MMORPG: I was BUGGED-Chapter 266: The Best Tank in the Game
Xin couldn’t help but think that this enemy was too formidable for fewer than a hundred players. Though it was alone, it had an unlimited supply of worms at its disposal.
Even the guild leaders were struggling, meticulously fending off the worms from infiltrating the castle while steadily chipping away at the Wormgod’s enormous HP.
Even so, the guild members pressed on, their movements synchronized with a fluidity that spoke of refined teamwork.
The mages, stationed on the castle battlement, unleashed a barrage of spells, exploiting the weaknesses of the Wormgod.
Healers, strategically positioned, ensured the frontline remained resilient, mending wounds and restoring health.
In the midst of the chaos, the guild’s resilience faced a crucial test. The Wormgod unleashed devastating area-of-effect attacks, challenging the players to maintain their formations.
The worms were unending, pressing against the guild’s defenses with a relentless fervor.
As the battle wore on, weariness began to set in. The guild members, despite their determination, started to show signs of strain.
The casualties were kept in check, thanks to the strategic prowess of the guild leaders, but the toll on resources and stamina was becoming evident.
Xin fought alongside his group, feeling the magnitude of the battle. The intensity hinted at the looming necessity to summon his golems to ensure survival.
As players fell one after another, succumbing to the undead transformation, Xin took on the role of a support, hurling Holy potions to halt the ominous metamorphosis.
Among the chaos, he couldn’t help but worry about Hilda’s well-being, silently wishing she remained safe and vigilant.
Mostly, he hope that she wouldn’t attract any attention to herself.
On the other front, Hilda courageously faced off the worms together with a group of DPS led by the charismatic yet arrogant Steel Striker.
His striking blue hair might have turned heads, but his demeanor made him unapproachable in both the virtual and real worlds.
Hilda, however, remained unfazed by Steel Striker’s presence, her primary concern being Lord Schrodinger.
Despite being instructed to maintain formation, she discreetly kept an eye on him. If she sensed any danger befalling him, she would swiftly come to his aid, regardless of the consequences.
"I’m sure he would understand," Hilda chuckled to herself, deflecting the worms effortlessly as she held her ground.
While others struggled to withstand the relentless worm attacks, Hilda parried them with ease. Her proficiency ensured her group faced minimal difficulties, catching the attention of Steel Striker.
"Hey, Gilbert!" Steel Striker bellowed, demanding Hilda’s acknowledgment.
Ignoring him, Hilda remained focused on her duties, unaware that she had become the target of Steel Striker’s frustration.
"Gilbert!" Steel Striker roared again, his face turning red with anger.
He was Steel Striker, vice-leader of the top guild, Brotherhood Legion, boasting the highest STR in the game.
The audacity of this "Gilbert," a mere tank in Shadowblades guild, to ignore him not once but multiple times was inconceivable to him.
Finally, a fellow player nudged Hilda and whispered, "Hey, Gilbert, Steel Striker is calling for you."
The realization hit Hilda that, in this particular scenario, she was going by the name Gilbert. Shifting her attention to Steel Striker, she found his gaze piercing through her.
What does he want? Hilda thought to herself.
With a heavy sigh, as if communicating with anyone other than Lord Schrodinger drained her energy, Hilda asked, "What do you want?"
Caught off guard by the apparent disrespect, Steel Striker restrained the words ready to burst forth from his mouth. Never before had a player dared to treat him with such insolence.
Who did this Gilbert think he was?
While he mentally noted to address the issue of disrespect later, a more urgent matter demanded attention.
Clearing his throat, Steel Striker assumed a serious tone. "I need you to cover for me. I’m about to unleash my most devastating attack to drain its HP, but I need your complete focus to protect me. Understand?"
Hilda was very uninterested. She glanced to the side and replied with a bored tone, "Yeah, whatever."
Anger flushed Steel Striker’s face, and he was on the brink of delivering a scathing reprimand.
However, he suppressed his frustration as the formidable Worm that Walks began to stir once again.
"No time to waste! Let’s go!" Steel Striker declared. "Make sure to tank for me."
"Yeah, yeah," Hilda responded, her tone nonchalant.
A visible vein throbbed on Steel Striker’s forehead, but he compelled himself to focus on the imminent danger at hand.
Steel Striker took a deliberate step back from the front lines. His eyes glinted with intensity as he raised his sword, a legend grade equipment befitting of his status.
The air around him crackled with energy as he prepared for the execution of his ultimate strike.
He adjusted his stance, ensuring that every muscle was in perfect alignment. The landscape around him seemed to pause in anticipation, mirroring the gravity of the impending attack.
As Steel Striker gathered his strength, Hilda transitioned into a defensive stance. Her shield, adorned with battle scars from countless encounters, gleamed in the light.
The weight of her armor was inconsequential as the Wormgod wouldn’t be able to hurt her. She didn’t need the shield in the first place, it was only for appearance sake.
The atmosphere became charged with tension as Steel Striker entered a state of focused concentration. His eyes narrowed, fixated on the target.
Hilda parried all the worms that came close to Steel Striker. Her movements were precise with no wasted action. She blocked and strategically repositioning, creating an impenetrable shield for Steel Striker to execute his devastating attack.
The seconds stretched into an eternity as Steel Striker harnessed the full might of his abilities. The area around him seemed to warp, signaling the impending release of power that could sway the course of the battle.
Silently observing Gilbert’s proficiency in tanking, Steel Striker begrudgingly acknowledged the skill concealed beneath the rough exterior, and his rude behavior.
He noted, with a hint of reluctant respect, that Gilbert stood as the most exceptional among the tanks he had encountered.
A realization dawned on him — perhaps after this conflict subsided, it would be wiser to poach– or rather recruit such a skilled player into their guild.
