MMORPG: Birth of the World's Luckiest Player-Chapter 202: The Death Demon Cleave
"Thunderous Rage!"
The Double-Headed Raven King did not understand why Sienna had missed such a perfect opportunity to ambush him, but there was no time left to question it. The instant he saw her unleash a roaring cyclone toward the Three-Headed Black Dragon Knight, the Dark Arch-Sorcerer reacted on instinct, raising his staff and hurling a massive bolt of Dark Sky Thunder straight at the same target, pouring everything he had into the attack.
The Three-Headed Black Dragon Knight was no ordinary opponent. He was one of the top ten experts of the Demon Clan, a pioneer who had helped carve out their original territories and a fanatic forged in endless war. He had clashed with the Sky Legion of the Goddess of Dreams thousands of times, earning his reputation through blood and fire, and a millennium ago his name alone had been enough to shake the Dreamland Continent.
The Raven King knew he stood no chance against the Dragon Knight on his own. With the Six-Headed Twin-Winged Serpent still locked in battle with the Cloud-Tusk Lion, his only viable choice was to form an uneasy, temporary alliance with Sienna, no matter how much he distrusted her.
Although the Raven King’s reaction was a fraction of a second slower, he was closer to the Dragon Knight. His Thunderous Rage fused seamlessly with Sienna’s Spiraling Storm Drill, and in an instant, shrieking wind and crackling lightning twisted together into a colossal vortex of raw power. The electrified storm surged forward with a deafening roar, tearing across the battlefield toward the Dragon Knight.
BOOM!
The combined assault smashed through the Dragon Knight’s obsidian energy wave as if it were brittle glass. Like a raging elemental dragon, the storm surged onward, its momentum unbroken, threatening to swallow the Dragon Knight whole.
’Now that’s quite a show,’ Marcus thought, staring in disbelief as his eyes widened.
Instead of anger, a grin of manic delight spread across the Three-Headed Black Dragon Knight’s face when his Black Dragon Cleave was obliterated. He could feel the strength of his opponents clearly now, and that realization only fueled his excitement. The thrill of facing worthy enemies sent his blood boiling, pushing him closer to frenzy. This was exactly the kind of battle he lived for, the kind that made everything else meaningless.
"Death Demon Cleave!"
Ignoring the incoming storm entirely, the Dragon Knight unleashed one of his signature techniques. A massive wave of gray, necrotic energy surged outward, tangled with thick demonic mist, manifesting as countless flickering blades of darkness. Like a wall of death itself, the attack rushed forward to meet the electrified cyclone head-on, radiating an aura of absolute destruction.
"This is bad.’
The Raven King recognized the technique instantly. The Dragon Knight was infamous for his ruthless fighting style, the kind that went straight for annihilation without hesitation. Understanding the terrifying power of the Death Demon Cleave, the Raven King desperately tried to manipulate the Black Raven Cloak, intent on grabbing Marcus and escaping before the entire courtyard was reduced to rubble.
At the same time, across the battlefield, the Six-Headed Twin-Winged Serpent was growing impatient. It watched the Raven King waste precious moments trying to save a low-level human instead of searching for the Dragon-Horse Lyre, and the situation irritated it deeply. Starting a full-scale clash with the Three-Headed Black Dragon Knight just to protect a human seemed incomprehensibly foolish.
Unless that human was the one who had unsealed the palace.
The thought struck the serpent like lightning. If the human had already taken the Dragon-Horse Lyre, along with Lyanna’s hidden treasures, then the Raven King’s behavior suddenly made perfect sense. The serpent was no fool, and it connected the dots almost instantly.
Its irritation transformed into urgency. Losing interest in prolonging its fight with the Cloud-Tusk Lion, the serpent prepared to unleash a decisive attack and rush to assist the Raven King. Just as it was about to do so, it noticed the white mist surrounding the lion dissipate completely. The flames burning across the beast’s body flickered weakly, and its movements became sluggish as its strength visibly plummeted.
The Cloud-Tusk Lion’s Cloud-Tusk Aura had finally expired.
That skill had been the only reason the lion could double its stats and survive against a Calamity Beast. With the aura gone, it was no longer a match for the serpent in any sense.
Seizing the opportunity without hesitation, the serpent’s two physically oriented heads lashed out like whips. CRACK, CRACK. They coiled tightly around the lion’s massive body, pinning it in place while the remaining four heads unleashed a relentless barrage of elemental magic. With a final, agonizing roar, the Cloud-Tusk Lion was blasted backward more than ten meters, slamming into the ground and carving a deep furrow through the dirt as it skidded to a halt.
When it finally stopped moving, the lion was a bloody, mangled wreck, barely conscious and completely unable to stand.
The serpent could have finished it off with ease, but time was no longer a luxury it could afford. Abandoning the dying lion, it surged toward the Three-Headed Black Dragon Knight at full speed.
If that madman got his hands on the Dragon-Horse Lyre, there would be no getting it back. The Dragon Knight never shared his spoils, not even under direct orders from the Demon Lord himself.
With the serpent’s arrival, the battlefield descended into utter chaos. Marcus stood within the fading wall of black light, watching the once-in-a-lifetime clash with a mixture of awe and professional fascination, fully aware that he was witnessing something most players would never see.
Thankfully, he had kept his recording feature active from the very beginning, capturing every second of the legendary confrontation.
’If I can make it back alive and sell this as a high-definition movie,’ he mused, ’I might actually strike it rich.’
He was still indulging in that pleasant fantasy when the Death Demon Cleave finally collided with the electrified cyclone. The impact triggered a continuous chain of explosions, waves of raw power detonating one after another and engulfing everything within a twenty-meter radius.
The resulting shockwaves rolled outward like tidal waves of energy, battering Sienna and the Raven King from all sides. If the Dragon Knight had not been momentarily distracted by the serpent’s sudden intervention, they would never have survived the follow-up assault.
’This guy is a monster’, Marcus thought, unable to suppress his admiration despite the danger.
Unfortunately, Marcus was the closest to the epicenter, and that put him in the worst possible position. Three rapid impacts slammed into the barrier surrounding him, and his situation deteriorated in an instant.
The first BOOM sent a web of cracks racing across the wall of black light, the same barrier his strongest attacks had failed to even scratch.
The second BOOM shattered the Black Raven Cloak’s field entirely. Marcus was freed from his confinement, but that freedom came at a terrible cost, leaving him completely exposed at the heart of the explosion.
The third BOOM sealed his fate. Hit by the full force of the storm, Marcus felt as fragile as glass. His consciousness vanished instantly, and the world went black. He was killed in a single blow.
Ding!
"Stonehaven, the Ring of Resurrection has been triggered. You have been revived with full Health and Mana. You are now in an Invincibility state for 3 seconds."
Marcus had only dared to witness this battle because of that ring. Those three seconds of invincibility were his sole lifeline, and now that the ring had been consumed, he could not afford to linger for even a heartbeat longer. It was time to leave.
He had not gained any valuable loot, but witnessing a legendary clash like this and seeing a top-tier Dragon Knight fight with his own eyes made the risk worthwhile.
’My level is just too low,’he thought with a quiet sigh. ’I’m playing a completely different game from monsters like them.’
