Mated To The Cruel Prince-Chapter 906: Astaria Needs You
Chapter 906: Astaria Needs You
Maxi never stopped galloping for hours, her hooves pounding relentlessly against the ground until she was certain that the general and his army were far behind and no longer in pursuit. Only then did she come to a halt, allowing Aldric and Isaac to dismount.
In the blink of an eye, Maxi transformed back into her Fae form. Immediately, Isaac took off his tunic, intending to hand it to her for cover, but before he could do so, Maxi pounced on him. The force of her jump knocked both of them to the ground, the breath rushing out of Isaac’s lungs.
Isaac couldn’t utter a word as Maxi began to lick his face excitedly, her tongue tracing across his features like an enthusiastic animal—which she was, technically.
"Seriously, get some clothes on, you animal!" Aldric cursed, averting his eyes as he was given an eyeful of her bare buttock.
But Maxi paid him no mind, continuing to slobber all over her mate like an overexcited puppy. Isaac couldn’t help but laugh, managing to steal a few kisses in return whenever he got the chance, despite her relentless, full-face licking.
"I missed you so much!" Maxi declared, her eyes glistening with emotion, almost as if she was on the verge of tears.
"I missed you too, my feisty horsey," Isaac responded, his voice thick with emotion as he gazed at her with the same intensity.
"Kill me now," Aldric muttered under his breath, rolling his eyes in exasperation at their display of affection.
Never in his life did he think he would witness the old, formidable warrior Maxi turn into a love-struck, cute creature for someone like Isaac, a Fae centuries younger than her.
It felt almost illegal. But then, he wasn’t the mad fate that brought the two together in their own version of some twisted cosmic joke, so he was keeping his thoughts to himself.
Maxi and Isaac clearly didn’t care about Aldric’s presence, for they soon lost themselves in a passionate kiss on the ground.
Maxi was straddling Issac and she cupped his face in her hands, her fingers tangling in his hair as she pulled him closer. Isaac responded eagerly as well, his arms wrapped around her waist, drawing her against him.
Their lips moved together fervently, the passion between them sizzling as if they were trying to make up for every lost moment they had been apart.
Maxi’s body pressed against Isaac’s as the kiss deepened, her need for him thickening in the air, and Isaac matched her hunger, his hands caressing her back as he held her tight. Aldric had a feeling if he wasn’t here, they would be fucking like animals right now.
Unfortunately, the moment was so intimate and precious that Aldric felt like an intruder. He quickly turned away, giving them their privacy, though he wished he could block out the sounds of their kissing —the memory would haunt him forever.
At least, on the bright side, Isaac and Maxi were happy. They had each other. Unlike him.
The scene brought a pang of pain and longing to Aldric’s chest. As much as he wanted to yell at Islinda for making that decision without him, he yearned for her presence, for her to be in his arms. He would forgive her for everything if she could just appear in front of him right now. But that wasn’t going to happen.
Aldric brought his hand to his chest, where he could feel the mate bond. It still burned strong, which meant Islinda was well. But then, who knew what she was going through right now?
However, Aldric knew he was only fooling himself. If Islinda was in pain, he would have felt it strongly through their bond. For some reason, pleasure and pain were the strongest emotions felt through the bond.
But right now, the bond was calm, and that gave him some solace. Moreover, he knew Islinda well; she wouldn’t have taken such a risk unless it was worth it, and he trusted that she was safe. Not to mention, she had Azula by her side.
Still, Aldric was a stubborn Fae, and a low grumble escaped his throat. He was her mate. He was supposed to protect her. What kind of Fae would he be if he couldn’t protect his own mate? How could he call himself fit to be a king? If he couldn’t protect his mate, how then, a kingdom?
No, Aldric had made up his mind, he would rescue her. He didn’t care how dangerous it sounded; he would tear those Tamry bastards apart if that was what it took to get his mate back. No one would stop him. Once Islinda was safely in his arms, then—and only then—would he think about how to punish her for the trouble she’d caused.
Thankfully, Isaac and Maxi had finished their "reunion." By the time Aldric turned back to them, Maxi was wearing Isaac’s tunic, which hung down to her thighs. Thank the gods. His eyes had already seen enough.
"Nice timing," Aldric said, giving Isaac a curt nod, the only acknowledgment for saving his life. free𝑤ebnovel.com
"More like fate was kind to you, considering I’m on the run for my life as well," Isaac replied, his tone light but his words were grave. Maxi’s head snapped towards him, her eyes narrowing.
"What are you talking about?" she demanded, fire already igniting in her gaze, her body tensing as if ready to defend Isaac from whatever threat he faced.
"Valerie found me out. He knows you’re spying on him through me, so he tried to kill me before I could relay any meaningful information," Isaac explained.
A low snarl escaped Maxi’s throat. "That fire-wielding oversized wimp! How dare he!" she cursed, her voice dripping with fury. "I’m going to roast him and serve him for dinner the moment I get my hands on him!"
"You can roast him later," Aldric interjected, trying to calm Maxi’s anger. "Both of you should lie low for now. Once I’m back from rescuing Islinda, we’ll deal with that brother of mine."
Aldric was ready to move when Isaac stepped into his path. "I’m afraid that’s not possible," He said firmly.
Aldric’s posture stiffened immediately, his gaze turning sharp as he sensed the challenge. "What do you mean by that?" he asked, his voice carrying a dangerous edge.
Isaac recognized the warning in Aldric’s eyes and quickly realized that the dark Fae prince thought he was challenging his authority. So he chosed his words carefully. "You can’t leave, Aldric. Not now. Your father, Oberon, needs you."
But Aldric’s reply was immediate. "I wish I could help, but my mate needs me more."
"I know. I understand but Islinda made that decision on her own, and I trust her enough to know she can take care of herself. But Aldric, Astaria needs you the most right now," Isaac pressed.
Aldric paused, and for a brief moment, it seemed as if he was reconsidering his decision. But then he shook his head. "Astaria wasn’t there for me when I needed it. I won’t abandon my mate in her time of need. I’m sorry."
Aldric moved to walk past Isaac, but Isaac’s voice stopped him. "Tell me, Aldric, don’t you want to be king?"
Aldric froze, then turned to face Isaac.
Seeing he had Aldric’s attention, Isaac continued, "If you still want to be king, this is your only opportunity. Because I swear to the gods, even if you do rescue Islinda, there might not be an Astaria left for you to return to. Is that what you want, dark Fae prince?"
