Marvel: The Villain-Chapter 229 Round 1
A little over three hours later, Jason, David, Harley, and John met up in Richmond, the capital of Virginia.
Chloe had already planted a virus on Betty’s phone. Even if Betty wasn’t making calls, the virus could continuously transmit her GPS signal from the background.
According to the location data Chloe provided, the last signal from Betty’s phone disappeared deep in a forest on the outskirts.
Jason infused the other three with energy, temporarily granting them the ability to fly, and they sped to the airspace above the forest.
The dense forest was a perfect escape route. Even a criminal with no counter-surveillance skills could disappear into the mountains, and without a massive grid search, they’d be almost impossible to find.
Although Hulk’s intelligence was childlike, this subconscious choice was the right one. Most importantly, it had masked the GPS signal.
Jason’s own powers weren’t suited for tracking, but the team had an expert.
"David, find the Hulk!"
"Okay."
David flew ahead, descending closer to the ground and moving away from the others. He swallowed, closed his eyes briefly, and then opened his mouth to unleash an ultrasonic wave.
An invisible ripple spread out, feeding back the terrain details within a several-kilometer radius to David’s mind.
After a dozen seconds, David shook his head and flew to a different area, while Jason and the others waited.
Harley, thinking of the upcoming fight, couldn’t help but ask, "Honey, do you really think David’s super-wave can beat the Hulk?"
John: "Infrasonic."
Harley: "Same thing!"
Jason smiled and shook his head. "Based on that video, infrasound can definitely suppress the Hulk, but it can’t defeat him. The one who will truly defeat him... is me."
As he spoke, he held out his right hand, and a pale blue energy sword materialized in his palm.
Harley moved closer, staring at the blade. The energy sword had a design. On the surface, it looked like crystal, almost fragile, but a closer look revealed the energy flowing within it.
"So pretty!" Harley marveled, but then asked, "Honey, you said last time that your full-power sword could only cut his waist. Even with David suppressing him, it’ll still be hard to win, right?"
Jason dismissed the sword and looked at them. "That’s why I need you two to lock him down."
"John’s ice power is obvious. He’s a natural for control."
"As for you, Harley, you’ve been developing your power the way I taught you for over half a year. How’s it coming?"
Harley’s eyes lit up. "I can lock an RPG rocket in place for ten seconds!"
"Good. Here’s the plan: David suppresses him, you and John lock him down, and I’ll deliver the attack."
Hearing this, John interjected, "Boss, the plan is perfect, but the only problem is damage output. Even you, our heavy hitter, could only give him a minor wound."
Jason smiled. "John, you were a legendary assassin. You should understand that to kill, you attack the weak points."
John nodded, frowning. "Right, but the waist is a weak point. With the right angle, a short blade can slip past the ribs and hit the organs."
Jason waved him off, a sinister smile spreading. "Don’t worry. I’ve found a spot even more vulnerable than his waist."
John asked, "What spot?"
Jason was about to answer when David flew back.
"Boss, I found the monster."
"Let’s go. As for the weak spot... you’ll see in a minute."
......
Hulk was hiding in a cave over ten kilometers away. David’s echolocation had pinpointed his exact position.
Betty was lying unconscious deep in the cave, with the Hulk guarding her.
"I’ll say hello."
The four flew to the mouth of the cave. Jason formed an energy ball in one hand and hurled it at the entrance.
BOOM! A deafening blast echoed from the cave mouth. Surrounding rocks shattered and tumbled down the mountainside.
A moment later, an enraged roar came from within.
The Hulk emerged from the cave, his fists clenched, his dark green pupils filled with killing intent. The explosion had nearly harmed Betty, which made him furious.
"The monster’s angry. Be careful."
Of the four, only Jason had ever fought the Hulk. He was all too familiar with this state.
Hulk bent his knees, pushed off the ground, and shot toward the four of them with a bang.
"Scatter!" Jason yelled, and they immediately dodged.
Hulk hit nothing but air, crashing to the ground and leaving a large crater.
"Good chance! David, do it!"
David, who had been gathering his power, immediately descended.
When he was less than fifty meters from the Hulk, he took a deep breath and unleashed his infrasonic wave.
"AHHH!!!!!"
Hulk had just regained his footing when he felt an intense vibration wash over him. The infrasonic wave’s frequency matched that of his internal organs, immediately causing them to resonate.
An ordinary person would have died instantly, but the Hulk merely dropped to his knees.
At that moment, John and Harley swooped down, landing outside the range of David’s attack.
John crouched and slammed both palms on the ground.
A visible wave of frost, glowing white, shot straight and fast toward the Hulk. The frost struck his lower body, and a thin layer of ice instantly formed on his green skin.
Roar!
Hulk sensed something was wrong and roared, trying to break free.
The ice was still thin and fragile. With a slight effort from the Hulk, cracks began to spiderweb across it.
"Don’t move, you monster!"
Harley appeared on the opposite side. She held her hands out, parallel, palms facing inward, and then clapped them together hard.
Clap!
The instant the clap sounded, Hulk’s struggles stopped cold.
Harley’s "space lock" principle was simple. First, she created a spatial barrier exactly the size of the Hulk, a simple task for her powers. Then, she "fitted" this barrier over his body and continuously reinforced it. The barrier was a perfect, skin-tight fit, without even a millimeter of room. Trapped inside, the Hulk was completely immobile.
With Harley helping to restrain him, the pressure on John vanished. The ice rapidly spread, encasing the Hulk’s entire body.
"Not enough! I’ll freeze the blood in your veins!"
His freezing power intensified. A massive amount of cold energy seeped through the Hulk’s skin, slowly freezing his green blood.
At last, the three of them working together had managed to control the beast.
Their teamwork wasn’t perfect, but considering this was their first time trying it without practice, it was a passing grade.
"Very good! My turn."
Jason descended from the sky, his full-power energy sword in hand, and slowly walked over.
