Feng Wanli was overjoyed when Qin Qing agreed. He had actually arrived in Jin Ye City yesterday for the Marrow Cleansing Pill. Unfortunately, he ran into three country bumpkins at the auction who drove the price to a prohibitive level. His plan was simple. First, he would tell Qin Qing he had a great relationship with Ye Xiu to get the Zhulu Group on board. Then, he would tell Ye Xiu he was very close with Qin Qing to trick Ye Xiu into joining. Finally, the three parties—he, Ye Xiu, and the Zhulu Group—would form a pharmaceutical company and make a fortune together. He had used this same trick several times before, and it never failed.

"Director Qin, you’re a straightforward person. Come, let’s toast to our future success!" Feng Wanli raised his glass, full of enthusiasm.

Qin Qing and Leng Yue cooperatively clinked glasses with him and downed their drinks in one go.

"I’m sure you’re aware of Ye Xiu’s prestige in the medical field and his influence across the country, Director Qin. With my connections to him, a single word from me is all it takes for you to have anything you want in Jin Ye City..." It was unclear whether it was the alcohol going to his head or just sheer excitement, but Feng Wanli started bragging up a storm. Still, they didn’t call him out, occasionally even playing along to humor him.

Finally, the RV arrived at Qiancheng Farm. Just as the three of them stepped out, a familiar voice called out.

"Qin Qing!"

Qin Qing and Leng Yue turned to see Ye Xiu and An Dongye approaching. "What are you doing here?" Qin Qing asked.

"We heard Qiancheng Farm was interesting, so An Dongye and I came to check it out," Ye Xiu said.

An Dongye? Qin Qing instantly knew who the tall, beautiful woman beside Ye Xiu was.

"Since you’re friends of Director Qin, please join us!" Feng Wanli said generously, though his eyes were fixed on An Dongye. He had never seen a woman so tall and with such a stunning figure before.

"Sure!" Ye Xiu agreed.

An Dongye had no objections either. Someone else was treating, which saves me money.

"Then let’s go. We’ll head to the hunting grounds first, and then we’ll eat," Feng Wanli said. He deliberately slowed his pace to walk beside Ye Xiu and An Dongye. "Are you two a couple?"

"No," Ye Xiu shook his head.

"We’re both students at Saint He Medical College," An Dongye added.

Relieved to hear they weren’t a couple, Feng Wanli said, "So you’re both studying medicine? What a coincidence! Ye Xiu and I are good brothers. I can introduce you to him when I get the chance." This comment was purely for An Dongye’s benefit. He saw she was around twenty, with an innocent beauty and clear eyes—the perfect type to be easily fooled.

Hearing him claim to be Ye Xiu’s brother right to his face, Qin Qing and Leng Yue nearly burst out laughing. Feng Wanli is about to get so embarrassed!

"Which Ye Xiu are you talking about?" Ye Xiu asked.

"Ye Xiu, the Xuanse Medicine King," Feng Wanli declared proudly.

Ye Xiu was dumbfounded. He scrutinized Feng Wanli from head to toe. When did I acquire such a brother?

An Dongye, however, believed him. "Since you and Ye Xiu are brothers, you should invite him to lunch. I’d love to take this opportunity to meet him."

"I actually called him earlier, but he’s not free for lunch," Feng Wanli lied smoothly. "How about we stay here and have some fun this afternoon? I’ll check if he’s free in the evening. If he is, I’ll call him over then."

"That works," An Dongye nodded.

Seeing An Dongye’s interest, Feng Wanli was secretly delighted. He figured that by using Ye Xiu as bait, he might actually be able to win her over. He turned to her and said, "Miss An, getting into Saint He Medical College at such a young age is incredible. You have a very promising future..."

Compliments. The most direct way to get closer to a beautiful woman. Feng Wanli was a master of this strategy.

Seizing the chance while Feng Wanli was chatting up An Dongye, Ye Xiu quickened his pace to walk beside Qin Qing. "What’s going on?" he asked in a low voice. "Since when do I have a brother like him?"

"Well, it’s like this..." Qin Qing quickly recounted the boasts Feng Wanli had been making on the drive over.

Ye Xiu was astounded. Feng Wanli is a truly world-class braggart.

"I think you should just let it slide for now," Qin Qing advised quietly. "After all, the Feng Family is a major client of the Zhulu Group. It wouldn’t be good to embarrass him."

"Alright," Ye Xiu agreed, pulling a mask from his pocket and putting it on to avoid being recognized by the staff at Qiancheng Farm.

Qiancheng Farm was a massive, high-end agritainment resort. Its mountain location and special hunting activities made it extremely popular with the wealthy, attracting many visitors from even outside Jin Ye City.

The group of five arrived at the hunting grounds, an area with penned-in game animals.

"Are you five here to hunt?" a staff member asked. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"Yes," Ye Xiu nodded.

"Please follow me." The staff member led them to the Armory, which was stocked with all sorts of weapons: sabers, spears, swords, halberds, bows, and crossbows.

"Feng Wanli?"

A group of a dozen or so men were already in the Armory selecting weapons. One of them, a young man, sneered as Feng Wanli’s group entered. "Well, look what the cat dragged in. I never thought I’d run into you here."

"Gu Xuesheng?" Feng Wanli was clearly surprised as well. "What a buzzkill," he said coldly. "I came here to have a good time, but running into a piece of trash like you has completely ruined my mood."

"The feeling’s mutual. But now that I think about it, beating you up right here would probably make my day," Gu Xuesheng retorted with a malicious grin, brandishing a saber. At his words, the dozen or so men with him raised their chosen weapons and surrounded Ye Xiu’s group.

Seeing this, Feng Wanli shouted angrily, "Gu Xuesheng, what do you think you’re doing?"

"What am I doing? Hahahaha..." Gu Xuesheng roared with laughter. "Isn’t it obvious?" he said playfully. "I’m going to thrash you."

"Thrash me? Hmph, you wouldn’t dare," Feng Wanli sneered. "Let me tell you something, this is Jin Ye City. This is my brother’s territory. Go on, lay a finger on me if you dare."

Gu Xuesheng paused. "Your brother? Which brother?"

"Ye Xiu, the Xuanse Medicine King," Feng Wanli boasted. "Jin Ye City is his turf. If you’re not afraid to die, go ahead and try me."

Hearing this, Ye Xiu, Qin Qing, and Leng Yue felt their heads spin. This Feng Wanli will really say anything!

"Ye Xiu? Pfft..." Gu Xuesheng burst out laughing, tears welling in his eyes. He scoffed, "Feng Wanli, did a donkey kick you in the head? Ye Xiu is a nobody! He’s just a doctor. If he dares to show his face, I’ll beat the crap out of him too."

At these words, Ye Xiu, Qin Qing, and Leng Yue all frowned. Qin Qing spoke up, "Mr. Gu, Ye Xiu has done nothing to offend you. Is it really appropriate to insult him like that?"
