Chapter 2070: Chapter 2047: Straightforward Enough

Gao Yang invited the four of them inside the house, and Phoenix said calmly, "Do you need to see what gun I’m using?"

Gao Yang glanced at the living room that was like a pigsty. He wasn’t a neat freak, but he definitely didn’t like dirty environments, nor did he like dirty people, so his first impression of Phoenix wasn’t good.

Hearing Phoenix’s question, Gao Yang spread his hands and said with a smile, "Whatever you’re good at."

Phoenix nodded and made a gesture to show them in.

Gao Yang and the others followed Phoenix into a bedroom, which was essentially a gun room because inside there was a bed, a gun cabinet, and a long workbench, and nothing else.

Unlike the living room, the bedroom with the guns, or rather the gun room with a bed was spotless.

The gun cabinet was filled with guns, AK series, AR series, adding up to nine guns neatly arranged, but the main focus was sniper rifles. Unlike the vertically placed assault rifles, the sniper rifles were horizontally placed: at the bottom was a McMillan TAC-50, and above it in another cabinet was a McMillan TAC-338.

Above that was a civilian version of the Remington M700, and higher up was another M700, just in hunting camouflage.

With one glance, Gao Yang’s impression of Phoenix greatly changed because he liked the spotless gun room, with guns and ammunition neatly arranged in the gun cabinet.

Looking at Phoenix’s gun cabinet, Gao Yang nodded and said, "Take the one you’re best with, and let’s go for a test shot."

"Understood."

Phoenix immediately reached for her guns, first taking the M700 and then the TAC-338. After slinging both guns over her shoulders, she also took out the TAC-50.

Gao Yang meant for Phoenix to take only what she’s best with, but Phoenix took them all; these guns were not light, and it wasn’t easy for her to handle them alone. So Gao Yang, with gentlemanly grace, extended his hand and said with a smile, "Let me help you."

"No need!"

After speaking stiffly, Phoenix realized she shouldn’t have rejected Gao Yang’s help so harshly, so she said softly, "I never let anyone touch my guns."

She intended to explain, but found explanations were even worse, so Phoenix pursed her lips, thought for a moment, and then said softly, "You can help me with the bullets."

Gao Yang took a few boxes of ammunition, and Phoenix called out, "Follow me."

Walking out of the gun room, Phoenix tilted her head and shouted, "Binoculars."

Little Donnie picked up the binoculars, and Phoenix led the four of them through the back door rather than the front, then immediately said, "Once we’re out of the backyard, we can shoot."

Just as Gao Yang guessed, Phoenix’s backyard was indeed a shooting range.

Placing the guns one by one on an outdoor table, Phoenix pointed to the shooting range and said quietly, "Due to site restrictions, four hundred yards, five hundred yards, six hundred yards."

After speaking, Phoenix didn’t say anything else, instead staring at Gao Yang, meaning to let him decide how far to shoot.

Gao Yang’s current concern was that meeting such a sniper who wouldn’t even say a single extra word might delay the battle...

Gao Yang waved his hand, meaning to be casual, and Phoenix crouched down and began shooting.

Shooting accurately is just one of the most basic conditions for a sniper. A sniper who can’t shoot accurately surely can’t be a sniper, but just being able to shoot accurately doesn’t make a good sniper.

Phoenix’s shooting was certainly good. Murphy had praised her a lot; it would be disappointing if she couldn’t shoot accurately. After watching for a while and waiting for Phoenix to test all three guns, Gao Yang immediately said, "Alright, now you can be my spotter."

Phoenix turned around, saw Gao Yang empty-handed, frowned, and said, "You don’t have a gun."

"I can use your guns."

Phoenix just said she wouldn’t let anyone touch her guns, so Gao Yang’s request was definitely hard for her to accept.

After hesitating for a moment, Phoenix still nodded and said softly, "Okay."

Gao Yang picked up a M700, lay down, and aimed at the six-hundred-yard target; Phoenix exhaled, picked up the tac-338, and lay beside Gao Yang.

"Target distance six hundred yards, scope zero distance three hundred yards, light wind, wind direction twenty degrees from the left rear, shoot."

Gao Yang fired a shot, but the bullet missed the target.

"The shot was to the right, adjust two mils to the left."

Gao Yang fired again, and Phoenix said quietly, "The shot was above and to the right, adjust one mil left and one down."

Gao Yang fired again and finally hit the target, Phoenix immediately said, "Hit."

When serving as spotter, Phoenix behaved relatively normally, at least she didn’t spare words anymore. Gao Yang released the gun and stood up, smiled, and said, "Great, do you have anything else you want to show?"

"No."

This time after speaking, Phoenix finally added a few more words.

"Just shooting targets doesn’t prove much; my specialty can’t be shown at a shooting range."

Gao Yang snapped his fingers, smiled, and said, "Alright, let’s talk about the salary you expect to receive now."

"Whatever."

"Is a hundred thousand a year okay?"

"Sure."

Seems like Phoenix really didn’t care, Gao Yang smiled and said loudly, "Then, what about going to the Middle East for operations without any security guarantees."

"Totally fine."

Phoenix not only answered briskly but also finally added another word in her response.

Gao Yang smiled; he liked exceptional cannon fodder like Phoenix, she’s really easy to negotiate with, making him feel reluctant to exploit her, but on second thought, not exploiting her would be a waste.

Glolov suddenly interjected, "Sometimes, women find many things inconvenient."

"Treat me as a man."

Gao Yang laughed, "We’ll discuss the salary later. I’ll find a real combat opportunity for you to try out. If you qualify, everything is negotiable, and the terms will satisfy you. If not, then pack your bags and go home."

"Very fair." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

"When can you leave?"

"Now, immediately, right away."

Gao Yang rubbed his chin helplessly and said, "You’ve seen our car; it only seats four people, and five people won’t fit comfortably."

"I’ll drive my own car and follow; I can abandon my vehicle."

Gao Yang took a breath, smiled, and asked, "One last question, why are you willing to leave with us without knowing our background, pay, or where we’re going or what we’re doing?"

Phoenix calmly replied, "To go to the battlefield."

Gao Yang was completely convinced now. He gave Phoenix a thumbs up and then turned to Little Donnie, saying, "Make a fake identity for her and get her to Somalia."

Little Donnie nodded, Phoenix showed no response, and Gao Yang waved his hand, saying, "Bring the guns you need, don’t drive yourself, pack your things, and ride with us now."
