Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again-Chapter 1034: Why Haven’t You Given Up Yet?
Cyrus Hawthorne’s warm hand covered the back of Ann Vaughn’s neck, gently massaging and kneading to relieve her fatigue while explaining to her.
Upon hearing this, Ann Vaughn’s eyes opened slightly in disbelief, "What kind of people are your subordinates? They’ve gotten themselves into this state but won’t dare to pass out until they send out the information?"
Tch.
What an obstinate mental attitude...
The soldiers in The Expanse Federal Army are all like Hex, willing to complete their mission at all costs, even if it means disregarding their own safety.
Even if injured and facing death, to them, it’s a worthy sacrifice.
Cyrus was used to it and found nothing strange about it.
The more Ann Vaughn thought about it, the more intrigued she became, wrapping her arms around Cyrus’s neck and pestering him, "What kind of important information is it? Lost treasures or underwater gold? Hurry and tell me!"
Cyrus raised an eyebrow, his narrow eyes smiling at her.
"You’re quite the money-grubber now. Yet, when you converted the Gem Flower that Kenny gave you, you didn’t seem reluctant."
"I didn’t know," Ann Vaughn huffed twice, "I just thought it would bring good fortune to Kenny, so I did it subconsciously."
One Gem Flower was enough for her.
Rare things are more precious.
Cyrus knew that in those past years, she donated several large sums to charity under Kenny’s name, to accumulate blessings and virtues for him.
Even though Kenny’s illness was cured now, she probably still harbored fear, so even after losing memory, she subconsciously continued doing those things.
Thinking of this, Cyrus couldn’t help but feel regretful.
Regretful that he missed the most difficult years, unable to be by her and their child’s side.
Fortunately, the past regrets could be made up for in the future.
Ann Vaughn hadn’t noticed Cyrus deliberately changing the topic. Struck by drowsiness, she felt drained and leaned limply against Cyrus.
"I can’t stand it anymore, I’m so sleepy. I’ll sleep here."
Cyrus naturally wouldn’t let her have the chance.
He crouched down with his back to her, arms opened behind, his head turned to her, "Hop on."
Looking at his handsome, refined profile, Ann Vaughn’s heart sank, rubbing her eyes as she laid on his back, hugging his neck and blissfully speaking.
"Brother, you’re so nice."
Cyrus’s movement suddenly paused, a light blush appeared below his dark hair, his Adam’s apple slightly rolling twice before he stood up, his deep voice irresistibly sexy, "Stop tempting me."
Ann Vaughn: Meow meow meow??
...
At dawn.
A high-end telescope was set on the balcony of room three on the third floor of Villa 16.
Wilder Sheridan, dressed in pajamas, sat behind the telescope, observing the movements of the villa in front.
After a long period of eating and sleeping, his body finally wasn’t so weak, even getting out of bed was strenuous.
Now that his health improved slightly, he was eager to start some action.
"Wilder, time for your medicine." Eli Sheridan brought the medicine upstairs, not seeing Wilder in the room, he walked to the balcony to look, and was instantly speechless.
"Why haven’t you given up."
Actually monitoring Number 8.
Wilder snorted, his eyes glued to the telescope, "I saw Cyrus Hawthorne carrying my sister out of the car. My sister seemed asleep, but she might have been knocked out by him... No, I have to go check!"
However, as soon as he stood up, Eli Sheridan pressed him back down.
"Calm down." Eli said helplessly, "Nathan Hawthorne and Cyrus are different. We can’t impose what Nathan has done on Cyrus; it’s unfair to him."
"How are they different when they’re father and son?" Wilder gripped his hands tightly, a layer of resentment rising in his eyes, "If my sister stays with him, she might someday face what I’ve been through. I can’t tolerate that."
"Laura Quinn is Cyrus’s mother, but can you say he is the same as her?" Eli retorted sharply.
They later learned about what Laura Quinn did to Ann Vaughn.
The reason they hadn’t taken anger out on Cyrus was that he hadn’t blindly trusted Laura because she was his mother, and thus hadn’t let Ann suffer.
Just for this reason, Eli was willing to believe that even though Nathan and Cyrus were father and son, they were ultimately different.
Wilder irritably pushed the telescope away, "But don’t forget, Elias once said that either my sister or Cyrus, only one of them would survive."
Before being taken as a test subject, Wilder didn’t understand what that meant.
But after seeing the man treated as an honored guest by those researchers in the chamber, he understood everything.
"But it won’t be him that puts Ann at a disadvantage." Eli sighed.
The irritable child almost exploded, "You clearly didn’t like him taking my sister away, so why are you speaking on his behalf."
Who are the real brothers here??
"That’s because your sister likes him. Being by his side makes her happy." Eli’s lips curved, "Our aims are the same, to ensure your sister’s safety and happiness, so why argue over trivial matters."
This hit the nail on the head for Wilder, though there was still some discontent, it was only temporary.
"Are we just going to wait for Nathan to come after my sister?"
"Wait a bit more, after you recover, I’ll take a trip to Zeus Base."
...
After sleeping soundly, Ann Vaughn woke up and found the toxin preserved from the surgery in Ten Faces Linglong, then ran to the top floor laboratory.
Despite these toxins being extremely poisonous, if used properly, they could become self-defense weapons.
The art of medicine and poison aren’t separate, Ann Vaughn isn’t only skilled in medicine; her expertise in using poisons isn’t lacking.
The extracted toxins were less than two hundred milliliters, but their effect was magnified by more than ten times. A single drop could kill a person in a minute.
Ann Vaughn had no intention of using this stuff to harm anyone. After diluting the extracted toxins, she created two defensive poisons.
One was a mass-attack poison, if faced with numerous opponents, she could crush the capsule and scatter it in the air, taking down thirty people at once.
The second one was more cunning; whoever inhaled it, regardless of their willpower, would have their mind disrupted temporarily, losing memory which was handy for escaping in critical moments.
"Wow, this is practically a treasure." Looking at the remaining toxins in the bottle, Ann Vaughn suddenly felt regret for not extracting more from Hex.
Knock knock knock.
Someone knocked on the laboratory door.
Ann Vaughn put the medicine bottle back into Ten Faces Linglong and went to open the door.
"Miss Vaughn, please save me!" Breeze cried miserably, looking as if life had lost its meaning.
Ann Vaughn: ?
When did she turn into a savior??
