Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again-Chapter 1032: Sense of Crisis
At the dining table.
Tonight’s dinner was to welcome Ian Yardley, the dishes exquisite, a feast for the senses, perfectly complementing the flowers and red wine on the long table, making the atmosphere exceptionally pleasant.
"Kingston, sister-in-law, I will be troubling you both for a while. I can’t drink alcohol, so I’ll use juice instead. Cheers to you." Ian Yardley raised his juice glass, smiling brightly.
Ann Vaughn and Cyrus Hawthorne clinked glasses with him, and the Little Dumpling watched them, then raised his milk cup, also clinking with Ian Yardley, before turning to clink with Ann Vaughn.
Finally, he deliberately skipped Cyrus Hawthorne, seriously downing all his milk in one go.
Apparently, he’s still upset about being transferred to a new school by Cyrus Hawthorne.
Seeing the milk mustache on Kenny’s lips, Ann Vaughn burst into laughter and quickly wiped it with a napkin.
"Good boy, are you playing the ’deep feelings, drink it all’ game?"
"Deep feelings with mommy." The Little Dumpling answered in his childish voice to Ann Vaughn, then cast a disdainful glance at Cyrus Hawthorne.
Cyrus Hawthorne raised an eyebrow at him, "You seem to have a lot of opinions about me?"
"Hmph." The Little Dumpling grunted in dissatisfaction, his cherubic face full of anger, "Don’t think that by sending me to school, you can monopolize mommy! Mommy belongs to Kenny!"
"You’ll get married one day; do you plan to occupy your mommy forever?"
"Kenny can stay single forever and save all the money for mommy!"
"Annoying little brat."
"Sneaky uncle!"
Separated by Ann Vaughn, the father and son began bickering, going back and forth, seemingly eager to settle scores right then and there, absurdly childish.
Yet when it comes to Ann Vaughn’s "ownership," neither father nor son would back down, as if the one who wins the argument could claim her forever.
The previously warm and peaceful atmosphere shattered completely with a snap.
Initially touched, Ann Vaughn soon found her head throbbing from their argument, "If you keep fighting, dinner will get cold."
Hearing this, both the big and little one temporarily called a truce.
"For the sake of your mommy, you won’t be thrown out tonight."
"Kenny is magnanimous and won’t hold it against you!"
Seeing them about to start arguing again, Ann Vaughn quickly served them each a bowl of chicken soup, trying to shut them up.
She’s really fed up with this father-son duo who get jealous of each other at the drop of a hat.
Just as Ann Vaughn was about to serve Ian Yardley a bowl of soup, she noticed his absent expression, his spoon having fallen to the table.
"Ian, are today’s dishes not to your liking? Do you need the kitchen to prepare something else?" Ann Vaughn placed the porcelain bowl in front of him, asking in confusion.
Ian Yardley finally snapped out of it, stiffly shaking his head.
"No, the food is delicious, thank you, sister-in-law." Ian lowered his gaze, feeling complicated.
No word has leaked from Blackhold Nine about Kingston and this woman having a son.
He’s protected them... a bit too well.
Suddenly, Ian felt a sense of crisis for his sister.
...
After dinner, Cyrus Hawthorne went to the study to handle some work. Ann Vaughn took the pouting Little Dumpling for a walk in the garden before returning to the room.
Just after she got out of the shower, there was a knock on the door.
The Little Dumpling, dressed in a white bear-themed pajama, ran up to Ann Vaughn with a box, proudly holding it up to her.
"Kenny made a little something for mommy."
Ann Vaughn had grown accustomed to Kenny occasionally giving her strange and quirky items, no longer as shocked as she initially was.
However, after seeing what was inside the box, Ann Vaughn was still amazed.
A palm-sized transparent box, yet nothing inside was visible from the outside.
Inside are hundreds of small compartments, incredibly convenient to use. Once items are placed inside, it’s like they fall into a black hole, occupying no space at all.
Ann Vaughn placed the medicine bottles and Golden Needle from her medical kit inside, and there was still room left. Surprisingly, the box remained flat despite the number of items, feeling almost weightless.
Simply unbelievable.
"Sweetheart, how does your little brain work like this?" Ann Vaughn played with the box in her hands, growing more fond of it the more she looked.
With this box, her bulky medical kit could retire.
The Little Dumpling smiled sweetly, "Mommy needs the medical kit to see patients, but the kit is too heavy for mommy to carry. I originally planned to give it to mommy on her birthday, but since it was ready ahead of time, Kenny couldn’t wait any longer."
This box took nearly a year from design to completion.
From small part schematics to overall assembly, every bit was manually crafted by the Little Dumpling, piece by piece.
Feeling a little emotional, Ann Vaughn kissed the Dumpling and hugged him tightly, "Sweetie, you’re just too good for mommy, mommy is so touched."
"Mommy is happy, and Kenny is happy too!" The Little Dumpling’s eyes sparkled as he affectionately hugged Ann Vaughn’s neck.
"But sweetheart, with so many compartments inside that can’t be seen once filled, won’t it be troublesome to search for items?"
"Don’t worry, mommy." The Little Dumpling handed the box over and opened it, pointing to three different colored lines on the edge for Ann Vaughn, "Mommy just has to press this middle line, and the items will be converted into images and projected, making it much easier for mommy to find them."
In addition, the Little Dumpling has set an AI program in this box.
The green line is the activation device; besides helping Ann Vaughn find what she needs, it can also navigate, sing, tell stories, and even chat to relieve boredom, boasting impressive capabilities.
The red line is a distress signal with self-defense features, the specifics of which require future use to discover.
During previous tests, the Little Dumpling took this box out casually. It was seen by the lord and Eve, who asked to borrow it for a while, but ultimately neither of them would let it go, almost throwing a tantrum to take it back.
After listening to the Dumpling’s detailed explanation, Ann Vaughn couldn’t help but start doubting her life.
Her son’s intelligence... could it be too extraordinary?
It even made her wonder, did she really give birth to this child??
Oops! Stop there!
Kenny wasn’t birthed by her; did he come from a rock instead??
Ann Vaughn lightly hit herself, dispelling those unrealistic thoughts, looking at the Little Dumpling’s cute face, unable to help but go "aww."
She must have saved the galaxy in her past life to give birth to such a considerate and lovable darling!
The Little Dumpling, unaware of how moved he’d made his mommy, was testing the flexibility of the AI intelligence, furrowing his little brows.
This intelligence is too talkative; what if mommy eventually only talks to it and ignores him?
... No way!
Better remove this feature and replace it with something else.
The Little Dumpling pondered for a while, suddenly struck by a brilliant idea.
