Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 782: Vanessa’s Rebirth
Vanessa Sterling sat up in bed, reached out, and picked up the bank card to look at it. It was indeed her bank card.
The card was issued when Vanessa had no income, and Miles Sterling would deposit her living expenses into it weekly.
Later, when she started receiving a substantial amount of royalties, Miles feared that with money, Vanessa might do something beyond his control, so he confiscated the card, and continued to provide her with only living expenses and pocket money, as before.
To this day, Vanessa feels it’s all a grand act orchestrated by Miles.
She looked up at the surveillance camera on the wall, thinking Miles must still be on the other end, observing her reaction.
She didn’t believe Miles genuinely intended to let her go.
Just as Vanessa was filled with doubt, Bianca Jennings pushed the door open and walked in.
Although she hadn’t heard their conversation, Bianca understood the situation by merely looking at it, confirming Miles had truly made a decision.
She hadn’t expected Miles to make such a choice so quickly.
Of course, Miles’s decision didn’t mean he would genuinely part ways with Vanessa; it was based on Bianca Jennings’ suggestion.
He wanted to see if this approach could reconcile with Vanessa, and if not, he might resort to extreme measures once more.
But Miles taking this step was already a minor show of humanity.
The development to this point wasn’t the end of Bianca Jennings’s work; quite the opposite, it was just the beginning.
Teaching Miles how to love, how to accept not being loved, that would be the subsequent issue to solve.
By then, even if Vanessa didn’t wish to forgive him, he could accept the facts and no longer resort to extreme measures against her. That would be the true success of reconciliation.
For both of them, it would be redemption.
Even though Bianca Jennings had explained Miles’s actions to Vanessa.
Vanessa remained skeptical, for she simply wouldn’t believe Miles could change.
The next afternoon, Vanessa received a cellphone delivered by a shipping company.
Once Vanessa inserted the SIM card and reconnected with the outside world, some of her internal doubts eased.
In the following two days, Miles did not reappear.
Before her rehabilitation training concluded, Vanessa proposed to the doctor to end it prematurely.
If Hylan were still under Miles’s orders, they probably wouldn’t agree to Vanessa’s proposal.
But now, he just tried to persuade Vanessa a bit, reminding her to continue her exercises daily and to have regular hospital check-ups.
After providing these instructions, the doctor led his team to pack up the medical equipment in the room and then left.
Vanessa also dismissed the servants at the same time.
After dealing with these workers, Vanessa had no plans to linger here any longer and took Bianca’s car back to Rivia that evening.
Audrey Sutton had been in contact with Bianca Jennings, so she was aware of Vanessa’s current situation.
After Vanessa got her cellphone, Audrey was the first and only person to call her.
So after returning to Rivia, Vanessa went straight to Audrey Sutton, who had been concerned about her.
It happened that Shane Warner was on a business trip out of town, and Audrey had prepared a room early for Vanessa to stay temporarily.
When Jasmine Lucas suggested seeking Bianca’s help, Audrey thought it would be a long battle, imagining that without several years Miles might not figure things out.
Unexpectedly, Vanessa regained her freedom so quickly.
Such a change for Vanessa was akin to a rebirth.
Laura Yates had also only recently heard from Audrey Sutton that Vanessa was still alive, and Audrey was scolded by Laura for keeping such a big matter from her.
Yet Vanessa being alive was the greatest news, so upon hearing Vanessa would return to Rivia tonight, Laura and Audrey prepared a large table of dishes awaiting her return.
Bianca Jennings seemed quite busy, declined Audrey’s invitation, and left after dropping off Vanessa.
Audrey had promised Jasmine a generous reward after success, so she fulfilled the promise, transferring two million that night.
Of course, she used Shane Warner’s card for it.
Audrey took Vanessa’s hand and led her to the dining room, smiling, "We were planning to have hotpot, but after asking Dr. Jennings, she suggested you eat lighter foods, so I just whipped up a few dishes."
Vanessa’s eyes rimmed with slight redness, looking at Audrey and Laura said, "...Thank you both so much."
Laura ladled a bowl of soup for Vanessa, "Alright, you don’t have to be so polite with us. From now on, consider me your sister. If there’s anything, talk to me; don’t keep things hidden with Audrey like before. You wouldn’t believe it, but when I heard about Hylan, I couldn’t help but cry every night when flipping through your unfinished manga."
Audrey leaned toward Vanessa’s ear, joking, "She just feels uneasy because she can’t find someone to push for updates."
Laura glared at Audrey, "Vanessa is much more diligent than you. She’s always submitting her drafts on time during serialization, unlike you giving us cause for concern."
Audrey chuckled, "What can I say; you are my sister-in-law."
The warm atmosphere lifted Vanessa’s spirits, gradually opening up, chatting while eating.
She asked a question that was bothering her, "Oh Audrey... how is Jasper Jones doing? When I tried to contact him the other day, I found his old number seemed to be no longer in use."
Mentioning Jasper Jones caused a slight halt in Audrey’s smile, and she exchanged a glance with Laura, quickly recovering, "Jasper? He was discharged some days ago, said a friend invited him abroad for something, I don’t quite understand. It’s probably related to some big venture, which is why his number probably changed when he went overseas."
Laura smiled to add, "I’ll ask a friend to get his current number for you soon."
Vanessa nodded, "Good that he’s out of hospital; I didn’t have anything in particular, just thought he was still there, planning to visit him."
Audrey smiled casually, "Don’t worry about him, he might have gone abroad chasing foreign beauties."
Vanessa laughed, agreeing it was for the best, thinking it’s better for her and Jasper to remain friends.
After dinner, Laura found Jasper’s contact details, and Vanessa successfully reconnected with him.
On the phone, Jasper’s voice remained its usual humorous self, and Vanessa felt at ease knowing he was well.
Neither of them mentioned their experiences during that time or the marriage they once contemplated, as those events seemed to have cemented the conclusion of their relationship.
While Vanessa was on the phone with Jasper, Audrey received a message from Shane Warner: Where are you off being wild? Spent two million on what?
