Mr.CEO Looks Exactly the Same as My Son!-Chapter 996: Does That Count as a Corny Joke?
"Let’s not talk about this, let’s change the subject. How about you tell me a joke?"
Mo Han thought for a moment, he didn’t usually hear many jokes, and finally came up with one after a long time. He cleared his throat and said, "Xiao Ming asked his dad to tell him a story. Dad asked, do you want to hear a long one or a short one? Xiao Ming: A long one! Dad: Once there was a fly, buzz buzz buzz... Xiao Ming: Dad, maybe tell me a short one instead! Dad: Once there was a fly, buzz, smack!"
"I’m done."
Qin Yin blinked her eyes and suddenly smiled, "Would this count as a lame joke?"
"I suppose... it does!"
They chatted on and off, and as time passed it got late. Qin Yin couldn’t help but yawn, closed her eyes, and fell asleep shortly after.
Mo Han finished reading a document, curious about why she suddenly stopped talking. He was about to ask when he heard a light breathing sound coming from his earphones, and swallowed back the words he was about to say.
His lips curled into a faint smile, "Good night."
He took his phone and hung up the call, removed his earphones, and got up to take his change of clothes into the bathroom.
After a shower, he came out and lay on the bed, and as he held his phone, he suddenly smiled.
He unlocked the screen and opened an app.
When he moved into the apartment, he started using the smart home network service, which allowed him to see everything happening at home no matter where he was.
Additionally, if there was a power outage or other incident at home, it would automatically send a message to his phone, allowing him to control and resolve it remotely.
While Qin Yin was calling, his phone didn’t react at all, enough to prove that there’s been no power outage at home.
Yet she said the whole area was having a power outage.
Whatever the reason, he didn’t expose her, and went along with her story.
A sudden thought occurred to him, perhaps she truly felt uncomfortable being alone at home when he’s not there.
Regardless of her reason, whenever he traveled, aside from necessary calls with colleagues, it was rare for anyone to feel uncomfortable due to his absence.
Qin Yin’s behavior made him feel inexplicably that someone at home cared about him when he was away.
He exited the webpage, plugged the phone into the charger, placed it on the bedside table, and turned off the lights to rest.
Far away in Z City, Qin Yin wouldn’t know he realized she was lying from the start, and wouldn’t know about the smart home system, only thinking that Mo Han believed her words.
She slept until she woke up naturally, got out of bed, and after freshening up in the bathroom, went to the kitchen.
Even though the house still felt empty, after the phone call with Mo Han last night, the uncomfortable feeling lessened a bit.
Finally, not having to work over the weekend, after breakfast, she started tidying up the house.
Although there were only a few rooms, cleaning them was still exhausting. After spending several hours, she looked at the spotless house and smiled contentedly.
She threw her dirty clothes into the washing machine, found some snacks and placed them on the living room coffee table, casually searched for a movie and began watching.
The phone on the sofa vibrated, she picked it up and took a look—it was a text message from Mo Han.
"It’s the weekend, if you don’t feel like going out, just relax at home. There are a few movies that are quite good; you can check them out."
Qin Yin was surprised to find that among the movies Mo Han recommended her, one of them was exactly what she was currently watching.
Is this considered a kind of tacit understanding?
