Chapter 790: Chapter 790

"Then you’ll hang with the rest of the disobedient ones."

Zaratul’s expression twisted as a translucent thread burst from his body, shooting straight toward George’s chest.

This projection carried a fragment of upper-tier essence. Even under the Goddess of Darkness’s suppression, it still believed subduing someone at George’s apparent level would be effortless.

The thread touched George.

And vanished.

Not burned.

Not cut.

Erased.

As if it had never existed. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Zaratul froze.

Before he could react, George’s hand descended toward his head.

"Spatial Blink!"

Zaratul tried to escape.

Nothing happened.

Space around him had already solidified into an invisible cage.

He looked up.

The figure he had perceived as ordinary now felt impossibly vast.

George loomed like a towering giant.

The descending hand filled the sky.

Antigonus’s puppet-master instincts screamed.

"You’re... a true god!"

"Correct," George said mildly. "No prize for guessing."

The projection was sealed instantly.

George extracted the fragment of soul contained within and began tearing through its memories.

Minutes later, he stood before the rear wall of the church.

From the memories, he now knew what lay beyond it.

Behind this wall rested the real secret of Hornacis.

The one who had vanished.

Antigonus.

Antigonus was born a mythic creature, the child of the ancient Wolf of Destruction. He witnessed his father’s fall at the end of a primordial age and, through that calamity, inherited fragments tied to deception and miracles.

He fled with his sister, wandering until they reached the northern continent.

There, within the Hornacis Mountains, Antigonus founded a hidden realm known as the Night Kingdom.

In later ages, he took human form and served the Solomon Empire.

With help from higher beings, he forcibly stabilized a fragment of supreme authority, becoming something incomplete. Not mortal. Not divine. A half-ascended aberration.

He was hunted by the Goddess of Darkness.

Worse still, a foreign will began awakening inside him.

Antigonus lost control.

He reverted to a monstrous state and was sealed beneath Hornacis’s highest peak.

As for Zaratul...

The one who had once dealt with Rosselle was the original’s son.

He sought his father’s legacy.

Using stolen notes, he located Hornacis, left his true body behind, and sent a historical projection instead.

He found Antigonus.

He found the inheritance.

And at the moment of his advancement, the Goddess of Darkness intervened.

The projection was sealed inside the church.

Because its soul was incomplete, the newly ascended Zaratul immediately went mad.

For years, members of the Secret Order had flooded Hornacis trying to rescue their leader.

They either became puppets.

Or vanished into darkness.

George exhaled slowly.

"So this whole mountain is a meat grinder."

A deliberate one.

Certain paths were too dangerous.

Too closely tied to catastrophic resurrections.

This place existed to thin their numbers.

He raised his hand and shattered the hidden seal on the rear wall.

A doorway of shifting symbols formed.

George stepped through.

The moment he entered, the world tried to devour him.

Thick, slick spectral tendrils lashed out from every direction.

Compared to Zaratul’s projection, this was on an entirely different scale.

"Tri-Flame."

Three-colored fire roared from George’s mouth.

The tendrils vaporized instantly.

The flames cleared.

A colossal palace stood before him.

Above it, thousands upon thousands of suspended marionettes swayed gently.

George stared.

"...You really committed to the aesthetic."

At the palace’s center sat an enormous stone throne inlaid with dulled gold and cracked gemstones.

Coiled above it was a mass of translucent, writhing worms.

Antigonus’s true form.

At the base of the throne lay a single card.

A blasphemy card bearing the title:

The Fool.

George’s eyes narrowed.

He didn’t need it.

The creator of such cards was already under his control.

But Antigonus himself...

That was non-negotiable.

George stepped forward.

He needed what was inside that monster.

And he intended to take it.
