Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 773: Root and Branch Removal
Miles Sterling heard Bianca Jennings’ words, swallowed what was in his mouth, and said slowly, "She needs someone to take care of her."
Bianca Jennings immediately replied, "Her health has improved a lot these past few days, she doesn’t need someone by her side 24/7."
Miles Sterling: "Does this have anything to do with her treatment? I think it’s irrelevant, so Dr. Jennings, there’s no need to be so obsessed with this issue."
Bianca Jennings chuckled and said, "You’re scared of something, aren’t you? Afraid she’ll escape your control once again? Or afraid she’ll end herself when no one’s looking? Or maybe you just simply want to clearly know her every move?"
Miles Sterling: "Dr. Jennings must be mistaking the subject, your patient is her, you don’t need to understand my methods and purposes, you just need to guide her."
Bianca Jennings stood up, agreed with a nod and said, "The weather is nice this afternoon, I was planning to take her for a walk."
Miles Sterling looked up out the window, gave no answer, and slowly took a sip of the soup in his bowl, tacitly approving Bianca Jennings’ proposal.
The sunlight cast over the beach, the breeze stirred ripples across the sea, leaving a glittering starlight flicker.
Vanessa Sterling sat in the wheelchair, Bianca Jennings pushed her along the coast.
"In two days, you’ll be starting leg rehabilitation training, your current condition still holds great hope for recovery, this beach is best experienced walking on it yourself."
Vanessa Sterling gazed at the endless sea, thoughtfully asked in a soft voice, "How far can I walk?"
Bianca Jennings looked down at her, contemplated and replied, "As far as you want to walk."
Vanessa Sterling laughed a little, it was a rather bleak smile.
Bianca Jennings’ words were what she hoped to hear, but she knew such hope was slim.
Miles Sterling stood on the balcony of the villa’s second floor, staring distantly in Vanessa Sterling’s direction.
It seemed Vanessa Sterling could peacefully coexist with anyone, but he was the exception.
Since the incident until now, Vanessa Sterling hadn’t spoken a word to him, not even glanced at him.
Watching Bianca Jennings pushing Vanessa Sterling almost out of sight, Miles Sterling made a call to bring Bianca Jennings back.
Though the outing was short, seeing the sky and feeling the sun, Vanessa Sterling felt her nearly mildewed body relax a bit.
After returning to the room, she lay back on the bed.
The television in front played several current popular movies on loop.
They looped several times, yet Vanessa Sterling hadn’t seriously watched any of their content.
"You two go out." Miles Sterling entered the room, instructing the two maids taking care of Vanessa Sterling.
The maids quickly exited the room, Bianca Jennings still stood aside, observing Miles Sterling with a faint smile.
Miles Sterling glanced at Bianca Jennings, said in a deep voice, "I’d appreciate it if Dr. Jennings also stepped out."
Bianca Jennings paused, nodded, and as she walked towards the door she said, "Later, please ask Mr. Sterling to settle the medical bills from the last few days."
Miles Sterling replied impatiently, "I won’t short you money."
Bianca Jennings smiled approvingly, walked out, and gently closed the door.
Vanessa Sterling lay on her side on the bed, eyes closed, facing the window.
Hearing the light footsteps approaching behind her, the fear and unease seemed like a natural instinct, keeping her whole body tense.
After the footsteps stopped beside the bed for some time, Miles Sterling’s voice softly came from behind: "Feeling better?"
Vanessa Sterling remained as usual, feigning sleep, even though she knew Miles Sterling was aware she hadn’t slept, as she had just come in and lay down.
She simply didn’t want to have any communication with Miles Sterling.
After waiting a few seconds, with no response from Vanessa Sterling, Miles Sterling walked around the foot of the bed to the side Vanessa Sterling was facing.
Vanessa Sterling, with eyes closed, could sense a shadow looming overhead, her eyelids trembled slightly, a cold sensation rushed through her body, giving her goosebumps.
Immediately after, Miles Sterling reached over and grabbed the collar of Vanessa Sterling’s nightgown, forcing her to sit up from bed.
Vanessa Sterling opened her eyes in alarm, yet pretended to be calm as she looked at Miles Sterling. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Miles Sterling stared into Vanessa Sterling’s gaze full of hatred, asked, "Are you determined not to speak to me?"
Vanessa Sterling’s expression was indifferent as she looked at Miles Sterling, her gaze resembled how she was unresponsive to anything upon waking in the hospital.
Miles Sterling sneered, let go of Vanessa Sterling’s collar, sat at the edge of the bed, looked at Vanessa Sterling and said mildly, "That man came looking for me at my company a few days ago."
Upon hearing this, Vanessa Sterling’s gaze flickered and a sense of unease filled her heart.
Miles Sterling continued, "Not sure whether to call him stupid or commend him for being so in love with you that it gave him the courage, he created quite the scene in my company lobby, demanding crazily to know your whereabouts, made things quite embarrassing for me."
Vanessa Sterling’s emotions visibly shifted, the calmness of her gaze stirred, silently asking Miles Sterling what happened to Jasper Jones.
Miles Sterling seemed satisfied with Vanessa Sterling’s reaction, smiled and said, "The company security guards are quite diligent, but lack discretion, rough handling, the lobby floor was all blood-stained, sprawled in dirt."
"What did you do to him?!"
Miles Sterling chuckled, faced with Vanessa Sterling’s apparent tension, he simply said, "You choose to speak now?"
Vanessa Sterling’s eyes and tone were full of hatred for Miles Sterling, almost through gritted teeth she said, "Miles Sterling, you’ll get your comeuppance sooner or later!"
Miles Sterling mocked, "I look forward to it."
Miles Sterling stood beside the bed, towering over Vanessa Sterling, said, "Oh right, he’s now lying in the ICU, I paid people to take care of him, I think he should be thanking me, also you better behave yourself, how long his oxygen tube supplies oxygen depends on your behavior, so you’d best not go against me."
Leaving these words, Miles Sterling rose and left the room.
Thinking of Jasper Jones suffering at Miles Sterling’s hands because of her, Vanessa Sterling’s inner resentment grew increasingly intense.
She thought someone like Miles Sterling didn’t need psychological treatment, his wickedness was innate, such a person should descend to hell soon.
Vanessa Sterling’s heart no longer yearned for restored freedom, she knew as long as Miles Sterling lived in this world, those thoughts were just fantasies.
The root of their problem lay with Miles Sterling, and to truly solve it, perhaps only removing Miles Sterling from the world would suffice as eradication...
Indeed, the demon blocked her light, her choices weren’t limited to hiding in darkness, she could also choose to drag the demon down to the abyss together...
