Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 715: Color-Changing Blush
It was the first time Lana had been called cute by a boy right to her face, and her cheeks instantly turned red. Norman Sutton looked at her blushing face, and for some reason, he found his ears heating up as well.
Her blushing appearance... seemed even more adorable.
Norman Sutton removed his hand from her shoulder, awkwardly scratched his head, and after walking a few steps forward, he spoke again, "When are you heading back?"
Lana: "Back home?"
Norman Sutton nodded, "Yeah."
Lana paused for a moment, looking at a Christmas tree decorated in the school, and said, "I plan to stay here until after Christmas before heading back. Since I’m already here and I’ve taken leave, and the tickets are so expensive, I might as well have a good time."
Norman Sutton chuckled, "That’s great, our team’s boss is in a good mood and gave us a few days off too. We have a few days for sightseeing here, and we’ll go back after the holidays. We’re traveling freely, so I’m not going with them. If you want to go anywhere, I can accompany you, so you don’t end up in any trouble here and my mom doesn’t scold me when we get back."
Lana seemed to catch the implication in his words, glancing at him briefly before quickly looking away.
She felt something was off, but couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was.
It felt like... Norman Sutton was constantly sticking around her, could it be that... he liked her?
As the thought popped into her mind, Lana’s face turned even redder in the night, and she immediately dismissed the idea, telling herself not to overthink it.
Norman Sutton had always emphasized their social differences; someone like him, a Young Master, was bound to marry a sophisticated lady from a prominent family in the future.
At most, he just saw her as a playful companion, simply having fun with her.
But there’s no harm in that. Traveling solo could indeed be a bit unnerving, and it’s natural to feel a bit fearful.
Having a strong guy by her side wasn’t a bad thing.
His words might be annoying, but she just needed to be magnanimous and not fuss over this pampered Young Master.
On Christmas Eve, Norman Sutton accompanied Lana for a stroll around the nearby shopping district.
He claimed he wanted to pick a gift for Audrey Sutton and asked Lana for advice, but in the end, he bought her a lot of stuff, claiming it was her reward for the effort.
His words weren’t very pleasant: "You probably haven’t worn such expensive clothes, think of it as me being in a good mood letting you experience it."
Upon hearing this, Lana didn’t feel embarrassed anymore; instead of getting angry at him, she might as well shamelessly accept it.
After all, he wasn’t wrong; she didn’t have money and had never bought any luxury items, and pride didn’t put food on the table.
She might as well cozy up to this naïve, rich Young Master; she might even get some perks.
On Christmas, snow was flying everywhere.
Norman Sutton took Lana to a Christmas party. Lana didn’t know the ticket price, as Norman Sutton didn’t tell her.
But seeing the castle that looked like something only a Disney princess could live in, Lana figured the ticket might not be cheap.
There were many people at the party, and no one knew each other. Some were travelers from different countries, some were young couples experiencing the romance, and some were parents bringing their children for fun.
The crowd bustled with activity.
Afraid that the petite Lana might get lost, Norman Sutton held her hand tightly.
Both were wearing gloves, and although there was no skin contact, the sight of their intertwined hands still brought a blush to Lana’s face.
She immediately told herself not to overthink it; he didn’t mean anything by it!
In the palace hall stood a giant Christmas tree, beneath which an elderly man held a camera while many people lined up for a commemorative group photo.
Norman Sutton also pulled Lana into the line, placing her in front of him and resting his hands on her shoulders, saying, "Be sure not to pout later, it won’t look good in the photo."
Lana retorted without much enthusiasm, "Then stop talking now."
Norman Sutton leaned over, tilting his head to get a look at her face, and asked, "Why is your face so red?"
With his comment, Lana felt like her face was on fire but she explained, "That’s my blush!"
Norman Sutton: "Didn’t seem red when we left."
Lana fibbed, "It’s color-changing blush!"
Norman Sutton asked, half-believing, "They make those?"
Lana ignored him, moving forward slowly with the line.
The photo session was quick, and it was soon their turn.
Lana, not being great at taking photos, just stood up straight, while Norman Sutton naturally draped an arm over her shoulder, leaning down to say, "Give a smile."
Just then, the flash went off, capturing Lana directly facing the camera while Norman Sutton looked down at her, seemingly whispering, or perhaps with eyes only for her...
The photo captured by chance exuded an inexplicable warmth. Norman Sutton decided to purchase it and let Lana tuck it into her purse.
After the photo, Norman Sutton led Lana upstairs, stopping when she saw a hall filled with exquisite snacks, unable to tear herself away.
Watching many people sampling snacks, she swallowed and asked Norman Sutton, "Can we eat?"
Norman Sutton nodded, "Of course, we can. Better eat more and get our money’s worth."
"Lana?"
Norman Sutton and Lana simultaneously turned toward the source of the voice, seeing Zachary Wilson approaching them, his arm linked with a young Western woman, not the girl he roomed with.
Zachary Wilson seemed disinclined to hide anything, strolling over with the woman in tow. He gave Lana and Norman Sutton a disdainful once-over and taunted, "I was fooled by your innocence; maybe I shouldn’t feel guilty. I even think your visit this time was just an excuse to break up with me, right? After all, Young Master Sutton’s family can better satisfy your ambitions."
Norman Sutton opened his mouth, ready to curse him out, but Lana proactively took his arm, smiling at Zachary Wilson, "You’ve got it right. Young Master Sutton indeed has more capabilities, which you have to admit. When faced with two choices, anyone would pick the better one."
Zachary Wilson let out a derisive scoff, "Pretending to be pure and harmless is truly disgusting."
Lana maintained her smile, "Not as disgusting as a hypocrite like you, senior."
