After the fight with the Death Knight had finally ended, the survivors were picked up by a group sent from the GTS, who would take them to safety.

With their mission completed, Dante and his group had to return to the vampires' manor as soon as possible to discuss their next steps.

When they arrived the following day, Asphodel gave Laurent and Madeline a pat on the head, saying she was worried about her children.

The Vampire Mother knew how much of a problem a Death Knight could be, and when she heard that her children had encountered one, she couldn't contain her motherly urge to worry for them.

Alice and Megan didn't know exactly what the knight was, but they could deduce that it was one of Netherius' undead.

On the other hand, Zac believed he knew everything about Death Knights, explaining that was his main class in a popular RPG game. However, in reality, he didn't know a single thing about the real Death Knights.

Knowing that the probability of fighting more Death Knights was high, Dante decided to reveal everything he knew about them to his group and allies.

Before going into details, they called Camille and Trinity so that they could become familiar with their enemies as well.

The handler was glad to hear that all of the captive citizens were saved, but she felt slightly unsettled when she became aware that Dante had to use his "Malevolent Art" to defeat the Death Knight.

Camille and the rest of the Jade Dragons had only seen him use that ability when fighting Astaroth, who was supposed to be at the level of a demon king.

'He must've been powerful…' Camille thought.

To paint a better picture of how powerful Death Knights could be, Dante told an old story from his past world—one which he had introduced before but hadn't explained in detail.

When Netherius went to war with the country of Dilaran, he used the corpses of his enemies to produce even more undead, creating a snowball effect that made his army stronger the more the fight prolonged.

However, when Netherius reached the capital of Dilaran, he didn't send thousands of zombies and ghouls to the fight. Instead, he sent fifty Death Knights.

One hundred and fifty thousand soldiers went to battle against fifty Death Knights, and their whole army was razed to the ground along with their city. freёwebnoѵel.com

Listening to the story, Zac nervously gulped, remembering he was about to take an attack head-on if it wasn't for Madeline, who diverted his attention from the redhead.

'W-was I going to die!?' He thought with a bit of panic.

Dante continued explaining that Death Knights were all different. Some of them were incredibly powerful and intelligent, with the ability to speak.

Others were more vicious and animalistic in nature, and others were quiet and stoic, like a powerful fighting puppet.

"What happened to his army?" Zac asked, curious about the fate of the fifty Death Knights who took over Dilaran.

A few years after Netherius had conquered Dilaran, the necromancer placed his sight on the city of Jarison, which Dante and his party were coincidentally visiting at the time, leading to a massive encounter.

By the end of the fight, over half of the city was destroyed, with thousands of casualties. Still, the warlock's party managed to kill most of the Death Knights before giving Netherius the final blow, which was supposed to end his life.

"And, that's where he cast some reincarnation spell…" Zac said.

The warlock nodded and confirmed his friend's statement, explaining that they didn't know it was a reincarnation spell, so they thought Netherius had been dead all that time.

"Honestly, I suspected we would be facing Death Knights sooner or later after we met with Netherius, but I wasn't expecting them to appear on the rebels' territory…" Dante commented.

"He must've found out about the museum and sent that poor Death Knight to protect his cave," he continued.

Since the group still had one more location they needed to clear, it was evident that the cartel and the rebels would add more protection in that area, so Asphodel decided she would be joining them along with Ezekiel, one of the sentinels.

Irina pouted slightly and glared at her brother with jealousy, as he would get to spend his time with Mother and watch her fight, which Irina absolutely loved.

Their next target was a "cave base" located in the Alanigan Mountains, on the most northern side of the country.

When Zac heard it was another cave, he seemed annoyed at the prospect of going into another one. However, Megan explained that the Azure Rebels' cave bases were huge, as they kept military planes inside of them.

"Well, that sounds better than a claustrophobic underwater cave…" Zac said.

Not wanting to give their enemies any time to prepare for their assault, the group decided to go to the mountains early the following day.

The four members of the Omega Team were ready. Joined by Asphodel and Ezekiel, they took a private flight to the small town of Atada, where they landed at a rural airport with a dirt runway.

It was the same airport they used to travel to Parton. However, instead of taking a helicopter, the group was right beside the Alanigan Mountains, so they had to use their wings to fly the rest of the way.

The pin on the map showed that the base was somewhere in the center region of the mountains, and considering the group landed on the west end, they had to travel quite a bit.

After flying for hours, with Dante and the vampires carrying the rest of the team, they reached a plateau where they descended to rest.

From the side of the plateau overlooking the mountain range before them, Megan scanned her surroundings and squinted when she saw a small black dot on a mountain further north.

"Hmm, is that…?" Megan muttered to herself.

Nonetheless, Alice stood beside her and took out a pair of binoculars, noticing the black dot on the mountain was actually a wide hole that seemed to be the entrance to a cave.
