Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 1051 - 1047: Want to Give It a Try?
Arriving at Nicholas Croft’s villa, even after three years, nothing has changed here; the black leather sofa is still in the center of the hall, with that same rosewood coffee table in front.
Once upon a time, she sat there, secretly drinking his liquor and smoking his cigars. So many times when he returned, she was already passed out drunk on the sofa...
Returning once more, Beatrice Hargrave felt no particular nostalgia. This place felt like home; in fact, back then, she always considered it her home.
After surveying the villa, Beatrice asked the question again, "Uncle Nicholas, why did you bring me to your home?"
"Lonely," perhaps annoyed by Beatrice’s question, Nicholas Croft said while undoing his tie, as Beatrice plopped onto the sofa, "You could maintain a celebrity here, or perhaps marry my sister soon; then you wouldn’t be lonely."
Nicholas hung his jacket on the rack, turned his head to look at Beatrice with a playful smile, saying, "Is this what you learned while studying abroad?"
"What?" Beatrice feigned confusion, widening her eyes. Nicholas walked over to the wine rack near the kitchen, returning with a bottle of red wine and a glass. He sat down on the sofa diagonally opposite Beatrice and said, "Did your teacher teach you how to maintain a man while studying abroad?"
After speaking, he poured a glass of red wine.
Watching the dark red liquid slowly flow into the wine glass, Beatrice subconsciously swallowed, her eyes fixed on the glass and unable to look away.
"I’m asking you a question, why aren’t you answering?" Nicholas glanced over, appearing like a mentor at that moment.
Reluctantly taking her gaze off the glass, Beatrice raised an eyebrow in confusion, "Huh?"
Seeing her longing for the red wine, Nicholas slowly swirled the glass and asked with a playful smile, "Want a taste?"
Beatrice...
Swallowed again quietly, shook her head quickly, and resting her hands on her knees, said earnestly, "My father said that a simple girl like me shouldn’t drink when alone outside, if you drink too much you might be taken advantage of by bad people."
"Do you think I’m a bad person?" Nicholas raised his eyebrows, his lips curled slightly, charmingly caught between a smile and not smiling.
Beatrice cursed silently in her heart, this devil, obviously trying to seduce her!
On the surface, she remained earnest and said, "I don’t know if Uncle Nicholas is a bad person, but alcohol can lead to losing control. I won’t drink, nor do I like it. I hope uncle will drink less in the future; it’s not good for your health."
Bringing the wine glass to his lips, Nicholas elegantly sipped, his dark eyes filled with amusement. "You think you can manage me, huh?"
Beatrice straightened her back, supported her knees, and earnestly continued lecturing, "Uncle Nicholas, this isn’t about management, this is a fact. Now that life is better, how many people mess up their bodies with excess food and drink..."
"Stop!" Nicholas raised his hand to interrupt Beatrice’s preaching; he almost mistook her for Sophie Foster just now. But this girl was definitely not Sophie; his Lara lived however happily she wanted, never caring about health issues.
"What’s wrong? Did I say something wrong?" Beatrice blinked her eyes in confusion, her gaze clear, unlike Sophie Foster’s sometimes sly shimmer.
"No," Nicholas returned to a serious demeanor, "But these words aren’t suitable coming out of a child’s mouth."
"Oh, I see."
Beatrice appeared deep in thought, while Nicholas stood up, wine bottle and glass in hand, sat beside Beatrice, and raised his eyebrows, tempting her, "Want to give it a try?"
