Moonquest: A Journey To The Stars-Chapter 81: The Church of Mekanicum...
Chapter 81 - The Church of Mekanicum...
"The Technopriests from the Church of Mekanicum were once glorious Engineers who worked with the seven Astral Mecha Lords, building worlds and creations of great magnificence for the Bureau Of Paranormalities. However, they later went astray..."
His eyes held deep sadness within, igniting across fervent desire for what the 'Bureau Of Paranormalities' was. Hearing stories of what is outside their known world had ignited a passion within them, a thirst for knowledge they never had. Whether consciously or not,, they all leaned in, wanting to know more, even if only a tiny smidgeon.
And disappoint them, he did not
Taking another deep breath, he continued on. "The Engineers at the Bureau were responsible for manufacturing and maintaining most of the tools and weapons that were used, but their main work, their 'größter Erfolg', were the construction of Worlds."
Here, they all gulped, even the well-incapacitated Eldruis, at the sheer absurdity of Titus's words. How on Earadun were they able to do that...
Continuing, Titus explained, "Harnessing the power of the Celestial Forge at the Center of the Multiverse, the seven Lords built worlds at the behest of the Administrator. From the densest of jungles to the most arid of desert, to even worlds composed of food itself, they built everything imaginable and not. However, this is where disaster struck. Some Engineers, swollen with misbegotten pride, found themselves believing that they were doing the work of the God's, and that everything's should bow down to them and their Omnissiah, their Metal Creator. This led to the first great Dark Age of Machinery..."
Hearing these secrets, the sky grew dark. Clouds converged above them, causing them tonfeel chills up their spine. They just realised they have stepped over a massive minefield.
"And then..."
Gulping in anxiety, Simon asked what everyone wanted: what happened next?
And Titus dod not disappoint
"Haah... What else happened: the Bureau struck back. Using their vast armadas, they struck a killing strike at the heart of the Church, destroying most of their core figures in a crusade later known as the Heresy Admonishment. I say most because it seems that not all of them seemed to have been killed..."
Their eyes grew wide, for they understood the implications of this shocking reveal: their enemies were none other than the disgraced Engineers of the Bureau: The Technopriests of the Church of Mekanicum.
"So...are we screwed...?"
Trying to raise the barest of hopes, Eldruis pinned his heart at the hopes that these beasts were weaker than they expected.
And hope there was
"Thank the Administrator that we're not. After what possibly seems like millenia, they have degraded quite a bit. Now they're most likely running on fumes, and since this world does not seem to have any running sources of power that utilises electricity, they don't have any easy sources of regaining their lost powers. If we want to destroy these abominations, now is the chance. I believe that after your last showdowns, most likely all of you have probably accrued a lot of experience. Now is the time to break through and prepare for the final fight!"
With his piece being said, all of them got the message. Using this very brief replies of peace, the group (minus a still very injured Elf), began gathering the experience to usher in their final breakthrough.
Witnessing this, Titus let out a sigh of relief, for he did not want them to know what he had left out:
Mechmagos Gears is one of the pioneers of the Heresy
