Modern World Warlock-Chapter 261: Sami’s Magic Training
On a beautiful day at the Jade Palace, the members of the Jade Dragons had been working incessantly to prepare for their war against the Onyx Cartel.
It had been a few days since Dante cleansed the necromancer's curse that had been placed on the families of the Azure Rebels, and Camille sent them all to her new community—The Aerie.
The vampire clan had been staying at the Jade Palace since Asphodel believed that the training they received there was much better than having them practice on their own.
Moreover, the Vampire Mother enjoyed the fact that her children got along well with the people there.
Inside the laboratory, Sami, the new Hell-Cyborg, had been using her time in the morning to talk with the scientists and her afternoon time to train with the others.
Dante was curious to know more about Sami's body constitution, so he joined the sessions with the scientists to get a better understanding.
During one of her demonstrations, Sami grabbed a knife and sliced her forearm, leaving a few marks on her synthetic skin to demonstrate how it could self-repair from minor wounds.
"Our skin can easily self-repair small damages like this, but if the damage is severe, then it could take hours, or even days to fix…" Sami explained.
Even though the hell-cyborg wasn't doing anything that was necessarily "fun," she still seemed to have the time of her life simply talking with others.
After showcasing more of her combat features, Dante thought it was time to train her in magic.
Since Sami had the soul of a demon inside, she was now capable of manipulating umbra to cast spells, and the warlock wanted to see how much power she could handle.
Still, he needed to start from the basics. Sami had just become sentient not long ago, which also made her quite naive, and Dante was afraid that someone would use her inexperience in socializing to take advantage of her.
"For starters, tell me, how clearly can you see people's auras?" Dante asked Sami.
The cyborg's pupils dilated for a second as her system scanned her surroundings, and Sami was able to see the umbra around them just as clearly as Dante.
"Mhmm, that's good. Now, we'll work on differentiating people's emotions through their umbra. That way, nobody will be able to deceive you…" Dante continued, nodding with satisfaction.
To give her an example, the warlock looked straight into Sami's eyes and said that his name was "Tom," creating a small fluctuation in his aura that caught the cyborg's attention.
"Ah, I understand. That was a lie, and the umbra moved accordingly!" Sami exclaimed.
"Exactly. Make sure to remember what every emotion looks like—and no matter what the other person tells you, always trust your vision," Dante explained.
"That won't be a problem. I've already scanned the umbra flow for lies…" Sami replied, slightly confusing the warlock.
When she explained that she could memorize the different flows of umbra by scanning them one time, Dante was pleasantly surprised.
It could take a few years for a warlock to memorize the flow of umbra from different emotions. However, having a computer as a brain gave Sami the advantage, as she could learn anything much quicker than an ordinary mage.
"Heh, that's scary," Dante said. Contrary to his words, the warlock had a proud smile on his face.
With Sami's ability to memorize anything by doing it a single time, the warlock believed that his training with her wouldn't last long. Nevertheless, there were still some spells that he doubted she would be able to cast.
An excellent way to start training umbra control was by using the "Shadow Well," which Dante used to create the healthstones and soul shards.
When Carla, Zac's mother, became a forged warlock due to the excessive amount of demonic umbra she was subjected to, her primary method for training was cleansing soulstones at the shadow well. freewebnøvel.com
Later on, Carla was able to use her blood to create healthstones, but she had been forbidden from doing it by Dante, who could afford to use his blood for the stones instead.
As Dante cast the "Shadow Well" spell and made it appear in the center of the training room, Sami glared at it for a moment and dropped her head laterally in confusion.
"Oh… You said your body didn't have any blood, correct?" Dante pondered.
"Correct. Certain parts of my body can make water and oil for maintenance, but those are all the fluids that my body can produce," Sami replied.
"I see… A lot of umbra spells use blood as their base, so I suppose you will be limited to the ones that don't," Dante replied.
Having the soul of a demon gave Sami the ability to cast the same type of magic as warlocks, and the frame of said soul was quite large as it used to belong to Astaroth, so the ceiling for how much her power could grow was relatively high.
After Dante gave her a quick explanation on how to focus to manipulate umbra, Dante and the scientists spectating were surprised to see her pointing her palm forward and releasing a weak blast, producing a gust of wind inside the room.
"Mhmm, I understand…" Sami muttered to herself as her system analyzed her own umbra flow.
Thanks to her computer brain, Sami could master a spell after casting it one time. Her system could analyze the amount of power required to cast, the distance that the spell would travel, and predict the damage it would cause.
'Seriously… I may have created a true monster,' Dante thought, but he wasn't displeased with the outcome.
Once the warlock taught Sami a few more spells, the rest of the Omega Team arrived at the training room, and they were shocked to see the cyborg casting magic so nonchalantly.
They were aware that Sami would be able to cast spells, but they weren't expecting her to catch on to the concept so quickly. Of course, they had forgotten that a computer could hold information much more effectively than a human brain.
