Master, Your Wife Has Become a Super Star Through Fortune-Telling-Chapter 82 - 83: My Grandson is Possessed by a Dog
Su Nian: "Tell me everything that happened, from beginning to end."
Aunt Li gulped. "Well, it all started two days ago. We have a dog named Chicken Drumstick. We’ve had him since he was a puppy. He was very smart and had a deep bond with our family. You could even say Chicken Drumstick watched my grandson grow up."
"But two days ago, because Chicken Drumstick had gotten very old, he passed away. Our whole family was heartbroken."
"But I never expected my little grandson to be possessed by Chicken Drumstick. That night, while I was still grieving, I suddenly heard my grandson making a sound!"
"The sound was so strange. He’s a person, but he was making a dog’s noise. What’s more, our Chicken Drumstick had this habit of panting while he barked. I was shocked to find that the sound my grandson was making was exactly the same as Chicken Drumstick’s."
"At first, I thought it was just Chicken Drumstick coming to see us one last time. But then my grandson kept making that sound for over ten minutes, and the next morning, he’d occasionally do it a few more times."
"I was heartbroken when Chicken Drumstick passed away, but it’s wrong of him to possess a child like this. So yesterday, I called a master."
"That master seemed to figure something out and took my grandson outside to perform an exorcism. But I always felt he was being deliberately mysterious and wouldn’t give me a straight answer. I figured his skills weren’t up to par, so I decided to come to you for help."
"I’ve watched many of your live streams, so I know you have real abilities. You have to save my grandson!"
[This is starting to sound a little creepy!]
[That’s so scary! What a bad dog!]
[Maybe the kid didn’t know any better and secretly mistreated the dog, so Chicken Drumstick came back for revenge after he died!]
Su Nian frowned. "No. Judging by his features, the boy has a kind heart. He wouldn’t do something like that."
[Then it must be that Chicken Drumstick still wants to be part of the family, so he chose to possess the grandson.]
[Actually, I think that’s very possible, since a dog’s mind doesn’t work the same way a person’s does.]
[Yeah, who knows? The dog might not even realize this would harm his little owner.]
Su Nian said, "Aunt Li, why don’t you show me your grandson? Photos can be distorted; it’s better for me to see him in person to make a proper judgment."
Aunt Li was a brisk woman. Despite her age, she was still nimble on her feet.
She went to the front door, holding up her phone.
[Why’d she go to the door?]
[Didn’t they say exorcism? They probably isolated the kid. After all, there are other seniors in the house, and it wouldn’t be good if the kid scared them.] 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
[That makes a lot of sense.]
Aunt Li, holding up her phone and using its flashlight, walked over to a large tree.
[What’s going on? What’s she doing at the tree?]
[Okay, now I have a reasonable suspicion that something is off with Aunt Li. This all feels so sinister.]
Aunt Li explained, "No, it’s not like that. It’s what the master told us to do today. He said to whip him with willow branches, then make him stay in the sun for half an hour. Then, at night, we have to hang him up for a while to lure Chicken Drumstick away."
[I mean, I get it, but... the kid will be okay, right?]
"Don’t worry, he’s fine. He’ll just be a little weak. He should be asleep by now."
Su Nian got a clear look at the boy’s face and pressed a hand to her forehead. "Aunt Li, get the boy down from there, quickly! He’s fine! He’s not possessed by a dog at all!"
"And that ’master’ is a fake! Get him down now! Don’t let him suffer up there any longer!"
"Ah! What?!"
Aunt Li was beside herself with anxiety. She hurriedly called her son and daughter-in-law over, and they got the boy down.
By this point, the child had already fallen asleep.
His body was covered with marks from being tied up, and there were still some sheets of talisman paper stuck to him.
The family anxiously rushed to tend to him. The child let out a soft snore—just as Aunt Li had said, he wasn’t one to worry about things.
Aunt Li was a wreck. She was comparing Su Nian, a famous master with a proven track record, to the so-called master she had met for the first time today.
Of course, Aunt Li was going to believe Su Nian. While directing her son and daughter-in-law to massage the boy’s body, she frantically asked, "Master, what in the world is going on?"
"Don’t tell me it wasn’t actually Chicken Drumstick who possessed my grandson? But that can’t be right! Only Chicken Drumstick made that sound!"
Su Nian watched the little boy, who was beginning to stir and slowly open his eyes, and found it hard to suppress a laugh.
"Aunt Li, why don’t you ask your grandson yourself?"
[Something about the streamer’s expression feels a little weird.]
[I bet there’s a secret to this whole thing!]
[I’m calling it differently. I’ve been studying her streams since the very first one, and I bet this is just a huge, embarrassing mistake!]
Aunt Li was a little dazed, but after a moment, she collected herself and gently patted her grandson awake.
"Yangyang? Yangyang, wake up."
Groggy with sleep, the little boy heard his grandmother’s voice.
"What is it...?"
"Did something strange happen to you yesterday?"
"Huh?" The little boy was confused.
Aunt Li pressed on, "I mean the dog barking sound you were making. Did you realize you were doing it?"
"Do you have any memory of that period at all?"
Aunt Li still suspected he had been possessed by Chicken Drumstick, so her questions were leading.
The little boy was stunned for a moment. He realized he had probably done something he shouldn’t have.
He hesitated, momentarily unsure of what to say.
This only confirmed Aunt Li’s suspicions. ’He must be hiding something!’ she thought.
"Hurry up and say something, Yangyang! Did you see Chicken Drumstick that night? Or did you see him in your dreams?"
A seven-year-old child is perfectly capable of sensing the emotions of adults.
The boy bit his lip, his face flushing red. ’I can’t possibly tell them the real reason,’ he thought.
[What’s this kid dawdling for?!]
[Just say it already! I’m getting anxious for him!]
"Yangyang, hurry up and say it!"
Aunt Li’s expression grew stern. She started to wonder if Su Nian had misdiagnosed the situation, or perhaps the previous master hadn’t finished the exorcism completely.
She turned her head to look at Su Nian. "Heavenly Venerate, could there really be something wrong with the boy? Why don’t you take another, closer look?"
Her tone was a little strained, as if she were ashamed of herself for doubting Su Nian.
Su Nian said, "You don’t need to ask those questions. Just ask him directly why he was imitating a dog’s bark."
[Imitating a dog’s bark!?]
[What does that mean? For a second there, I didn’t get it!)
[So the barking was real, it’s just that the boy was doing it on purpose?]
Aunt Li blinked a few times, completely bewildered.
But she did as Su Nian suggested and asked her grandson, "Yangyang, why were you imitating a dog’s bark?"
A deep blush quickly spread across the little boy’s face.
He lowered his head, his voice as faint as a mosquito’s buzz.
The boy wasn’t stupid. He had been whipped with willow branches yesterday, forced to sit in the sun, and had listened to that master drone on and on with his mystical gibberish.
Even though he couldn’t understand it all, he vaguely knew his family seemed to think he was cursed.
Now, hearing his grandmother ask him this way, he had no choice but to shyly explain everything.
"I just... I saw that you were so sad after Chicken Drumstick died. And... and he used to like barking a few times in the middle of the night, so I imitated him. I wanted to make you think he was still alive, so you wouldn’t be sad anymore."
