Moonlight Betrayal-Chapter 53
Chapter 53: Chapter 53
Chapter 53
Astrid’s POV
"Goodnight." I said as I walked into my room and she went her way.
The room was different from the one Kaeleen uses, I noted as I closed the door behind me. He wasn’t in here and Rebecca has showed me his room when she gave me a tour of the house. While mine was smaller...which was a bit of a stretch because it was bigger than even Leon’s room at the Moonshade pack, it was clearly intended for a single occupant. I sighed, running a hand through my hair. The day had been a whirlwind of emotions, and all I wanted to do was collapse into bed and forget about everything.
I took a shower first to wash away all the sweat and stickiness. I wouldn’t even deny it, I enjoyed the shower a lot. Maybe some other time I could use the bath. It seemed like it was calling my name and I wasn’t one to resist the temptation of something that looked so good. And besides, it was going to be my first experience so I was going to make it soecial. Soon.
Just as I was about to change into my pyjamas, I heard a knock echoed through the room. I frowned, wondering who it could be. Maybe it was Rebecca again, perhaps she had forgotten something. Although that would be a surprise. Or maybe she had come to talk because even if Rebecca hadn’t said it openly, I could feel that there was something wrong somewhere. Something was troubling her but I didn’t know what. I just hoped I could help. I mean, she is my first female friend after all.
Not counting those in my father’s pack I had made when I was younger who their parents had restricted from going out with me to play after they found out I killed my sister. I couldn’t help but rolling my eyes at the absurdity of it all.
The knock sounded again, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"I’m coming." I called out as I walked over to the door and opened it. But to my surprise, it wasn’t Rebecca standing there, but Kaeleen.
"Kaeleen." I breathed out in shock.
He stood in the doorway, his expression serious, his eyes filled with a mixture of concern and determination. freёnovelkiss.com
I blinked, taken aback by his unexpected presence. "Kaeleen?" I asked, my voice laced with surprise. "What are you doing here?"
He hesitated for a moment, his gaze searching mine. "Can I come in?" he asked, his voice low.
I nodded, stepping aside to allow him entry. "Of course," I said, opening the door wider.
"And just so you know, you can walk in here anytime you want. It’s your house after all." I told him.
"Is that what Leon did?" He asked me with a frown.
Why was he bringing Leon up? "I don’t understand." I said to him.
"Yeah, me neither. Why woul you tell me to just walk in like that?" He asked me.
I blinked in surprise. "It’s your home."
"But it’s your room. You have every right to your privacy. If at all, you can kick me out and tell me to come back later. Don’t tell me to just barge in just because it’s my home." He said to me.
I did not understand. This was his home and he had every right to enter a place without permission. That’s how my father did things and Leon also so why was he behaving like I had said something wrong?
"You are confusing me. Aren’t you supposed to be able to go anywhere since you are the alpha?" I asked him.
"I’m only alpha. A leader. I certainly do not own this building. The pack does. So it’s not directly mine and just because I’m alpha doesn’t mean I shouldnt have basic respect." He said to me.
I still couldn’t wrap my head around it and he could see that so he released a sigh.
"You know what, we will revisit this some other time. I came here for something else." He said with a frown on his face.
I closed the door behind him, turning to face him with a growing sense of unease. "What’s wrong?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper. "Is everything okay?"
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It’s... complicated," he said, his voice laced with worry.
He paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts. "Leon knows you’re missing," he finally said, his voice low and grave. "We discovered he found out this morning which was why Alex had rushed in here."
I laughed. I couldn’t help it. "It took him this long to realize I was missing?" My body shook from my laughter.
"Same question I asked." Kaeleen said to me.
"But that’s not the issue now. He’s coming straight here to get you back because he knows you are here." Kaeleen said.
I couldn’t believe it. After a week of planning, after all the careful precautions we had taken, Leon had finally discovered my escape. The thought of him coming here, of him invading this sanctuary, sent a shiver of fear down my spine.
"How does he know I’m here?" I asked, my voice trembling. "Does he have any evidence?"
Kaeleen shook his head, his expression grim. "I’m not sure," he said. "But I wouldn’t put it past Leon to do something sneaky to get you back."
I shuddered, thinking back to how he had locked me in a cage like I was some toy or troogy he treaured. How he didn’t even treat me like a human and gave me only the bare minimum to survive. I couldn’t go back there. I wouldn’t let him get his way.
"So, what’s the plan?" I asked, "I can’t go back there, Kaeleen. Not after everything I’ve suffered."
"Do you have a solution?" I asked, my voice pleading. "Is there anything we can do?"
Kaeleen sighed, walking over to the bed and sitting down heavily. He looked exhausted, as if he had been carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.
"I’m not sure if you’ll like the solution I came up with," he said, his voice low and hesitant.
I frowned, my curiosity piqued. "Just tell me," I said, my voice firm. "I need to know what my options are."
Kaeleen took a deep breath, his eyes searching mine. "Will you be my Luna, officially?"
