Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar-Chapter 17: I Can’t Help It, You’re Just So Charming
She didn’t even change her clothes and walked right out of the living room.
She glanced at the time. It was still early; the Lynch family was probably in the middle of dinner.
She squatted by the edge of the swimming pool, the water’s surface shimmering.
After squatting for a while, she headed for the main gate. Just as she got there, she saw a car parked at the entrance. It was Quentin Grant’s.
Just as she was about to walk past it, the door flew open and she was forcefully shoved into the passenger seat.
The car drove off.
"It’s on my way. I’ll give you a ride."
"I didn’t ask for a ride." She stared out the window.
Quentin Grant scoffed. "Nora Ainsworth, why don’t you tally up how much you owe me? Don’t worry, I’m in no rush. I’ll collect on this debt, little by little."
Nora Ainsworth frowned. "You’re my sister’s fiancé, and I have a fiancé of my own. Are you sure this is what you should be doing? A man of your status can have any woman he wants. How about I find you a few girls to keep you company tonight? What do you say?"
"Dirty."
She was speechless. "If they’re so dirty, then you should practice what you preach and keep to yourself. That would really show off how much of a clean freak you are."
"Is that so?"
The car stopped in front of the Lynch residence.
She tried to get out, but the door wouldn’t open. It was locked.
"Unlock the door."
He pulled out a gleaming knife. Nora Ainsworth jumped. "Are you going to kill me to shut me up?"
He sneered. "Rape first, then kill." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
As he spoke, he lifted her skirt. The knife sliced through her underwear, and he ripped it right off.
Nora Ainsworth instantly felt a cold draft below.
"Quen—Quentin Grant, take it easy."
But instead, he put the knife away. "Get out. I’ll be waiting for you nearby."
Nora Ainsworth scrambled out of the car and said, "Don’t wait for me. I’m not going back. I’m staying at the Lynch residence—"
Before she could finish, she felt his murderous gaze and didn’t dare say another word. ’If he lets something slip, I’ll be the one to suffer!’
She turned and went into the Lynch residence.
Spotting Mrs. Lynch, Nora Ainsworth called out sweetly, "Good evening, Mrs. Lynch."
Mrs. Lynch’s face was all smiles, the very picture of warmth. "Nora, you’re here! Come, come, hurry inside."
Nora scoffed internally. ’This old hag really knows how to put on a show.’
Leon Lynch patted the spot next to him on the sofa, beckoning for her to sit down.
"My mom told me you wanted to see me. Is there something important?"
Mrs. Lynch smiled. "Oh, it’s nothing major. It’s just... you see, it’s been a little while since the engagement, and you and Leon took your wedding photos today. I was just talking to Leon about your new home. Did he mention it to you? I was thinking you could just have your marital home here with us. No need to find another place. You can live with us from now on."
Nora’s smile was strained. "Mrs. Lynch, I think it would be better if we lived on our own. That way, everyone would be more comfortable."
"Oh, that simply won’t do. Our Leon is an only son. If you two move out, what about when you have children? We’d be worried sick. It’s much better for you to stay here."
Leon chimed in, "She’s right, Nora. What my mom said makes sense."
Nora didn’t know how to argue. "Mrs. Lynch, I’ll leave it to you to decide."
Mrs. Lynch chuckled and stood up. "You two chat. I’ll leave you young people to it and head upstairs."
Nora gave an awkward smile and asked in a low voice, "Leon, are you really willing to give up an entire forest for one little sapling like me?"
Leon caught her off guard with a kiss on the cheek. "What can I do? You’re just too captivating."
Nora cringed. It was as if a flock of crows had just flown over her head, leaving a trail of droppings behind.
"I’m being serious."
"So am I."
She had nothing more to say.
