Chapter 2081: Chapter 2058: The Wind Has Risen

Fresh ingredients are, of course, best consumed as soon as possible. So, discovering the list of ingredients meant that Djo should arrive that day, and before dinner time.

This made the schedule extremely tight. It was almost impossible for Number Thirteen to infiltrate a high-end ingredient store that day. Thus, Gao Yang and his team could only aim for the second or third day for a successful implementation of their plan.

Since there was no opportunity for poisoning in the short term, the Black Demon team now had time to arrive, and naturally, Gao Yang received strong reinforcements, significantly boosting Satan’s strength.

Currently, Number Thirteen’s poisoning plan was the main focus, with Satan’s forceful assault as backup. If Number Thirteen succeeded, then they would quietly withdraw. If his plan failed or there wasn’t enough time to execute the poisoning, Gao Yang could make a final desperate move, launching a simultaneous sea and land assault.

The plan was good, but Djo was not cooperating.

By ten o’clock at night, no vehicle had come in.

They knew they couldn’t rush it, but believing they had evidence that Djo would certainly come, yet he didn’t show, even Gao Yang, with all his composure, couldn’t help but wonder.

After enforcing a blackout, the room was dark, and no one could see each other. But Gao Yang couldn’t help turning towards where Taylor was and said, "Could it be that Djo has already gone in, and we didn’t notice?"

Taylor replied in a deep voice, "Judging by the signs, that’s unlikely."

Frey couldn’t help but add, "Could we have been exposed, making them alert?"

Gao Yang shook his head, "Impossible. If we were exposed, Djo’s men would have attacked long ago."

Glolov said with a hint of resignation, "You’re trying to lay an ambush, but the enemy isn’t stepping into the trap. Isn’t that a common occurrence?"

Gao Yang sighed, "Right, perhaps Djo changed his plan at the last minute, or he got delayed by something. Maybe he’ll show up soon. Anything’s possible, let’s wait."

After speaking, Gao Yang stood up, waved his hand, and said, "In any case, the likelihood of Djo coming today is slim. Rest, take turns on surveillance, maintain energy. Those not on duty, go to sleep. Taylor, take a break."

Taylor had been stationed behind the binoculars the entire time. He could remain calm; as someone from the Air Force Control Group, he’d done plenty of surveillance and target guidance missions, so losing his composure wasn’t an option.

"I can’t fight, so let me do what I can. I’m fine. When I’m tired, I’ll have someone take over."

"Then take care not to overexert yourself. Your injury hasn’t fully healed, so don’t affect your recovery. Okay, let’s go."

Gao Yang yawned, returned to his room, and fell asleep on the bed.

In the middle of the night, he was woken by a phone call. The caller was Tommy.

"We’ve tested the cannon. It’s not very stable, but it’s usable."

Gao Yang wasn’t annoyed by being woken up. Learning that the Merciless Cannon was finally usable relieved a significant burden from his mind.

"Very good, how’s the cannon?"

"We tested it at sea. The maximum range can reach 320 meters, and the blasting power is quite astonishing, though it’s not accurate. But you can’t expect too much from this thing. So far, we have twenty-six usable cannons."

Gao Yang rubbed his head, curious, "Why make so many? Can a few of you manage all that?"

"One-time use, pre-fixed angles and locations, firing all twenty-six shells in a short time. Since accuracy isn’t our goal, we’ll aim for fire density like a rocket launcher. Eventually, we’ll hit a target. We used fireworks launching technology, presetting everything so pressing a button can precisely control firing time and intervals. In a minute, Djo’s place will be engulfed in flames."

"Engulfed in flames?"

"Yes, we added incendiary materials to the shells, increasing both explosion and fire capabilities."

The Merciless Cannon was quite effective against unprotected personnel, as the shockwave alone was lethal. But for sieging? Not very effective. Against large and sturdy structures, it was mostly useless, but adding a burning effect might help some.

Considering those conditions, there wasn’t much more they could ask for. Gao Yang chuckled, "Good, get ready."

"Yes, and one more thing. By tomorrow noon, we should have another fifteen ready. As long as we have time, we can produce more cannons. The current firing method doesn’t require reloading or aiming. Just position the boat correctly, push the button, and that’s it. As long as we have time, we can have more firepower ready. Uriyangko thinks we should keep producing and use as many as we can."

This was good news, more good news for Gao Yang, who laughed, "Good, let’s do that. Tell Uriyangko that the only requirement is to get the boat safely near Djo’s villa without attracting much attention. Bringing too many boats will lead to failure. He needs to balance that."

"Understood. We’ll decide based on the situation. It’s always better to prepare more, Boss. Anything else?"

"That’s it. Why wasn’t Uriyangko the one to call me?"

"He’s seasick, vomiting badly."

"Uh, seasick again. Stay in touch, goodbye."

Gao Yang hung up, saw he had slept for over four hours, and since he wasn’t tired anymore, he took over surveillance from Taylor.

The next morning, when Taylor swapped back with Gao Yang, it was still quiet and calm.

By noon, Djo’s villa remained silent. At this point, everyone thought Djo might not show up, but no one said it out loud.

In the afternoon, Yake called, informing Gao Yang that Number Thirteen had already infiltrated a certain ingredient store. With exceptional knife skills, he took on preliminary food-cutting tasks, like cutting beef into pieces, slicing fish into proper fillets, and trimming roots from freshly delivered organic vegetables. Although the store wasn’t just for the wealthy, some affluent families without private chefs also visited. For such customers, pre-cut ingredients were more appealing.

It didn’t matter what Number Thirteen was doing. The key was that he’d managed to get in, creating an opportunity for poisoning.

The only issue now was that Djo wasn’t arriving. Despite Number Thirteen and Yake’s arduous efforts, in the end, it might all be for nothing.

That night, Djo still hadn’t arrived.

Another day passed, and Gao Yang was mentally prepared for the possibility that Djo wouldn’t come. After working hard for quite a while, their efforts might end in vain.

However, surprises often come last. Just when everyone thought Djo wouldn’t show, Eileen, who was watching the highway, shouted with excitement, "Motorcade! Motorcade! Guys, Djo is here!"

Gao Yang’s hand trembled as he picked up the phone, dialing a number quickly and saying eagerly, "The wind is rising! Guys! The wind is rising!"
