Chapter 457: When Did Dad And Him Become Buddies?

(Author’s POV)

"Sis, I am so sorry I am late. I had a lot of pending work, and Prof. Gilmore wouldn’t let me leave before finishing all of that," Wendy said when she entered the room. Myra looked at her; she looked weary, exhausted after attending classes all day. But despite that, she still came to the hospital.

"You look tired, you should have rested, Wendy," Myra uttered.

"How can you say that, sis? Hmmm? When you are confined to a hospital room, how can I stay back and rest?" Wendy feigned hurt. "I can’t do that."

"But~ ..." Myra said, but was cut off by Wendy, "No ifs and buts. I want to be where my sister is. Do you know I couldn’t sleep a wink last night, thinking about you." Though she said this, it was only partially true. Myra’s condition was a huge concern for her, but what unfolded in front of her, Elio’s relationship with Nora and everything else made her mind spiral. She tossed and turned all night as sleep was far, far away from her domain.

She wanted to text Elio and ask multiple times, but couldn’t. It was nighttime plus~ .... She felt awkward messaging him now. Nora has practically been her older sister, so it would make Elio her default brother. The thought of it was weird in her head.

"You tell me~ ... how are you doing now?" Wendy inquired as she took out her lip balm and applied it to Myra’s chapped, dry lips carefully. She then started wiping Myra’s hand with a wet towel when Myra replied, "With a sister like you to care for me, how can I not get better?"

Wendy patted her head gently and smiled, "Good girl." She wasn’t aware of the episode that happened in day. And Myra didn’t say anything as well.

"Where is Fabian? You came with him, right?" Myra questioned.

"Prof. Stephens~ .... he is~ ... ohhhhh~ .... There he is," Wendy then leaned in and whispered, "Think of the devil and devil arrives. But a handsome devil. Hehe."

Myra couldn’t help but laugh at her words.

"What are you two laughing about?" Fabian asked, approaching them.

"A secret," Wendy jumped in. She then changed the topic, "By the way, Prof. Stephens~ ... how is Chairman Larson?"

Myra’s ears perked up as she anticipated Fabian’s answer.

Fabian pursed his lips. For a while, he didn’t say anything. Then he uttered, "He is doing~ .... better." A sigh of relief escaped Myra’s mouth as Wendy further asked, "Can I ask you something personal?"

Fabian could tell what she was eager to know, but he still nodded, "Go ahead."

"Uhh~ ... Chairman Larson and you, what sort of relationship do you two have?" Wendy was straightforward. She wasn’t someone who could twist and turn her words to keep the desired information out. If she was curious about something, she would ask directly.

"He is my~ ..." Fabian paused, thinking of telling them the truth. But an inner voice spoke, ’Not yet~ .... after things have settled down. You can set up a proper meeting.’ He licked his lips and completed, "He is my benefactor. I owe him a lot."

Wendy nodded. William, who was using the bathroom, came out. Once he saw Wendy and Fabian, he chimed, "Wendy~ ... Fabian~ ... you two are here~ ..."

Both Wendy and Myra had a dumbfounded look. Their father, William, has always addressed Fabian with his title. So, his name sounded too out of place, so awkward coming from his mouth.

Fabian walked to William, a broad smile gracing his lips. He said, "Sir, what you asked for earlier, I have looked into it."

"Already?" William was surprised at his efficiency. Even in his tightly packed schedule, not only was Fabian willing to help him, but he also managed to find it so quickly. "Let’s talk about it outside."

Fabian nodded as they both went out.

Myra and Wendy stared at their receding figure, then at each other. "What was that about? Since when did those two behave like chummies?" Wendy commented, flabbergasted.

"I don’t know," Myra answered, equally shocked. Soon, they were interrupted by a knock on the door. They both glanced at the same time to find Amy standing there, supported by Sebastian.

Myra’s expression shifted to something unreadable as Wendy chimed, "Mrs. Garcia, Mr. Garcia~ ... you are here. Huhh~ .... why are you~ ... why are you in a patient’s gown?"

Amy smiled at Wendy, "Nothing, dear. Just a minor issue. How are you?"

"I am doing fine," she got up from the seat and offered it to Amy.

Myra looked at the finely dressed lady. The bags under her eyes and the flashbacks from her fainting spell replayed in her head. Seeing Amy like that, a dull ache settled inside her chest.

Amy tried to take her hand, but she withdrew it before that. Wendy didn’t notice it, but Sebastian sure did. Sensing the tension rise, he asked Wendy, "You are~ ... Ms. Wendy Miracle, right?"

Wendy’s lashes were battered multiple times as she answered hesitantly, "Ye~ah .... Yes, yes~ ... I am, Mr. Garcia." She couldn’t believe that a business tycoon like Sebastian knew her name.

Sebastian said, "My wife told me you are studying arts in Red Stone. I have something I want to get a suggestion on regarding our art gallery, and you seem to be the perfect person for that."

"I~~~~~~," Wendy pointed her fingers towards her, her eyes ready to pop out. "How can I help you~ ...?"

"Amy and I are thinking of expanding our art gallery and adding new things. So, we need an opinion of a fresh artist, a Gen Z like you," he explained.

Wendy hesitated, still not being able to believe it. She glanced at her sister, who nodded at her. After getting the green signal, she and Sebastian stepped out.

At this time, Fabian and William had gone out to the garden to discuss the car matter, so now Amy and Myra were alone.

Amy’s eyes filled up as she started, "Myra, thank you. Thank you so much for giving me this chance. I am truly grateful."
