MMORPG: Birth of the World's Luckiest Player-Chapter 196: The Wind-Dance Heaven-Splitter Fan
Marcus was so intent on playing the role of the fisherman, waiting patiently for the perfect moment to reap the benefits, that he had completely forgotten about the mysterious woman in black and the other terrifying presence still inside the palace: the Dark Arch-Sorcerer, the Double-Headed Raven King.
After triggering the traps in the main hall, the woman had been the first to pass through, arriving swiftly in the inner courtyard where the Spring of Purity once lay.
The moment she laid eyes on the scene, her steps faltered.
’What happened here?’
The spring was gone.
Before her was not the pristine, moonlit pool she knew so well, but a collapsed ruin. Stone slabs lay shattered, the earth torn open, and the heart of the courtyard had been reduced to a deep, dry pit. There was no trace of the treasures Lyanna had supposedly left behind, nor any sign of the Spring of Purity itself, one of the Five Legendary Springs of the Dreamland Continent.
The sight left her stunned.
The Spring of Purity contained an immense concentration of pure Negative Energy, sealed by an ancient Lunar Seal of extraordinary strength. A being without the power of a Super Divine Beast could not even step into its waters, much less destroy it entirely. The woman hovered in the air, staring down at the devastation, a faint crease forming between her brows as doubt clouded her bewitching expression.
’Is the Soul-Mist Water Demon Cat still safe?’
Frowning, she descended toward the rubble. The damage was unmistakably recent. Residual fire and water energy still lingered in the air, faint but turbulent, slowly dispersing. Everything pointed to one conclusion: the spring had been destroyed not long ago, likely around the same moment the palace seal had been broken.
’Then where is the one who did this?’
Her instincts flared.
"Wind-Dance Heaven-Splitter Fan!"
She immediately slowed, her movements turning cautious. With a soft call, a white fan appeared in her slender hand and snapped open in a smooth, practiced motion. It was neither paper nor silk, its material impossible to identify. Pure white like drifting clouds and light as a passing breeze, it was wrapped in a gentle, ever-moving wind. There was no doubt it was a Divine-tier artifact.
"Zephyr, Whisper of the World."
She waved the fan lightly.
A soft wind spread outward from her body, flowing seamlessly into every corner of the courtyard, slipping through cracks, over stones, and into the deepest recesses of the ruins. It was a detection spell, subtle yet terrifyingly thorough. Even a Grandmaster-level stealth expert would struggle to evade its reach.
The breeze swept the courtyard, but there was no one.
"Caw!"
A harsh cry suddenly echoed from the exit of the main hall.
The Double-Headed Raven King burst forth, having reduced the summoned monsters within the passage to nothing but drifting ash with its dark lightning. Its twin eyes locked onto the woman as it surged toward her without hesitation.
"Thunderous Rage!"
The situation had turned critical. If it delayed even for a moment, the treasures Lyanna had left behind might be taken by this woman of the Water Moon Cult. The Raven King did not dare underestimate her. With a violent wave of the Nine-Feather Dark Thunder Fan, it unleashed a massive bolt of dark lightning that tore through the air toward her.
The woman had already reached the ruins of the spring. She could neither flee nor dodge without abandoning her search. Yet as the lightning rushed toward her, her expression remained calm.
Then, her body moved.
In a series of fluid, dance-like motions, she raised the Wind-Dance Heaven-Splitter Fan once more.
One fan was forged from the nine tail feathers of a Dark Thunder Roc, tempered in hellish lightning for a thousand years. The other was a legendary treasure of the Dreamland Cobtinent itself, capable of manipulating wind and spatial forces. A rare clash between two Divine-tier artifacts was about to unfold.
"Cyclone, Domain of the Tempest!"
Her movements were mesmerizing, each step light and precise, like a dance that stirred the air itself. As she spun, a massive vortex of wind erupted from the fan, instantly forming a roaring cyclone that engulfed both her and the three-meter-wide ruins of the spring.
WHOOSH! 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
CRACK!
The cyclone collided violently with the incoming dark lightning. Thunderous explosions echoed across the courtyard as wind and electricity clashed head-on.
When the lightning struck the vortex, the cyclone shuddered violently, its structure rippling under the impact. Yet it held. The spinning winds caught the lightning, drawing it inward, breaking its momentum, and carrying it upward. At the cyclone’s peak, the lightning was flung aside and dissipated into the air.
It was a masterful defensive technique, turning the enemy’s power against itself. Against ranged magical attacks, the cyclone was nearly flawless.
Without wasting a moment, the woman waved her fan again. Another powerful gust lifted shattered stones and debris from the ruined spring, dragging them into the cyclone to reinforce its defenses. At the same time, she focused her senses downward, searching the rubble for any trace of the Soul-Mist Water Demon Cat.
"Caw! Caw!"
The Raven King shrieked in fury as it watched its attack rendered ineffective. The frustration burned fiercely within it. Had it not been injured by the Five-Clawed Divine Dragon, that cyclone would have shattered instantly.
Snarling, it waved its fan with increasing ferocity, unleashing a relentless barrage of dark lightning. The stones caught within the cyclone were gradually pulverized under the assault. Wind, lightning, and shattered rock collided in a chaotic storm, turning the inner courtyard into a spectacle of destruction.
Despite her skill, the disparity in power became clear.
The Raven King was stronger.
Before long, the cyclone began to tremble uncontrollably. Cracks rippled through the vortex as its structure destabilized, threatening to collapse entirely.
"Cyclone, Dance of the Raging Winds!"
"Go!"
With a sharp cry, the woman poured a massive surge of wind energy into the spell. The cyclone accelerated violently, spinning faster and faster as it absorbed the incoming lightning. Then, with explosive force, it shot upward and hurtled straight toward the Raven King.
It was her ultimate move.
Using such power in such a short span clearly took its toll. Her breathing grew heavy, her chest rising and falling sharply. But she could not afford to rest. If she wanted to recover her cult’s Soul-Mist Water Demon Cat, there was no time to spare.
The blue crescent sigil on her forehead flared brilliantly.
Icy-blue light washed over her body as she channeled the full power of her fan. Her fiery yet delicate figure blurred, then vanished entirely. Using a Wind Evasion technique, she shot out of the palace in an instant, leaving behind nothing but the deep, empty pit where the Spring of Purity had once existed.
She had to find the one who destroyed the spring. And she could only hope they were still somewhere outside the palace.
