Chapter 372: Love Never Had A Price

[RANIA]

The Incayon dungeons were a horror for Lee Daehyun. He had been trapped in dungeons, sure but he had never been the only prisoner in an entire dungeon.

It was like he was in some sort of dystopian reality, especially given how huge the dungeon halls were and the fact that he was literally alone there he could escape, but then with no information on the endless tunnels, he would just be going in circles.

He was trapped in all the possible ways. Daehyun wasn’t sure what he was really doing in the dungeons when all his friends were in the Cezaevi.

Granted, the place was hellish, but Daehyun could have chosen to be there with his friends over being in the dungeons alone. He had contemplated making a run for it one too many times and had failed.

However, today when he tried he succeeded, and the strangest thing happened. Instead of finding himself in the damn hallways, Daehyun found himself outside the pack house and right in front of the people who had forced him in the dungeons.

"What the fuck?" Daehyun asked Shane if he realized where he was.

There was so much happening, but what had caught his attention was the fact that he had just dreamed that Lim Dalrae was Jeon Jungwoo’s twin. That meant that she was related to Yanna too and the whole circus was once again back to life.

Daehyun looked to the skies, hoping the moon goddess could see him and take him with her. He couldn’t be here and certainly not like this. However, the longer he prayed, the quieter the skies became.

It was like no one was ever going to answer him regardless of what he did. And that made him feel so many things.

"What if I make a run for it?" Daehyun asked even though he could see the warriors staring at him skeptically, wondering what the fuck he was doing and yet at the same time, ready to beat him into hell if they had to.

They had no reason to be kind to him, given their people hadn’t been kind to Rania. It was all so chaotic and Daehyun considered his options.

The warriors were closing in on him and he knew they would beat him to a pulp as they demanded answers on how he had escaped the dungeons. But even he didn’t know what to do.

So when the misfits went up and began hugging, Daehyun knew that was his chance.

He was way better with the misfits than with the warriors who were out for his blood, given that Calindra had betrayed their Alpha more than once. It was something that had been planned for Jihoon, but Daehyun would do just fine.

"I hate to break up the family hug, but may I know how I got here?" Lee Daehyun said, snapping the misfits out of their happy trance.

He knew that he had to be quick, and the movement the misfits saw him, the warrior retreated making Daehyun release a sigh of relief.

He never imagined that his captors would be his safest place but then again, the world wasn’t exactly all rosy and shit, right? He had to eventually find a way around this.

"Lee Daehyun?" Odelia said with a smirk on her face. She could see the concussion written all over Daehyun’s face and she wanted to call the bluff, but she could hear this erratic heartbeat. A reminder that he was actually scared.

"Why are you out here like this?" Han Seong asked and Daehyun looked at the man as if he was high for answers, but then who was to give him the answers he was seeking desperately?

It wasn’t like there was ever going to be an easier solution when it came to him and his relationship with Calindra.

Maybe he would get what he needed, but what was that?

"I am asking the same question too. One moment I was in the dungeons and the next I found myself out here," Daehyun said earnestly, though he didn’t mention the part where he tried to break free.

Kaia, who was watching, looked at Daehyun before he pulled Rania behind while Han Seong, Oshita, and Chang Wook did the same with their mates. It was almost like Daehyun was the threat.

Granted, everyone in the misfits team was strong and powerful, but they had all agreed to protect and watch others and right now the men were protecting their women, something that Daehyun realized a little too fast, given none of the women had dared to protest.

He wasn’t sure if that was beautiful or a reminder that the wolf was about to fall apart if the misfits were mated together. It was like they were in a pot of chaos and had been stirred to perfection.

Maybe this was the universe’s apology for all that happened to their little team, right?

"Strip," Kaia said, his voice going from the usually warm tone that the misfits had known him for, to a voice that reminded them that at the end of the day, they were all beasts in their own forms.

"You can’t be serious—"

"Should I do it for you?’’ Han Seong asked and Daehyun knew he had no option. So, one by one he dropped his clothes, only being left with his briefs.

Kaia looked like he was about to tell the man to go completely naked, but he changed his mind just when Daehyun was about to.

He knew it was fear that was ruling Daehyun right now and he loved it, because it was the reminder that no matter what happened, they would be alright.

"Put them back on," Kaia said and the misfits started in silence while the warriors who were there stayed alert like they were supposed to do something with them.

"What was that for?" Daehyun asked and Rania facepalmed. Even she didn’t know why her beloved had made the poor man stare at him. However, as usual, there was a good reason for it and Daehyun was flying to know why the fuck it had gotten to that point.

"You’re clean, which means that something has changed in the Cezaevi, something that forced you out of the dungeons," Kaia said while Daehyun just stared at the huge barbarian wondering what the fuck that was even supposed to mean for him.

"Go home. Find whatever is left of the Calindra wolves and remind them not to stir trouble with Incayon. You will be their Alpha for a few years before the rightful Alpha comes back... or nor," Kaia said to Daehyun whose head was spinning.

He wasn’t sure what was happening but he knew it wasn’t good.

Kaia Seto was always cruel and right now he was addressing Daehyun like they were acquaintances or something. That in itself made him question a lot, even though he didn’t have the courage to ask the question. Perhaps they would explain to him, yeah?

"What is going on? You still haven’t given me an explanation," Daehyun asked in a soft voice, because he knew that Kaia would have his throat out if he dared to question the man.

"The balance is being restored. Don’t worry. If we wanted to kill you, we could have done it the hundreds of times we let you free. We don’t have issues with you Daehyun. My brother will create a portal to where your pack members are..."
