Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 767: You Have No Reason to Refuse
Norman Sutton already felt somewhat embarrassed, and now Lana Holloway was looking at him with a particularly strange expression, making him feel even more ashamed and annoyed. He frowned and showed impatience, "Do you want it or not?!"
Lana Holloway: "Is something wrong with your head? Why are you kneeling to me?"
Norman Sutton stood up shamefully and stuffed the flowers into Lana’s hands, "Just take them!"
Lana took two steps back instinctively, catching the bouquet but holding it at arm’s length, squinting her eyes, as if she were holding a bomb about to explode.
After a few seconds, seeing nothing unusual with the bouquet, Lana showed a bewildered expression.
Just as she was about to ask Norman what kind of trick he was playing, she saw him scratching his head awkwardly, walking up to her, and pulling a small maroon box from his pocket, "Um..."
Seeing the size of the box, and combining it with the room’s setup and the big heart made of red roses on the wall, Lana suddenly realized what Norman was about to do.
Her mind went blank, feeling like she was in a strange dream that she hadn’t woken up from.
At this moment, Norman looked even more embarrassed than Lana. His ears were red, nervously fiddling with the ring box in his hand, not daring to look directly at Lana, his voice several tones lower than usual, "Actually, I...I..."
Lana looked at his stammering and puzzledly interrupted, "Did you take the wrong medicine?"
Then she turned around, looking around as if searching for something, and asked Norman, "Are you filming a short video? Trying to prank me, right? You think it’ll be moving and make everyone laugh at me, right? I won’t fall for it, you..."
Norman frowned and interrupted Lana, "Don’t talk! You’re making it so loud I don’t even know what to say!"
Lana smugly laughed, "Forgot your lines?"
Norman: "Stop shouting! Listen to me!"
Lana was startled by the seriousness in Norman’s voice, wondering whether he was genuinely emotional or putting on a show.
The two of them stood face to face in a standoff for a few seconds, and Norman squeezed out a determined sentence, "I want to marry you, will you marry me?"
Saying that, Norman opened the ring box and laid it in front of Lana, continuing on his own, "I think you definitely won’t refuse. After all, you want to get married so badly, and I’m better qualified than the men you’ve been on blind dates with. You have no reason to refuse."
Lana looked at the sparkling diamond ring, thinking it wasn’t a joke, but then figured that for a Young Master Sutton, buying a diamond ring was like buying a pack of cigarettes at a corner store.
"Which nerve of Young Master Sutton is this pulled? Are you proposing to me? I can’t handle it, I’m like mud, you’re like clouds; I can’t reach so high."
Hearing the sarcasm in Lana’s words, Norman frowned in displeasure, "I don’t mind you, so why are you being so sarcastic?"
Lana chuckled, "Young Master, you..."
Norman, furiously interrupted Lana, "Don’t call me Young Master, just tell me if you agree!"
Looking at how realistic Norman’s "acting" was, Lana almost believed him, "Did you lose a game? Truth or dare? I have to say yes for you to complete your task?"
"You just don’t believe I’m serious," Norman cursed quietly in frustration, then, on impulse, he grabbed Lana’s head, and caught her off guard by leaning in for a kiss...
At the moment their soft, warm lips touched, a bolt of lightning seemed to strike through Lana’s mind, and before she could react to push him away, Norman released her, looking down and asking, "Do you believe me now?"
"Smack—" Her response was a solid slap from Lana.
The slap wasn’t terribly painful but left Norman stunned; he’d never been slapped before, let alone expected Lana to do something like this.
Lana was more angry than embarrassed at this point, glaring at Norman with extreme resentment, as if she wanted to curse but was too lazy, forcefully stuffing the flowers back into Norman’s hands, and then using the back of her hand to wipe her mouth hard as she strode out of the dance hall.
Norman stood in place, frowning as if bewildered about what he had done wrong to make Lana so angry.
Also, wasn’t Lance Quincy so confident that Lana wouldn’t refuse him?
"Bang—"
"Bang—"
The sound of party poppers went off several times in the balcony above the hall, followed by a rain of colorful confetti filling the air.
Norman looked up, bewildered, and saw Audrey Sutton and two sister-in-laws on the balcony. Thinking about the embarrassing scene they had witnessed, Norman’s face turned even more unpleasant.
If Lana had accepted, it wouldn’t be too embarrassing, but now, not only had she refused, but she also slapped him angrily and ran away.
Moreover, what were these women celebrating with the poppers?!
Phoebe King clapped her hands from the balcony, teasing, "Congratulations, our Six has grown up."
Norman Sutton: "What are you all doing here?!"
Audrey Sutton: "We’re here to witness my little brother’s growth, of course."
Laura Yates: "The outcome was expected, but it was also expected that Six would take this step."
Phoebe King rounded the balcony, descending the nearby stairs with a smile, "Yeah, we didn’t mean to make fun of you, and the fireworks are to celebrate you getting one step closer to happiness."
"Closer, my ass?!" Norman was both embarrassed and frustrated, thinking he was being played by these women too: "It’s all your doing, isn’t it? That Lance is with you too, right?"
As he spoke, Lance Quincy walked in from outside the door, standing by the door with a faint smile, "Instead of dwelling on this, you might want to chase after Lana and check on her."
Norman tossed what was in his hand onto the nearby table, "Check on her? I’m the one who needs checking on!"
Even though he said this, his feet were already heading toward the exit of the dance hall.
Lance Quincy nodded toward the direction Lana had left, reminding Norman, "She went that way."
Norman left without a word, chasing after her with a determined look.
The group stood at the door, watching Norman’s departing back with satisfaction as Phoebe King smiled, "Once this kid understands his heart, good things aren’t far off."
Lance Quincy sighed dramatically, "I rather like Lana."
