Master, Your Wife Has Become a Super Star Through Fortune-Telling-Chapter 59 - 60: My Dad Climbed Out of His Grave
The man who appeared before her looked exactly the same as in the video. Su Nian found it a bit strange.
The man had pleasant features. Though he looked a little worn out, he didn’t seem to be plagued by misfortune or haunted by any ghosts.
"Heavenly Venerable Bailian?"
Li Shuo hesitated for a long moment before managing to call out Su Nian’s online handle.
This girl, dressed head-to-toe in designer brands and so beautiful it was unreal, was the master.
’She looks just like she does in the video, maybe even a little prettier in person.’
’And she’s really as rich as they say. What kind of master wears a diamond necklace this big?!’
"Yes."
Su Nian replied faintly, then started her live stream.
Li Shuo quickly and timidly followed her.
"Heavenly Venerate, have you eaten?"
"No need. Take me to your father’s grave now."
"Oh, oh, okay."
Li Shuo hastily agreed, then led Su Nian to his car.
Su Nian noticed that his car was quite expensive; he must be from the upper-middle class.
[That car is super expensive!]
[What an unfilial son. He drives such an expensive car, but his own father lived in some rundown part of the countryside!]
They had barely driven a few feet before Li Shuo couldn’t hold back any longer. He glanced around and asked cautiously,
"Heavenly Venerate, could you please take a look and see if there are any... ghosts around me?"
He lowered his voice on the last word, as if afraid something might overhear him.
Su Nian shook her head and looked him up and down again.
"Young man, you shouldn’t be so superstitious."
"Ah... Heavenly Venerate, that’s not it. Even if you don’t see one of *those*, are there any spirit monsters or things like that?"
Li Shuo was in disbelief. Every master he’d seen had told him a great disaster was coming. They all sounded so convincing; they couldn’t all be wrong, could they?
Su Nian stopped walking. "I really don’t see anything. You’re completely normal."
"That can’t be right! Chen Daoist clearly said it! He said... he said my dad died with resentment in his heart, that he hates me and is going to climb out of his grave to find me!"
Li Shuo was still skeptical. Unwilling to give up, he carefully recounted the story again.
Su Nian couldn’t be bothered to argue. She ignored his doubts and simply asked,
"What’s been happening recently? Tell me in detail."
Li Shuo looked like he wanted to cry but couldn’t. "My dad was buried several days ago, and I was getting ready to go back to the city. Then one day, I overheard people gossiping that someone had seen my old man climb out of his grave."
[Just thinking about it gives me the chills...]
[Maybe it’s like in the movies. Does your dad have some unfinished business?]
After a pause, Li Shuo continued, "I didn’t believe it at first, either. But then I saw it myself!"
"You saw it too?"
Now Su Nian was genuinely intrigued.
"Are you sure what you saw was really your dad?"
Li Shuo nodded immediately. "Positive and certain!"
"I didn’t believe it at first. You know how it is in the village—those old ladies love to gossip, so who knows if they were just making things up. But the more they talked, the more real it sounded."
"I didn’t believe it, so I secretly staked out the grave myself. I never imagined my dad would actually climb out of it!"
Li Shuo’s face turned pale as he said this.
[So what’s it climbing out of the grave for?!]
[I’ve heard that some ghosts just like to find their loved ones. Maybe he just misses you too much.]
[Night watch, a lonely grave, and a dad climbing out of it. I gotta say, you’re brave, dude. If it were me, I’d probably have peed my pants.]
[So why is he climbing out? Surely it’s not to get revenge on his unfilial son.]
"And the weirdest part is, I noticed that when my dad—it—climbed out, it was holding a nail in its hand and was just tapping away at its own tombstone."
Li Shuo seemed to be reliving the terrifying scene and couldn’t help but shiver.
"Heavenly Venerate, what kind of omen is this? I’ve seen several masters, and they all said it’s a sign of great misfortune. One even said I wouldn’t live past this year."
Su Nian was now genuinely puzzled.
"Let me take a look first before I say anything."
Su Nian had heard of ghosts carving on tombstones, but for a ghost to climb out of its own grave to carve its own headstone...
’Isn’t that just a little too bizarre?’
"Heavenly Venerate, you really, really have to save me! I swear, I was never bad to my dad. I always did what he wanted!"
"Or maybe someone harmed my dad, and he’s carving the tombstone to warn me!"
Li Shuo’s guesses were getting more and more outlandish.
Su Nian glanced at the changing sky, feeling a little listless.
"Don’t panic. Let me see for myself first."
Soon, the car pulled up to the entrance of a cemetery.
[Hey, hey, hey, I know this cemetery!]
[I know it too. That place is really expensive.]
[So is Li Shuo a filial son or not? You’d say no, but he bought such a nice burial plot. But if you say yes, his dad is climbing out of his grave.]
[Maybe he just does things for show!]
The cemetery was in an excellent location. It was situated on high ground, surrounded by mountains and water. The area in front of the graves was open and flat, and it even received plenty of sunlight.
A burial plot like this would be quite pricey.
From the looks of it, Li Shuo had done his duty. So why was something like this still happening?
Su Nian was puzzled. She turned her head and saw Li Shuo waving, as if greeting someone.
But all Su Nian saw was the hastily departing figure of the old man who worked as the gatekeeper.
The old gatekeeper clearly knew Li Shuo, but upon seeing him arrive, he only gave a distant nod before quickly leaving.
[I gotta say, Li Shuo must have really gotten into some trouble.]
[Even the worldly-wise gatekeeper is steering clear of him. That’s enough to prove Li Shuo has really stumbled into something bad.]
Li Shuo’s tone was dejected. "Ever since all this started, fewer and fewer people want to be around me. They all think being near me will bring them bad luck."
Su Nian didn’t say anything. Instead, she frowned and walked quickly toward a grave.
Her five senses were extremely sharp, and she could faintly detect a trace of a Dark Aura here.
Behind her, Li Shuo was on the verge of tears. ’Finally, someone competent! She found the spot on her own without me even having to lead the way.’
But seeing the somewhat grave expression on Su Nian’s face, he grew anxious again and whispered,
"Heavenly Venerate... is there really one of *those things* here...?"
Su Nian studied the tombstone before her. In the black-and-white portrait, an old man was smiling heartily, his eyes filled with joy. How could something like this be happening now?
"Hard to say. Your dad probably did climb out."
Hearing Su Nian’s speculation, Li Shuo trembled all over.
"Then... then what do we do, Heavenly Venerate?"
"Go back and prepare a few things. We’ll come back tonight and get some answers!"
"Ask... ask who?"
Su Nian shot him a look. "Duh! We’re going to ask your dad, of course!"
