Chapter 270: The Craziest Sane Decisions

[RANIA]

"But—" Rania began in the hope that her friends would eventually understand what she was getting at. She just wanted them to know how this was important to her. Then again, they were on the same boat, weren’t they?

"The sooner we get this over with, the higher our chances of finding Odelia. If we finish the mission earlier, we will have more time to look for her.

"Besides, Han will be staying in Incayon. He will tell us if the warriors see Odelia. And Raqeeb is still with the imprisoned royal family," Kaia said as if to make the situation better. Grief sure did have a way of fucking them all up.

Kaia understood her, he really did, but time was not on their side and they needed to make sure that they didn’t fail in their mission to make sure that justice was served.

They had a lot of people to hand over to karma and if they kept postponing, they would have a hard time picking up. Besides, it was just a matter of time before the royal family tried to reach out to their allies.

If that happened, they would be a little farther from their goal than was expected.

"Jihoon is still in the dungeons, isn’t he?" Rania asked like she had almost forgotten it.

"Yes. Do you want me to fuck him up a little? I wouldn’t mind," Kaia offered and Chang Wook facepalmed.

Jihoon and Daehyun had been good prisoners, even though they had never seen the light of the day for months. They had maintained their position and hadn’t even caused chaos in the dungeons.

Anyone would think that they were planning something, which was expected of every prisoner, only that the pals of the two were more focused on the war needed like they were waiting for the war to end.

Over the months, the two high-profile prisoners had imagined what the war would be like and while they had the intense urge to stage a prison break, the loss of Oshita had made the misfits into a bunch of paranoid people.

Even if the misfits weren’t bottling up so much anger and pain at the moment, Jihoon and Daehyun knew that the misfits were terrible psychos even on a normal day. Trying to mess with them or anger them could result in heads trolling.

The two Calindra elites didn’t want to be used as examples anyway.

"Actually, I want to throw a party. I want to let the whole realm know that I finally found my mate," Rania added as if to shed more light on why she had asked about Jihoon. But her elaboration just made her friends think that she had lost her mind completely this time.

Maybe she really had because surely she wasn’t thinking of claiming the prisoner in her dungeons as her mate, that too after burning down all the men from his pack, no? Surely that wasn’t what she had in mind, right?

Then again, with Rania, it was hard to tell who was who or what was even happening. The woman was full of surprises and right now, it seemed like they just had to brace themselves for even worse surprises.

The only question was, how long would it take before they also snapped and changed with her?

"Jihoon? Do you want to introduce the bastard who started all of this as your mate? I’ll kill him. If he accepts that, I will kill him, even if you have to kill me," Chang Wook said as he paced around. He just couldn’t believe this.

After everything they had done, after everything his sister had gone through, after all the things they had to live with and the long nights they had to endure because of Rania’s broken heart, they were about to be subjected to another phase of that shit?

Oh, but he was not going to let that happen and he was fuming at the very idea of it all.

"Chang Wook—" Dalrae said and the warrior whaler just wasn’t about to listen too. This was crazy, and he couldn’t deal with it anymore.

"No. If she wants to throw a party for her mate, I’d rather listen to the devil I know than the bastards who could manipulate her weakness. If you choose Kaia as the mate you want, then fine. I will even officiate the damned mating ceremony myself.

"Even if it’s a fucking wedding you want, I will give you both the damned fucking blessings myself," Chang Wook said and Kaia smirked while Paloma, Han and Dalrae face-palmed. They could tell that this conversation would be long as fuck and they had to work it through.

"But—" Rania tried again, triggering another outburst.

"I swear to the goddess, Rani. If you go back to the man who hurt you so badly in the name of some fucking damned mate bond, then you will have to watch me steal his life force and feed it to Kaia’s beasts.

"We both know how interesting that could get. So don’t," Chang Wook warned and his sister looked at him like he had gone bonkers.

Of course, Rania didn’t take offense at his tone because she knew that he cared for her, but if Chang Wook had been someone else, the tone he was using with Rani right now could have landed him in the worst of the Incayon dungeons without food for a whole year.

That was how cruel Kim Rania was with the people she had nothing to do with, people that didn’t mean shit to her.

"Let her finish!!" Paloma scolded, when she was done listening to Chang Wook’s tantrums. She knew how crazy both siblings were and if this continued, it would be a long banter that would never end. And they certainly didn’t have that much time.

"Fine I will shut up, but if she chooses that bastard, I already told you what I would do to him," Chang Wook said and Paloma just facepalmed.

"Before I was interrupted, I was saying, I will be throwing a mating party. Kaia and I will be making it official. Not just because of my vengeance—" Rania began and Chang Wook once again began pacing.

"If you keep pacing like that, you won’t see me for a month," Dalrae warned and that was all it took to get the warrior healer in one place. He wasn’t even pacing anymore. It was like someone had pressed the pause button on him and he was following instructions.

"You should have done that long ago," Han said and Dalrae shrugged.

"He was saying what I was thinking too."

"You two are hopeless—"

"They’re in love and denial at the same time. Can we get back to what I was saying?" Rania said with a laugh.

"Kaia and I—" Rania began but Kaia interrupted her.

"I convinced her to get mated with me so we can get this done with. If she becomes my mate, she will be able to unlock any and all powers that she has in her.

"The past three months, we never talked about how she had created the portal or even how she knew that Oshita was hurt, and we know that Alpha and Luna Kim wouldn’t be so forthcoming with the answers about her abilities if we faced them.

"Think of it as killing two birds with one stone,’’ Kaia said and they looked at him curiously.

"The second ’bird’ is her mate bond. Rani’s twenty-fifth birthday is in two days," Han added.
