excited he was. She knew that he couldn't just talk about these things with everyone. Not only did his excitement make her happy, but the fact that he trusted her enough to reveal these things to her warmed her heart.

"My old webbing isn't gone! I can use them both at the same time to make a multilayered webbing that utilizes both of their strengths! Hahahaha that means a total of 18.12 gigapascals!"

(A/N: So, I've decided on something. All the super spiders will give organic webbing, but not Spider-Men, if they don't have organic webbing. Why? I love the idea of having a webbing that can grow stronger lol.)

And went away all the feeling of warmth. Replaced with total shock. "...I don't even know what to say, besides that it's amazing. That will definitely help a lot with your crime fighting. I mean, who in the world can even get out of your webbings now? I doubt even most supervillains can pull it off."

"Heh, yeah, that's true. Poor criminals who are gonna get trapped in my webs. I also found out something. All the super spiders seem to give the same powers, but each one seems to give an enhanced version of a specific power.

The spider that originally bit me had a specially powerful Spider-Sense, while this one had special webbings. I don't know about the other ones yet."

"Ooh, that's useful! Do you think any of them will give any new powers?"

"I'm not sure, but there is a possibility. There may be one that gives a normal version of the original abilities, but gives a new power."

"Yeah, that is a possibility. I have a gut feeling you may get some form of venom though?"

"...Venom, huh? What makes you say that?"

"Spiders are famous for being poisonous. There is a large possibility that you may get some form of poison. It'll be either neurotoxic or cytotoxic, but I'm just scared of how effective it will be. Just your webbing is so powerful, think about how effective the poison would be."

"Yeah, that's a valid worry. Either of them would be seriously dangerous to use. But they would definitely be useful in extreme cases."

"I hope nothing extreme happens though. I don't want you to put yourself in danger."

Peter didn't even answer anything. Gwen was smart and knew just how powerful some bad guys out there were. But he couldn't just say nothing. Even if it was a lie, it was to calm her worrying heart "Don't worry, I won't.

With great power comes great responsibility, sure. But I've got two responsibilities above everything else, and that's Aunt May and my own life. I will never let her suffer what she went through with Uncle Ben ever again, and I made a promise to someone to never put Spider-Man's duties above Peter Parker's life."

"Your Aunt May would be so happy if she heard that." She smiled fondly "But who is this person you made such a promise to?"

"...Someone very, very precious." He smiled. And even though he tried to cover it with a pretty smile, she could see the sadness in his eyes. Her heart sank before she gently grabbed his hand "I'm sure that person would be proud of you now."

"I hope so." He gently squeezed her hand with a smile. A small, but blazing fire of determination in his eyes "Because if I ever were to break a promise, that won't be the one."

She nodded, taken aback by how serious his eyes were. They were the eyes of someone who would do absolutely anything to keep that promise. Not wanting the mood to get awkward or to let go of his hand, Gwen raised an interested eyebrow "By the way, we kinda went off topic, but does the spider venom also have the effect of making you grow? You seem a bit taller than yesterday. And definitely more muscular."

He nodded "Yeah. You remember how skinny I was at first. But when I got bit, I grew muscles all over my body. It's no surprise that the spider bite had the same effect this time too."

"Hahahaha, with this pace, won't you turn into a complete bodybuilder after getting the venom of all spiders?"

"Yeah, that seems like the direction this is going. I'm not complaining about it though."

"Hahahaha say that if you end up as jacked as Hulk!"

"...Okay, I've got complaints for that. I would rather have a healthy muscular build rather than looking like that." (A/N: Image of future Peter's body:)

The rest of their walk was spent just chatting while hand in hand. At least before they reached the bus stop and waited for it to arrive. They only let go of each other when it arrived and they stepped in.

The students of his school looked at him in surprise. He was a lot more buff than they had remembered. And a lot more handsome too, after not just his build, but his face, was also enhanced from the spider bite and he had actually taken care of himself.

Peter even noticed the three bitches of Flash's gang, Sally Avril, Liz Allan and Glory Grant, looking at him with more wonder than needed. He didn't care about Liz and Glory, those two loose bitches who couldn't make up their mind as to who to date.

But he didn't care about them. He had standards. And as little as Sally did get his attention for being a pretty blonde cheerleader, he could always just put a cheerleader outfit on Gwen and get the prettiest cheerleader instead.

'Actually, now that I think about it, that's a brilliant idea!' He bit back a lecherous smile. And for some reason, Gwen felt a shiver run down her spine.

As he followed behind Gwen to the empty seats, he felt the back of his head tingle a bit. So minor that a normal human probably wouldn't even notice it. But with how much importance he put on Spider-Sense, he would be able to feel any signal it sent him.

His eyes followed where his Spider-Sense instinctively led him, and he found Flash smirking as he quietly put his foot in front of Gwen who didn't notice. His goal was obvious, to embarrass Peter and his dear friend –well, former friend, to be exact– as an act of revenge for the embarrassment of yesterday.

His blood boiled instantly. In an instant, he pulled Gwen back and held her with one arm as he stomped hard on Flash's food. Causing his smug face to immediately turn into that of extreme pain.

But before he could shout, Peter's free hand gripped his jaw hard, forcing the shout down as he glared at him with murder in his eyes "Try shit like that ever again, and you might I just lose your fucking ankle, Flash. You get me?"

"P-Peter, calm down." Gwen tried to calm him. Even though she found his protective behavior extremely hot, she didn't want Peter to beat someone up. Especially since she knew that if he had a go at Flash of all people, after all those years of suffering, Flash's next destination would be the hospital.

And she was right, that was exactly what Peter had in mind. He didn't want to let go of old Peter's long time tormentor, but he didn't want to just ignore Gwen either. He shoved him away and to his girl, Liz, with a scoff "Bitch."

"Let's go, Gwen. We can sit together on those empty seats." His frown turned into a smile as he pointed at the seats a little further back. Only one was free, however. One seat was occupied by one of Flash's gang's member.

"Huh? But they're not..." She turned speechless when the asshole quickly got up and went to sit with someone else when Peter flashed him a harsh glare "...Unoccupied."

"They are now." He smiled and pushed her forward. The other jocks didn't pull any stunts for the safety of their ankles. As they sat down, they continued chatting. But about more normal subjects instead.

The school was the same as always. Although it felt awesome to understand and know things better than the teacher's themselves the moment they taught anything, the school itself was boring as ever.

Not like he or Gwen could concentrate on anything but each other though. They constantly found themselves smiling and giggling as they caught the other looking. Peter had to note everything down with his non-dominant hand because he just refused to let go of Gwen's hand under the table.

And when the school was finished and so was their shift at the ESU lab, they were finally ready for their long awaited date.
