Maximize Interest, My Money Grows Infinitely-Chapter 9 - This must have E
Chapter 9: Chapter 9 This must have E
Beijing's night is as pale as Qing Dao's ice-pure brew.
The Willow Tree Road should be quiet in the early morning, but stalls big and small have swarmed together like a hive of bees, popping up as if by magic.
On plastic thin films spread on the ground that seem old at first glance, an array of bizarre and quirky items are displayed.
There are pagers and cellphones popular in the last century, out-of-place alien ET models, and plenty of antiques and artefacts that look even faker than those at Pan Garden.
Chen Cheng and Xiao Meier are also packing up their stall at this time.
"The luck's been pretty good today! Almost sold everything!"
Xiao Meier counts the payments in her phone while adding the change from her apron's pocket, her face beaming with satisfaction.
"Xiao Cheng! We made just under 300 from the stall today!"
At the same time, a system prompt sounds in Chen Cheng's head:
[Interest Settled for Today]
[You have earned 5,162.25 yuan]
[Current funds: 108,407.25 yuan]
[Current interest rate: 5%]
They say earning money is hard, and at this moment, Chen Cheng feels it profoundly.
The 300 yuan Xiao Meier earns from the hard work of running the stall, after deducting costs, labor, and time, the profit might not even be half.
Yet he, merely by using the 100,000 yuan she gave him, easily gained over five thousand in profit.
Such a huge contrast makes him realize, in an instant, what is effort without reward, and what is gain without toil.
"Eh? Why don't you look happy?" Xiao Meier notices Chen Cheng's unusual expression and thinks he's brooding over work matters.
She puts a hand on Chen Cheng's shoulder and says encouragingly, "Xiao Cheng, don't be too anxious. With your intelligence, both life and work are bound to get better!"
Hearing Xiao Meier's encouragement and thinking of her kindness towards him, Chen Cheng forms a simple yet profound thought.
"Elder Sister Meier, I will definitely open a store even better than Xin Chuanji for you."
Upon hearing this from Chen Cheng, Xiao Meier's face blooms with a radiant smile, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
"Really? Xiao Cheng."
Chen Cheng nods with resolve: "I want to help you open a store, and not only that, but I want it to be the best on the entire Willow Tree Road, even in all of Beijing!"
"You're just sweet-talking, trying to make your sister happy~" Xiao Meier laughs while her eyes start to redden.
She quickly turns around and pushes the cart. "Let's go, time to rest."
The two return to the store again.
Last night, Xiao Meier slept downstairs, Chen Cheng upstairs.
Chen Cheng feels, he already owes so much to Xiao Meier, continuing to sleep like this is no good.
"Elder Sister Meier, you sleep upstairs tonight." He locks the cart and enters the store.
Xiao Meier, busy cleaning, lifts her head and asks, "What for?"
"I was just thinking, it's uncomfortable for you to sleep downstairs, plus it's not safe," Chen Cheng tidies up the chairs.
"Is it safe to sleep upstairs?" Xiao Meier asks with a laugh.
Chen Cheng is momentarily stunned, then replies, "It's just that, this place is actually your home..."
"That's enough, that's enough." Xiao Meier insists on giving Chen Cheng the best treatment, "You just sleep upstairs."
As she talks, she bends down to wash dishes and utensils again. "Right, take a shower first! You didn't shower yesterday!"
Chen Cheng approaches Xiao Meier and suggests, "If you're worried about me sleeping downstairs, that it's not convenient. We could both sleep upstairs."
There's a clank, a bowl drops into the sink from her hand.
Xiao Meier glares at Chen Cheng, "What are you talking about?"
Chen Cheng realizes his wording might have been wrong, "I mean, let's move the bamboo mat upstairs, then you sleep on the bed and I'll sleep on it."
"We can just use a cabinet to separate us," he adds.
"That sounds so troublesome~"
Chen Cheng shakes his head, "It's no trouble, I'll do it."
With that, he rolls up his sleeves and carries the bamboo mat upstairs.
Xiao Meier heard the noise of the cabinet being moved, and she hastened her pace.
"This kid..." Her mind was awhirl with thoughts.
Shortly after, Chen Cheng had rearranged the attic on the second floor.
The window side still had the single bed.
The only difference was that the wardrobe, which used to be against the wall, was now moved to the center of the attic.
And on the other side of the wardrobe was the cooling mat that had been carried up.
After tidying up downstairs, Xiao Meier went up.
Seeing the already adjusted setting, she said with a smile, "Xiao Cheng, you really didn't have to go through so much trouble."
Shaking his head, Chen Cheng replied, "Sister Meier, you've done so much for me, if I still hog your bed, that would really be inconsiderate of me."
He pointed at the bed on the inside, "You go take a shower first, then sleep on the inside."
Xiao Meier glanced at the cooling mat, "How about I just sleep on this!"
"No one can change what I've decided," Chen Cheng mimicked her tone of voice.
Xiao Meier giggled with her hand over her mouth, "You scamp, are you a parrot?"
"Go on, we've both had a long day," Chen Cheng commanded.
Xiao Meier opened the wardrobe and took out her underwear and nightgown, "Got it."
Fifteen minutes later, the sound of running water could be heard from the bathroom downstairs.
Chen Cheng lay on the cooling mat, which was somewhat hard, but he felt particularly reassured.
He took out his cellphone and re-read the news article he hadn't finished earlier.
"If only I could borrow a million or so, then I could really lay back and relax!" Chen Cheng thought to himself.
In a short while, Xiao Meier, who had finished her shower, came upstairs.
Her damp hair hung over her shoulders, trailing down her collarbones.
The water on her body wasn't completely dried, shining under the light.
"Xiao Cheng, I'm done washing," said Xiao Meier as she dried her hair, "Hurry and shower. I've got you a new towel, it's on the hook behind the door. The grey one."
Chen Cheng got up from the cooling mat and walked past her, the faint scent of shower gel wafting into his nose.
"Okay," he replied.
Xiao Meier smiled sweetly, "The hot water is a bit scalding if turned to the left."
Chen Cheng acknowledged with a sound and turned to go downstairs.
Arriving at the bathroom, just as he closed the door, he saw something beyond his comprehension pressing down on his new towel.
"Is... is this E-cup?"
Chen Cheng eyed the bra that was almost as large as a serving bowl, swallowing hard.
Meier was well-endowed, but Cheng hadn't expected her to be quite so well-endowed.
A surge of inexplicable curiosity led him to extend his hand, just lifting the thin strap from the hook, when there was a knock at the door.
"Knock, knock, knock!"
"Xiao Cheng! You..."
Upstairs, Xiao Meier also remembered she hadn't taken her underwear with her, so she quickly dashed downstairs.
However, when she saw Chen Cheng's actions and that familiar silhouette through the frosted glass, her pretty face turned red.
"You haven't showered yet, right?" Xiao Meier changed the subject.
Chen Cheng shuddered and hurriedly put the item back in place.
"No."
"Then open the door, I need the hairdryer."
Chen Cheng opened the door, squeezing out sideways.

Xiao Meier stepped forward, searched the hairdryer-less bathroom for a while, then simply gathered the underwear from behind the door into her hand, concealing it behind her back.
"I was mistaken," she said, head lowered as she walked past Chen Cheng, "Go ahead and shower so you can sleep early."
"Okay," Chen Cheng verbally agreed, but in his mind, he thought, "A cold shower probably won't be able to extinguish this fire!"
