Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 738: You Are Not Allowed to Die!
"What are you doing?!" The driver rushed over, but the car door was locked, and he couldn’t open it.
Vanessa Sterling grabbed the steering wheel tightly with both hands, her gaze fixed on the direction where Miles Sterling was standing. She fiercely pressed down the accelerator, and the car swiftly charged toward Miles Sterling...
"Young Master, watch out!" The driver quickly stepped back and shouted to Miles Sterling with concern.
Miles Sterling, who was on the phone with his back turned, heard the driver’s shout and turned to see the car’s front just less than a meter away.
Instinctively, he stepped back several steps in succession, and the car flashed past him quickly, bringing a chilling wind, and rushed over the green belt separating the two parking areas.
"Bang—" A loud crash sounded, as the car collided heavily with another car parked in the opposite parking area...
"Oh my God—what happened here? Whose car is that?" A passing woman stood by the roadside, shaken, looking at the two severely damaged vehicles.
The people around quickly gathered, discussing among themselves: "What’s going on? How could this happen here?"
"I reckon it’s another case of a lady floor the gas pedal instead of the brake."
"How could you drive so fast in a parking area? I just saw that car rush past, and there was a young guy standing by the road, lucky he dodged in time."
...
After Miles Sterling regained his senses, his first thought wasn’t about what might have happened if his reaction had been slightly slower.
Instead, he realized the person in the car was Vanessa Sterling. He immediately charged toward the car in panic.
The front of the car was severely damaged, and the car window glass was shattered all over the ground.
Vanessa’s petite body was squeezed in the car, barely alive, lying on the steering wheel, covered in blood, staining her thin dress red...
Miles Sterling’s expression turned frantic, turning to the driver who realized what had happened and shouted angrily: "Call an ambulance! Hurry!"
The driver swallowed hard, tremblingly fished out his phone from his pocket to dial the emergency number.
The crowd grew denser, with noise buzzing in his ears.
Miles Sterling stepped forward, forcibly tearing down the still-deformed car door.
Metal scratched his hand, blood oozing from his palm, but the pain was the least of his concerns.
Vanessa’s body was wedged in the deformed front of the car; she looked gravely injured, Miles reached out but hesitated, his hand trembling in the air, afraid to touch.
She lay motionlessly trapped inside, as if already lifeless. Miles Sterling, eyes red with fury, grabbed Vanessa’s jaw, shouting crazily: "You’re not allowed to die! I won’t let you die, you can’t!"
Vanessa winced in pain, like she mustered all her strength to lift her eyelids.
The person before her was only a blurry silhouette; even the pain in her body began to fade.
She was close to death, perhaps. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
It’s better this way.
She just regretted not taking that demon down with her.
She closed her eyes again, unresponsive to Miles’ desperate calls...
Emergency personnel quickly arrived at the scene, administering urgent rescue measures to Vanessa while extracting her from the deformed car cabin.
When Miles Sterling saw her being placed on the stretcher, she seemed as if she had lost all breath, covered in blood and icy cold all over...
Hospital.
The corridor outside the emergency room was somewhat desolate.
Miles Sterling stood motionless outside the emergency room, eyes hollow, appearing as if soulless.
Bloodstains had dried to a dark red on his expensive tailored suit, his expression dazed, looking disheveled.
"...Young Master, Mr. Jasper has called you several times." The driver walked over sheepishly to remind him.
Miles Sterling moved his dry lips slightly, his voice a bit hoarse as he said, "You can go back."
The driver pursed his lips, hesitated for half a second, and asked, "But if Mr. Jasper asks..."
Miles Sterling frowned, patience exhausted: "Don’t bother me."
The driver sighed in distress, glanced at the emergency room door. Having witnessed Vanessa’s dire condition at the scene, he felt certain that her chances of survival were slim.
But how does someone who was originally declared dead suddenly appear again?
And even try to run into the Young Master with a car, indeed, the old madam was right, this woman is bad luck, nothing good happens when she shows up.
...
Around eight in the evening, Audrey Sutton unexpectedly received a call from Jasper Jones, learning about Vanessa’s disappearance.
Vanessa was essentially living as someone in the shadows; they couldn’t search for her openly. If the news reached Miles Sterling, it would spell disaster for Vanessa.
Jasper Jones said he searched for a whole day. Vanessa usually only frequented a few places, and he checked them several times yet she seemed to have vanished, without any trace.
Jasper was somewhat fearful, fearing that his pressuring Vanessa for marriage might have driven her away due to mental strain.
Otherwise, he couldn’t understand why Vanessa would disappear suddenly, even ignoring his calls. Lately, aside from preparing for their wedding, nothing unusual seemed to have occurred; what exactly happened?
Jasper called Audrey Sutton as he believed she might be the only person Vanessa would reach out to, but unfortunately, Audrey had not received any information from Vanessa either.
Audrey suddenly recalled the call Miles made to her days ago. Upon reconsideration, Miles must have sensed something, which prompted him to inquire about Vanessa.
So, Vanessa’s disappearance... could it be related to Miles Sterling?
Knowing Vanessa was currently missing, Audrey couldn’t find peace to sleep.
She asked Shane Warner to investigate Miles Sterling’s whereabouts, and to her surprise, found out that Miles had indeed been in Vanessa’s current city; his return to Rivia coincided with the timeline Jasper mentioned regarding Vanessa’s disappearance.
Audrey hastily checked the flight passenger list and quickly spotted Vanessa’s name...
This is bad...
Given Miles Sterling’s character, discovering her fake death, Vanessa wouldn’t have easy going.
It could end in tragedy.
Audrey immediately relayed this information to Jasper Jones, desperately wishing she could confront Miles to clarify matters, but late at night and minding her children made it inconvenient for her to go out. After weighing her options, she called Jasmine Lucas.
Jasmine was smart, resourceful, and, most importantly, willing to do anything for money.
Upon receiving instructions, Jasmine traced Miles Sterling’s whereabouts and promptly headed to the hospital.
The hospital was rather quiet at night, Jasmine didn’t directly approach Miles, but instead chatted casually with the hospital’s on-duty staff about gossip. With Miles Sterling’s status appearing at a hospital, the staff inside had likely spread the news wide, so with the right conversation, one could uncover the desired information.
